Very nice upscale restaurant. Food is something that you never have had before. A+++++
My sister and I visited during Downtown Restaurant Week and we were not disappointed. The food was beyond excellent and the service was impeccable.
We have dined here on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. The food and service are excellent and the dining room is very comfortable and beautiful. The staff always makes us feel at home.
Elegant dining in a comfortable atmosphere. Great service.
Our experience was exceptional, from being greeted, to seated, to the food and cocktails. Every dish we had was both beautiful and amazingly delicious.
The restaurant week menu was fantastic. The quality of food and service did not disappoint.
The room is stunningly beautiful, the service impeccable, and the food creative and delicious. What more can anyone want?
Always, the best in Cincinnati! You would have to spoke $500 per person in NY to get this quality!
The most beautiful restaurant in Cincinnati. The service is flawless and the food beautiful and fabulous. I very special dining experience.
Was a truly special way to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary.
Restaurant welcoming - food was creative in preparation and presentation. Nice background music and actually a restaurant where you could talk and hear each other. Beautiful surroundings with comfortable furniture and amenities. Food was a delightful culinary experience. Definitely a special occasion place.
I've eaten at other of Jean-Robert's restaurants and was a bit disappointed. The ambiance was great, and while the menu was interesting and complicated, none of it really felt like a truly top-flight restaurant, with the exception of the desserts. Wines included in the wine pairings were undistinguished as well.
First, arrived at 5p to have a drink at the bar. We had both the Sazerac and the Gimlet--the drinks were great and it was a nice way to ease into the meal.
The decor in the restaurant is beautiful and we were seated in one of the booths for two. The strangest part of the evening is that until the last hour we were the only two people in the restaurant. I get that it was early on a weeknight but COME ON Cincinnati, this place really deserves more support.
Amuse-bouche: Pate with some sort of cherry-mustard-onion compote going on. No one explicitly said this but I got vibes of playful upscale barbeque. A great first bite to set the tone. 9/10
First course: I got the beet salad and my date got the salmon. The knife skills were amazing on the beet dish and it was the perfect amount of sweet. My date loved the salmon. 9/10
Second course: My date got the ravioli--I tried it and also thought it was a highlight of the meal. However, the showstopper for me was the foie. ABSOLUTELY worth the upcharge as I wish I were eating that foie gras right now. 11/10 (Spinal Tap Scale)
Third course: I got the duck and she got the sole. We both enjoyed this course but for me, it was hard to go from the foie (so good!) to this. A great plate of food but it had a tough act to follow. 10/10
Dessert: They brought us six small bites: Lemon-lime with chocolate and a deconstructed s'more were the standouts for me. 10/10
Service: The pacing was perfect. Our waiter was present but not intrusive. The wine pairings were magnificent. Please do yourself a favor and get the wine pairing if you eat here. 10/10
TL;DR: Both my date and I are really into fine dining--we agreed it was the best meal we have had in Cincinnati. Please support this restaurant because it is special!
From the moment we arrived at the entrance, we were made to feel special. Our server Lavant was wonderful. Richard made us feel like celebrities and Jean Robert's food artistry was exquisite. The meal was absolutely phenomenal!
The welcoming greeting from the hostess in the beautifully decorated entrance signals the beginning of an enchanting dining experience. If you can stop by the bar and chat with the friendly bartender before you enter the main dining room, do it. When the grand doors dramatically open into the dining room, you will be transported into a visual and gastronomic adventure extraordinaire, graciously assisted by an attentive, thoroughly trained staff. This is an extraordinary fine dining, oozing with elegant romance and amazing cuisine.
Simply one of the best
Elegant and special
The experience was lovely and the ambiance and service are exceptional. My only negative comment is that the lobster bisque was not hot.
Fairly expensive if you go with the full tasting menu, but the experience is very worth it. The wine pairing was phenomenal.
For me personally the full tasting menu was a bit too much food. I think I will generally stick to the 3 course menu in the future.
The room is absolutely stunning. It has two-story high ceilings. All the tables for two are cozy nooks. Fabulous for an intimate and romantic dinner. Starters were scallop/octopus and spring onion mille-feuille. Mains were sole. The food was simply dreamy. Nice visual presentation and beautiful unique flavours. Very good wine recommendation. The service was excellent and very attentive without being intrusive. They provide a complimentary desert plate with 6 mini-deserts. Again, very good. Great value meal for such high quality.
