Very tasty preparation of food. Service very friendly but a bit sluggish which undermines overall pace of the meal. Excellent wine list. Pricing is extremely reasonable for a high end meal.
This restaurant has announced they are closing within the next month, but without supplying specifics, there are allusions to the fact that the same room may reopen under a new concept. If it is more casual, less high end (as is the trend these days) it would be a shame as this has been one of the few locations in the northern suburbs to offer very fine dining.
An exquisite dinner, the best dining out experience we've had in years. The food was superb with an exceptional amount of interesting and unusual choices. Service was top notch. Chef Michael stayed in touch to ensure everything was perfect as well. One couldn't ask for a finer evening out.
Quiet evening enabled us to have a pleasant conversation throughout our Michael's experience. Only five tables of two and one with three were filled. Our waiter was fantastic, attentive to our needs, and knowledgeable of the restaurant (He has been employed here for 14 years). My wife very much enjoyed the lamb while I enjoyed the sea bass. We will be back later this summer. Food and Service make the difference.
Outstanding experience. Each course including dessert were exceptional.
We love this place and make a point to go here for special occasions.
Great food and service. My wife is vegetarian and the chef made special food for her. It was a great to celebrate our anniversary.
Food was fantastic. Cocktails were excellent. Service was not up to standard for this type of restaurant. I was disappointed by the service. The food was able to compensate for the service and the evening was still quite enjoyable. The Soufflé was amazing, I recommend passing on the Crème Brulee. It was executed well, but the dark chocolate bowl overpowered the rest of the dessert and the crème brulee was lost. Sweatbreads starter is a 10!
Could not believe how good this was.
Service was literally non-existent. Wine list was outdated. First two selections unavailable. Food was good but tainted by rest of experience. Owner is trying to obtain a Michelin one star at an adjacent room called George. His attitude toward Michael diners? Let them sit and wait.
Wonderful choice of food, great wine list, great service! Strongly Recommend !
A wonderful way to enjoy New Year's Eve. A delightful tasting menu from which to choose, excellent wine selections to choose from and the usual very capable serving staff. The selections for the starters were quite varied, allowing one of our party to deal with specific dietary constraints and preferences, and the Dover Sole was outstanding. Can never go wrong with the souffles, either.
Excellent food and service on the North Shore! I would recommend this place to anyone in the city or the burbs.
The food is extremely well prepared and presented which is in line for a dining experience at the highest level such as this. Michael and his staff create a phenomenal atmosphere with their attentive and friendly service. Michael takes his time to visit many of the tables to introduce himself and talk about the experience which only adds to the family feeling you get from your visit. All in all the experience is similar to any Michelin rated restaurant where they deliver a complete dining experience.
First time at Michaels and we will be returning. Lovely atmosphere, the food is exceptional, and the service attentive.
We walked in to a crowded line of people waiting to be seated. No one greeted us and there was no one at the booth, so we were left there wondering what to do. At a restaurant with these prices I would expect to be greeted immediately even if it took a couple minutes to seat us. The rest of the service was not great. No one asked if we wanted a cocktail, I had to ask for one. I ordered a glass of wine with the entree and the waiter forgot and asked me later if Iwanted wine. No huge big deal, but again at this price point expected better. The food was fabulous though. Flavors were mouthwatering, everything cooked to perfection.
Restaurant Michael is a North Shore jewel. How fortunate we are to have a fabulous, classic French restaurant. The cuisine is always wonderful, the wine list is comprehensive and reasonable, and the service is totally professional. The lamb shank with Moroccan cous cous was absolutely terrific. Great flavors, tender as could be and just the right size portion. All four of us had a different entree and each was spot on, and the souffles for desert never fail to impress.
A great dining experience-excellent food & service. The 4 course prix fixe menu is a great value and all four dinner guests enjoyed their selections. Also easy to enjoy conversation as the noise level is very low, which is difficult to find these days.
Birthday brought to wrong person and service was slow but everyone is pleasant.
