The food, the service, everything was outstanding!!!! My husband hates going to French restaurants because he thinks they're stuffy and overrated. That was not the case with L. He actually enjoyed himself and the food! It is fine dining at its best, but the tables are far from one another and everyone is able to have a private, intimate evening. Everyone at our table had the 3 course Prix fixe. Nobody shared even a bite of their food. Every morsel (aside from rhubarb on the dessert plate, which is a personal dislike) was exquisite. There were mussels in my entrée course that were THE BEST I've ever had. I seriously can't say enough about the food. I rated 4 stars on value because it was our understanding that L was an establishment where gratuity was part of the cost (that is apparently becoming a popular thing), however that was not the case when the bill came. It wasn't a big deal, but just want to give a heads up to others. Parking was super easy... There are dedicated spots for L in the Great American parking garage, and they validate parking. Overall it was one of the top dining experiences I've ever had. I highly recommend!!!
Our lunch reservation for 5 was at 11:30. Which is the time the restaurant is to open (only open for lunch on Fridays btw). The doors did not open until 11:42 - a tad disappointing to wait but the lobster bisque made up for it - it is absolutely a "don't miss" and it stole the show! The shrimp dish was average but the Halibut was off the charts delicious. The tuna tartar appetizer was ok. The burger is very good. The ambiance is very French and a bit quirky which was unexpected. The service is exceptional - we had no less than 5 different individuals taking very good care of us, a couple of slight mishaps that I believe were attributable to newer servers - but that is how one learns to be truly good at it! Would go back, but probably only for special occasions as it is a bit pricey.
Ambiance was perfect for a romantic dinner on our anniversary ! Main dining room is
beautifully decorated. But the real attraction is the cuisine: we ordered salmon and
halibut and both were delicious and attractively served. Excellent service.
As always, a fantastic dining experience!
Thank you, Chef Jean-Robert, Richard and entire staff!
Beautiful restaurant. Excellent choice for a special occasion. We purchased the two course dinner with wine pairings. The morels were fabulous
Fantastic! In all respects! Great food, great service, very quiet for conversations, great atmosphere.
Truly the flagship luxury restaurant in Cincinnati! We have visited many times and are truly impressed each time. It was the perfect place for a very special anniversary celebration.
We each had three courses, all of which offered first-class ingredients very well prepared. Service is efficient, well-trained, and best of all unobtrusive; no waiters interjecting themselves every two minutes to ask how we are liking our dinner or "are you still working on that". Unlike most restaurants where each diner's plate is removed the instant he finishes, regardless of whether others at the table are still eating, at Restaurant L our plates were not removed after each course until we had both finished, just as it should be done. My only complaint is that the banquettes are not comfortable. No one should slouch at a table but occasionally it would be nice to be able to lean back just for a moment.
Food and service were exceptional. Food was very creatively prepared. Servers were helpful and friendly.
Outstanding. Owner/Chef came out to greet guests.
This was our first time at Restaurant L and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. It was reminiscent of many wonderful dinners at the Maisonette only clearly healthier choices abound. The table settings were beautiful and our servers wonderfully friendly and professional. We loved it!
Fantastic greeting and service, theatrical and personal. Food met our high expectations. Slow pace of courses was welcome, but they were also attentive to our needs—never bothered, never ignored.
Décor is stunning and the dining room is cozy. We dined from the three-course Prix Fixe side of the menu and added the wine pairing for each course. Food was good with interesting flavors and combinations and presented beautifully, on par with the reputation Jean-Robert has created for himself, and while we enjoyed the meal, I don't see it as something we would necessarily crave to have again.
Service was great until our server was given just two other tables. Unfortunately he seemed a bit overwhelmed with managing three tables and our last two wine pairings were forgotten about when our courses were served. My husband and I have both been in the service industry before and in an attempt to show our server some grace, we didn't make a big deal of his oversight. More training might be required of the staff if three tables was too much for someone in an restaurant environment such as this.
We paid with cash at the end of the night and ultimately ended up leaving an extremely inflated tip because the server never came back with our change after 15 minutes of waiting. We just chalked it up to a loss and hope his night got better.
I'd recommend L to friends, but with certain rather large asterisks attached as a forewarning.
