Restaurant L Ratings and Reviews
Reservationist never returned my call. Had to call several times. Arrogant staff and Maitre’d. The servers did not serve either of our courses to the correct person and were rather strange and impersonal.
Food was outstanding but quite expensive for Cincinnati. Not
Likely to return.
L was an amazing dining experience. The food was prepared with precision and was delicious. The ambiance was very intimate and very much a date night or special occasion place. Service was extremely attentive. We enjoyed this restaurant and will definitely be going back!
This is clearly the best restaurant in the city. The atmosphere is elegant and calming. The service is always impeccable. And the food is innovative, beautifully presented and worth every penny you pay for it. The quail appetizer was the best quail I've ever tasted. And the duck main course was filled with unusual flavors. Their dessert tray with five small taste is over the top. I would suggest you get the wine pairings with each course as they blend beautifully. If you love food and fine dining, there's no better place
Outstanding evening. The food was very good. The service was top notch. It is reminiscent of the Maisonette, so if Chef de Cavel was going for that, he nailed it. Each dish was presented by servers with an explanation of the dish, sauces poured tableside, water refills upon half-empty status....all to perfection. This is the place you want to go when you want to get dressed up and know the whole room dressed up too. Prepare to spend, but it’s nice to have a place like this in Cincinnati
Understated elegance is the key adjective for this stellar Queen City restaurant. Every offering provides a distinctive taste, yet nothing overpowers the palate or overwhelms the key ingredients: culinary harmony without blandness. The wines are carefully, classically paired; even if not my usual choices, I have learned to trust their recommendations. The restaurant is comfortably and thoughtfully designed, an intimate space in the middle of downtown without the blare and bustle.
This was my first visit and the second for my wife. We went for Friday lunch. The staff is knowledgable, polite and helpful. The décor is tasteful and elegant. The staff does not rush you in any way. The food is well prepared and served. The owner came to say hello as we left. We will certainly return. Tom O, Cincinnati
Impeccable service, exquisite food, flawless evening. Richard Brown’s immaculate sensibility is apparent even before you step foot into his restaurant as beautiful music comes lofting through the lobby, beckoning you in where he welcomes you as if you are a special guest visiting his home. Every surface you see or touch has been carefully considered and artfully executed. No detail too small for his attention. The room couldn’t be more beautiful. Lush but not gaudy, quiet yet stimulating, comfortable but special, unique in style that is understated while being unforgettable. You experience elegance in every sense. And Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel is absolutely incomparable. He brings to food the same unique, creative, artistic, understated elegance, unforgettable cuisine, that his partner Richard Brown brought to designing the space. Please don’t miss an opportunity to enjoy this unique experience. The waitstaff are professional, informative and personal. Alex was attentive, engaging, thoughtful, and honest. He certainly contributed to my having a most entertaining evening. And honestly, nothing was over priced.
Amazing food and service. Going here is an experience. Take your time and enjoy! Love the little touches like the homemade madeleine cookie given in a little bag tied with a ribbon when you leave. Also always great to see chef Jean-Robert greet guests in the dining area.
A truly wonderful experience - glamorous dining area, meticulous and polite staff, a premier city view, and of course, the food. The 3-course meal w/ wine pairings was divine. Our thanks to Richard, Jean-Robert and their entire staff for a memorable evening.
I truly wanted Restaurant L to be a Cincinnati version of high-level fine dining that one has in larger cities, but was unfortunately disappointed with the level of the food in particular. It was good, but not great (at prices that rival many Michelin-starred establishments). The ambiance and service were excellent, however.
They really know how to create an experience of exquisite food and atmosphere. The price may seem intimidating to some, yet you get your money's worth. It's rare to find a place with great food, many entree options, and a wine list. We also felt treated as if we were special guests. And for a group of 6, we got a good table that was good for conversation. I will definitely go back
We have dined here numerous times and have always found the food, service and ambiance to be excellent. The staff is very friendly and they make you feel very comfortable from the moment you enter. The menu is very well arranged with excellent choices superbly prepared. The dining room is beautiful with the silver tree a real focal point not to be missed.
