We felt as if it was only us two in the room with our personal waiter. We met the owner, very delightful gentleman, we wanted to thank him and his partner for designing such an atmosphere that takes you out of the city and plants you in the middle of France. The food was exquisite, we would come here again. I cited this restaurant from Jacksonville, FL. And I was not disappointed with the service, food, atmosphere and people!!
Very high end dining but worth it for a very special night out. I love everything about L from the time you walk through the doors and see the beautiful interior until you walk back out after a wonderful evening. The service is amazing. Everyone working there is on the top of their game.
Portions are small and very rich but just right for the 4 of us since we don't eat a lot but the love the best of great food.
We had a wonderful time. Service was Impeccable. Food was amazing and delicate yet we were stuffed by the end. 5 stars!
This was our second dining experience at Restaurant L. This time we had friends from Seattle, Washington with us. The evening began with delicious coctails at the bar. Then moving to the dining room, the decor and ambience received noted approval by our friends. The wine list is extensive and our friends who love wine enjoyed talking with Max and choosing two wines for our dining experience. The food was exceptionally good as was our previous experience on Valentine's Day 2018. Restaurant L will be seeing us again for a special evening.
Eating at L Restaurant was an exquisite experience. The service is impeccable, the food was delicious and spectacularly presented. Portions are just right. Neither small nor excessive. My wife and I enjoyed the price fixe concept. I worked out very well for us. This is not the place to come if you want a quick one course meal. You come here to enjoy the evening without any pressure.
As for the service, Richard greeted us at the entrance and walked us to our table. Alex promptly met us and graciously took care of us for the rest of the evening. My wife has a few special dietary needs. The menu, being price fixe is not extensive. We mentioned it to Alex and he communicated with the kitchen staff to ensure my wife’s needs were met. They altered a few details without compromising the delicious experience.
We look forward to our next visit.
Richard is always an amazing host! He always makes the guests feel special.
A superb, complete dining experience. The food is exquisite, the staff attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere is elegant without being pretentious. Richard is a master at running the front of the house and making sure each diner has a memorable experience.
Such a special experience! The service, especially, was outstanding. Everyone we interacted with went above and beyond to make the meal excellent. The restaurant is both elegant and cozy, which made for a perfect romantic date night. We were celebrating my birthday and it felt like the perfect place to enjoy a night out without the kids. I also loved the menu format- it made the night feel luxurious and stress-free to have the menu laid out as it was, creating an excellent meal simply. Dessert was the perfect ending- it was a fun way to end the meal with so many flavors and put a perfect glow to an amazing night. Thank you so much!
An amazing meal! Service and food was impeccable.
Excellent experience! Wonderful food, service and ambiance. Best dining experience in Cincinnati.
Service and food were outstanding. Small venue with an excellent ambience.
Great restaurant for celebrations, special occasions and business meetings. Fine dining at its best.
The best food and service in Cincinnati
The restaurant is beautiful, the food visually stunning, innovative, and so delicious! Our waiter, Max, was personable and attentive. Dining at Restaurant L is an experience well worth the cost.
This was our first visit to the "L" for our anniversary. We had great time... the service was great.. the food was excellent.. the ambient romantic and very pleasant. We were served complementary Champaign... the wine selection is fantastic. We'd recommend the "L" with all our hearts!
Great food . Service was very good while not overwhelming. Very good time.
What a fantastic evening! Everyone in out party was enchanted by the beauty of the L, the grace of the service, and the food was, as always, a gourmet's delight.
Always an amazing meal, this time was no exception. The service was top notch and the food on point. The cured salmon was an amazing preparation for any salmon fan. I also enjoyed the venison. It was a real mix of flavors that kept me intrigued for the entirety of the dish. It was also great to see Chef JR and chat with him. Easily one of the best restaurants in Cincinnati.
It was the most pleasurable dining experience we have had in a long time. Service and food were amazing along with the ambiance of the room.
Prix fixe is worth it for 2 but not 3 courses. First course not worth anywhere near $30. Very stingy on single glass wine pours. Otherwise service and food were great as we’ve come to expect from Jean Robert.
This was my third time dining at Restaurant L. I met with my mother-in-law with my husband to use a gift card as a gift over the holiday season. My MIL was blown away with the food and the service. Jean-Robert never disappoints. The specials they had for the first and second course were fabulous. The wine pairings were perfect. When there was a dry wine picked for one of the courses, our waiter made the effort to find a non-dry wine for my MIL upon request which was very nice. Jean-Robert even made an appearance to ask us how our food was. Always a treat to dine here. My MIL states she has been to very fine dining restaurants in NYC and other cities, but nothing could top the dinner she had here. Thank you for making our night, Restaurant L!
Fabulous menu. Particularly liked the crab app and the spring spinach and lamb ravioli.
We try to come here monthly. There can always be SOMETHING to celebrate. This time a birthday. The room is very quietly elegant. Not stuffy at all. The food is scrumptious. The bread is addicting! We had the refreshing lobster salad, lamb stuffed spinach ravioli, venison which was like butter and of course the evil, evil dessert buffet plate! The wine pairing is generous and very fairly priced. Service is unobtrusive.
Once you go to Restaurant L, I am sure you will return again. By the way, they validate your parking in the garage.
This is a very nice upscale restaurant with a French cuisine. We visited Restaurant L in the American Tower right after working hours on a weekday at about 5:00. The wine list is fairly extensive, although we chose not to have wine. The staff is excellent catering to your every need! We chose to have dinner in the lounge as we had never been to this restaurant previously and opted not to have the more expensive selection in the main dining room. After dinner, when asked if we could take a peek at other areas of the restaurant, the owner himself appeared and gave a personally guided tour of the art, decor and even the beautifully decorated restrooms. While pricey, I would highly recommend this restaurant especially for a special event.