Loved the food and how the sauces were poured on upon presentation. Did the full meal with wine pairing and the experience was exceptional.
Restaurant L is a throwback example of 'elegant dining.' The dishes are interesting, but they don't try to be truly innovative. Everything was carefully prepared and appropriately plated. One can get a 2-course or 3-course prix fixe, and both come with an amuse-bouche and an enjoyable dessert sampler (5 components). I found the appetizer course (second of three) particularly interesting, and given my tastes, I was pleased to find both rabbit and duck on the menu. The prix fixe meal can be ordered with or without wine pairings. The wine pairings were okay, not always up to the elegance of the dishes with which they were paired; one also has the opportunity to order from a fine (but pricey) wine list. The restaurant itself is quiet with soft seats. The service is thoroughly professional and rather formal by 21st-Century standards. Given its prices, I consider Restaurant L to be a 'special occasion' restaurant unless someone else is paying for it.
This place is perfect every time. One of Cincinnati’s best, hands down.
Excellent cuisine and service. Some of the best dishes we have ever been served.
OMGosh! By FAR the best restaurant I’ve ever experienced. More modern and even better than was the Maisonette. Unparalleled in every aspect. Must try!
Outstanding meal and evening, truly special and true professionals at their craft. This is dining at its best in Cincinnati!
Perfect in every way...just amazing
Your bill for 2 people will be north of $300 so don't be surprized!
Restaurant L is a classy restaurant to enjoy a relaxing and leisurely meal. i wish other folks who dined there would dress up for the setting. Seeing men in casual shirts and shorts was disappointing.
Come on guys, step up.
Food, ambiance, service, as good as it gets right here in Cincinnati.
The menu was creative , the food delicious, excellent service and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the wines offered in our pairings. The dining room was comfortable and beautiful. This was our first visit but it won’t be our last.
Restaurant L was an absolutely amazing experience. The food, the service, and the ambiance were all as close to perfection as it gets. I made a reservation here to propose to my now-fiancée and she really adored everything about it. I couldn't imagine choosing anywhere else in Cincinnati for such a special moment. It was worth every single penny.
Thank You for one of the best meals we have had in our many, many years of dining. The food was "over the top" delicious, creative, unique, and beautiful. The staff was attentive but not over bearing, polite, and informative, and well dressed. The décor was stunning! So many beautiful things to see, but at the same time, not overpowering. And the bathrooms had their own bit of panache. My wife also loved all the lush roses! Truly this was an evening we will remember! Thank You Again!
quietest fine dining in town, with excellent polished service
I took my Fiance here for his birthday, he was beyond blown away with the food, staff and ambiance of the place! I definitely believe that this is the greatest fine dining restaurant in Cincinnati, OH!
Jean-Robert de Cavel does it again. We enjoyed a four course prix fixe dinner with great wine for our 25th anniversary. A very cool transition from the bar which opens into the office tower atrium, through tall double doors into the quiet sophisticated dining room. Food, service, wine, setting world class.
A completely magical experience from start to finish!!
Simply put. The best restaurant in Cincinnati.
Could be in Manhattan or Paris and would still be the best.
We took the family out for our wedding anniversary and had a fabulous meal. Ambiance was first class, modern, tasteful and elegant. Service was perfect as always. Cincinnati should be proud to have a restaurant of this caliber.
I ordered a 3 course meal. For course 1, I had salmon which is so salty. The second course I had was scallop which is salty too but that was the best among three xourses. The third course was duck. DO NOT ORDER THIS ONE. I don't like this because this course smells fishy and raw with duck blood in it.
The service is sooooooo good but the food is fair. It doesn't have the dress code. By the way, the bread is pretty good. Try it.
We had the celebration lunch-- delicious and a good value-- The crab salad was really something nice== many textures & flavors
A delicious spring soup
crusted arctic char-- perfection
duck breat w/ farro-- !!!!
tasty trio of desserts!
Cava went well with all of this!
Alex & his team gave incredible service
Restaurant L is just one of the finest restaurants anywhere! Chef/owner Jean Robert and owner Richard Brown reward every customer with one of the most beautiful spaces, grand food & wine and most attentive service. A delight !