We have been to all of Jean Robert's restaurant officially now. They are perfect in their own way. At Restaurant L, we were greeted and seated promptly. The service was great and informative on all dishes and wines. They went out of their way to make our anniversary extra special. We did the 3 course prie fixe option and every dish was delicious. We will be going back and recommending Jean Robert's Restaurant L to all of our friends and family.
Best restaurant in Cincinnati, great food, service and setting
A dream come true dining experience! Perfection at its best in all ways - food, service, atmosphere!
My husband and I are pure foodies. One of our favorite restaurants in Cincy is Orchids at the Omni. When we learned Restaurant L was set up to be similar, combined w/ it being a Jean Roberts, we had to go. Let me tell you, it is NOT Orchids, not even close and not worth $400. One, the food was bland. It was just not well flavored, seasoned, or special. Every course was meh. We purposely got different things and everything was immediately forgettable. Two, the service was horrible. Our waiter was so rude and condescending. He chastised me for finishing a glass of wine while waiting for the next course to finally come out. He then proceeded to remind us to “seriously wait for your food before you drink your wine”. I am a physician and in my 40’s. I do not need to be educated on how to eat and drink. When the meal was over we waited for 40 minutes for our check, w/ empty water glasses, no one by to see if we wanted anything else, etc. That’s reasonably expected and accepted at your local chain restaurant. When you’re spending upwards of $300-$400/meal it’s completely unacceptable. For the good, I will say the ambiance was very pretty. Noise level was low, the restaurant was peaceful and well decorated. So if you want to sit there and have 1 drink to enjoy the ambiance Restaurant L would be great. If you want great food, drinks, and service definitely save your money and go elsewhere. There are so many better options in Cincy!!
An excellent way to celebrate a one year anniversary. Jean’s still got it, absolutely love his food.
Restaurant L provides a delightful and memorable dining experience, perfect fora special occasion.
We loved everything. Always superb.
Everything about Restaurant L is top-notch - food, service, wine pairings - a memorable dining experience.
Great!!! Beginning to end
Excellent food and restaurant interior, great selection of wines
Perfect for an intimate birthday celebration. Quiet, elegant ambience. Beautiful, delicious food with spectacular wine pairings. Incredible service and attention to detail.
Expect to spend $400 for two people, but it was unforgettable and AMAZING.
Excellent food and ambience and service. Perfect for a special occasion.
We have dined here often and are never disappointed. The food and presentation is excellent. The ambiance could not be better. Love the dinner with wine pairing option. So much to enjoy. The dessert sampler is a wonderful ending to a perfect evening experience.
We very much enjoyed our dining experience. The service, food, ambiance were second to none.
The choice of the wine pairings were superb, however disappointed in the wine pours which were minimal.
On our next visit, we will forego the wine pairings and order either a bottle or multiple glasses of wine.
My friend asked for her burger to be medium. Just a little pink. It was very rare. They took it back. It came back rare again just like when she sent it back. Looks like they just warmed it up. Not good. My cod however was great.
Thoughtful dishes, amazing sauces, seasonally fresh flavor in every bite. Management replied promptly when we added 1 to our party at the last minute. 3 course prix fixe with dessert plate lasted 3.5 hours, so plan to enjoy the experience.
My husband check out the tree in the middle of the room!
The chef is as much a living artist as Lin Manuel-Miranda and every course is a composition like the songs in Hamilton. Why this restaurant isn’t packed every single hour that it is open astounds me. Restaurant L is an homage to the culinary art form! This is the pinnacle of fine food and luxurious dining.
All good food atmosphere ppl
The whole experience of dining at Restaurant L is beautiful. The decor is stunning, the staff were all terrific especially Max. The food was presented beautifully and tasted incredible. Thank you Chef Chris S!!We would highly recommend Restaurant L.
We had a great dining experience. The service, attention to detail, ambiance & food presentation was impeccable.
Good people, good food, good ambiance.
Didn’t agree with every wine pairing, but the wines, themselves, were good.
6PM on a Saturday had a nice sound track. Don’t know if there are times when music is live.
We ate in the bar pre theater and service was not very good - very surprising . Despite reservations, table was not set up and wait staff overall were very slow (including us needing to ask for silverware). Definitely not the L experience we are used to.
Exquisite, memorable, delicious. The best spot in the city for an important occasion
Food & Service was impeccable, quiet environment, velvety decorations. Prices are high.