Outstanding place and now in my top five places in Cincinnati! Really beautiful room, attention to every detail - food and service outstanding! You can choose a range of courses and parings and there is a sizable amount of food in main courses so keep that in mind. Very delicate tastings in between. Servers really know what they are doing and work as a team. Compare this level to Palm Court for context with a modern sophisticated flare. We parked in the garage below and they give us a parking voucher which is great.
The seared foie gras is my new favorite meal! The ambience is nice and the noise level is very low. Everything was delicious! The wine pairings were excellent as well. Highly recommend!!!
The choice is among 3 levels of prix fix menus. Within the menus, the choices are fairly few and what is irritating is that many of them have a surcharge. This seems the new airline mode: plenty of extra charges... The presentation of the food is outstanding, the food is good but for that level, it is not outstanding. Plenty of unusual combination of ingredients, but that do not always meld to enhance the overall taste. Attentive service, but not of the highest quality (e.g., they did splatter water on a couple of occasions while filling pour glasses, brought the wrong dish, etc). Nothing tragic, but, again, at that level and price one could expect better.
Dined in the lounge and had cocktails, the 3 course dinner and wine. We were there with a piano player and 1/2 price wine night. We requested a new wine with a description of what we wanted and the bartender consulted with the sommelier and brought a delicious wine that was spot on what we were looking for. The lounge has a very friendly atmosphere. Cudos to the bartender and staff. Will definitely go back.
I am pre-disposed to love Jean-Robert's restaurants, as he never disappoints. Restaurant L is another in his long string of culinary and aesthetic successes. The food was delicious, first and foremost, but it also adventurous and endlessly inventive. Plus, the 'prix fixe' menu encouraged me to try things I might not have otherwise tried. We went on a busy Friday night, and the service was still outstanding - great attention to detail.
This was our first visit to L and our experience exceeded our expectations. Our family of four ordered the menu gourmand. Timing was flawless and the preparations were perfectly executed. The foie and venison were exceptional and our by-the-glass wines were also new and innovative. This isn’t overly “classic” French or heavy. Plates were well-balanced and not overwhelmed with different ingredients. Sauces were excellent reductions and not heavy or overused. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Max and talking with Richard, both of whom clearly knew their businesses and took great care of us. Jean-Robert came out to greet us and we were proud that he has invested in our city to bring us a top standard of dining.
Best ever service in Cincinnati. Waiters and Maitre d' know their stuff.
From the first WOW upon entering the dining room to the last WOW after dessert, this was an all star knock out. The French linens on the tablecloth, attention to detail and fabulous food and presentations were amazing. Loved it.
The food at Restaurant L is consistently good, but I wasn't wowed by any of the courses I ordered.
We opted for the 3 course prix fixe. The lobster salad had a nice flavor, but for a $9 supplement it should have had more lobster; I wouldn't order it again. For my second course, the quail was well prepared but was a bit too salty and lacked the "something extra" to take it from good to outstanding. My favorite course was the sturgeon; the fish was excellent and paired well with the beurre rouge, celery root, and maitake mushrooms. Dessert, a plate with 5 small bites, was again good but not exceptional.
While the food leaves opportunity for improvement, the restaurant is beautiful. The decor exudes fine dining with high ceilings and a palette of silver and grays. The tables are well spaced, and the tree sculpture is a stunning focal point for the room.
The wine selection is very good, although the cocktails were just average. Service was attentive although a bit stiff. Portion sizes are on the generous side, I left the restaurant comfortably full. Overall, while we enjoyed our experience at Restaurant L, in my opinion there are better fine dining choices in Cincinnati.
An amazing dining experience!
We had the menu gourmand with wine pairing. Every dish and glass were on point. The staff, the ambiance and of course the food created an exceptional experience from start to finish. If this restaurant were in Chicago it would have at least one Michelin Star.
Unequalled dining experience. The quality of the food and wine pairings, the serving pace, the gorgeous setting are all worth it for special occasions. You definitely want to go with someone you love or want to. Amuse Bouche of smoked fish and quinoa was so delicate and flavorful - it really started the evening off and set our expectations for what turned out to be a fabulous culinary journey. The quail appetizer was a little spicier than I prefer. 3-course dinner was plenty (which comes with additional amuse bouche and dessert, and cookies), and we even ended up taking some home.
Beautiful space with fine service, excellent cocktails and ambiance, but rather disappointed in the food. Started with a fantastic amuse bouche of red quinoa. My tuna tartare was of a poor quality fish that they appeared to mask with toasted rice with a sauce and puree which did it no favor. I left half on my plate with no inquiries from the staff. Next course quail that was stuffed with very fatty chorizo which was all one could taste. My wife's halibut was bland and overcooked while my sturgeon was fair, but the sauce again added nothing. We did not finish any of our courses. However, the deserts were great.
Amazing ambience reserved for special occasions.
Priced above expectations.
Wait staff that night unfortunately not as well versed in food and beverage list as would be expected for such nice establishment.
This was my second time at Restaurant L. Never disappoints. The service was on point, and the food was delicious. My husband and I were celebrating my birthday, and we got to experience the Winter menu. We decided to both do the three course meal, mine with a wine pairing. Like last time, the wine pairings went very well with each course that I picked. The finishing touch with the birthday candle on the dessert plate and the chocolate with "happy birthday" printed on it was exquisite. I never know what to expect with all the creative menus options, but I'm never unsatisfied ever. I love coming here!
As always, we enjoy Jean Robert's restaurants, but especially "L" for it's fine dining ambiance. It really is a special place for a special occasion!