My spouse and I went here for my spouse's birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The place had very good atmosphere. The foods were amazing. Everything about this restaurant was great for us. We are a same-sex couple, and we felt very welcomed. Michael even came up to us and shook our hands.
We will be going back there for our anniversary a couple months from now. There are some things on the menu we want to try.
Excellent in all respects! Party of six liked everything they ordered. Outstanding wine list. Venison entre and chocolate soufflé for dessert were exceptional!
If you are interested in eating the special menus that are offered, e.g. Dover Sole, please NOTE that you need to call the restaurant DIRECTLY, and tell them that you specifically want the Dover Sole for dinner. Do not use OPEN TABLE for this type of reservation. Call the restaurant!! Otherwise, you will not get it because the restaurant/chef only purchases enough to feed the orders that are phoned in. We were remiss and did not realize this requirement. Thank goodness, the chef did have an extra Dover Sole Fillet which I was served. Luckily, my husband was satisfied eating something else. The chef was accommodating, which we were very grateful. He likes to chat and visit with the customers, but it was obvious that he pointedly avoided us after his initial arbitration to"grant" me the Dover Sole dinner. It made us feel unwelcome. The two dinners we had were not that terrific - my husband's lamb shank was over-seasoned (too much sauce) and my Dover Sole was lacking in taste (deliberately?? maybe I am paranoid). The seating was very crowded; tables were elbow to elbow but it may also be X'mas season, and the restaurant wanted to accommodate all the reservations that were called in. All in all, an evening much anticipated by us ended in disappointment, in all aspects - lacking in quality of cuisine, ambiance, and hospitality. The service from our waiter was par excellence. He was trying to make good on all the shortcomings of the evening for us.
Exceptional food and service as always. My loupe de mer was perfectly cooked, light and flavorful.
Amazing food, environment, kindness. The best place in Northshore
Grouper and mussels entree was very disappointing. Tiny portion - my husband only got 4 very small mussels and about 3 oz of grouper. Flavor of saffron was non- existent. Appetizers were pretty good. Warm fois gras and the grand marnier soufflé we’re very good.
Overall disappointed. Not sure we’d come back anytime soon. The first time we dined at Michaels was much better.
The food and service at Restaurant Michael never disappoint.
Always wonderful - great food, impeccable service.
All 5’s. Excellent restaurant!
Superb dining experience. Food was outstanding. One of the very best restaurants we’ve ever eatin at. Chef is fantastic!
Our meal was phenomenal as usual. I especially enjoyed the pasta special that evening with chicken confit and mushroom sauce and my husband kept raving about the butternut squash soup with the foie gras ravioli. Sergio's wine suggestion was topnotch. Dessert finishes the meal on a perfect note - do not miss the chocolate truffles as they are the perfect addition to your dessert choice!
Excellent as always.
Food excellent.....service was chaotic and slow. Some many waiters and yet it took quite awhile to have plates cleared and bring next course. However, good food made up for it.
Best food that I have had in years!
Meal was excellent. Delicious mixed green salad, lamb shank . RollS very fresh. dessert pretty good: soufflé and butterscotch gelato. We were there for 2 birthdays. Alittle birthday sweet would have been nicer than decorated plates. Service excellent. Chef came to table. Everything was very fine and comfortable.
Has to be my favorite french restaurant. Servings are a visual delight. Food is wonderful and a great and vary attentative staff
Love this restaurant for the atmosphere, the quality of food and preparation
Restaraunt Michael never fails to satisfy our taste buds! My wife and I have been going to Retaraunt Michael for over five years and tried many other restaraunts in the area that claim to offer the same dining experience / french cuisine and they all come up short. Michael and staff are able to consistently recreate masterful dishes at a great price!
Michael is an awesome down to earth guy who takes great pride and puts all his heart into his food! You know he will take care of you when you go!
Thanks again Michael and Staff!
Absolutely terrific! Thank you for the exceptional culinary experience.
Awesome place in everyway!!!
Always a wonderful culinary experience at the best restaurant on the North Shore.
