Exquisite food, wonderful service in an elegant and beautiful setting. Extraordinary.
This was an amazing experience.
Any special occasion or date night; this is the perfect place!
For any foodies or those who love wonderful and delectable foods and great wines... this IS THE place!!
Most assuredly coming back!
food was beautifully and the deserts were delectable.
Absolutely the best restaurant in the area. New spring menu was superb.
Always a 5 diamond experience! The food, the atmosphere, the staff, perfection!
We went to celebrate a friend’s birthday for lunch
The flowers were incredible and the staff was exceptional. Food was delicious and a very pleasing presentation. Overall a very very nice experience
We were a party of 7. All 7 of us thought it was the best meal we ever had. The service was impeccable. The interior design was well thought out and beautiful. We all agreed we cannot wait to go back.
This is the best lunch spot in Cincinnati! I wish it was offered everyday and not just in Friday, but that keeps it special!
Had a great time all desires were accommodated for.
Family visiting from China were treated to the very BEST of Cincinnati! Jean Robert and Richard Brown pull out all stops to provide stellar regional dining. Couldn’t have asked for more and they anticipate all wants. Thanks to Jean Robert, Richard, Max and crew for making entertaining of our special guests simply flawless.
Great place for a romantic dinner. The staff was excellent.
We have been to L so many times never diappointed. The food and service are excellent all the times. Ambiance just like Michelin star restaurants we have been to in US and France. Parking is easy (very important to us) in the same building. This is our favorite restaurant for fine dining in Cincinnati.
Very high quality. Based on classic dishes, but with some updates. A great special occasion restaurant, but also good for “everyday” fine dining. The gourmand menu looks pricey, but for a 2.5 - 3 hr 7-course experience it’s actually a good value. Friendly staff who work to make your experience the best. They’ve earned our repeat business, and we have to drive 2 hrs each way.
Perfectly wonderful and outstanding in every way!
Restaurant L is a unique dining experience. Combinations of flavors that you would never imagine, served with beautiful presentation. While it is VERY pricey, it is money well spent. Even my very frugal wife thought that the price was worth the experience.
Everything about this restaurant is first class, from the interior, to the service and especially the food
The food was very good and very unique. It is the perfect place for a special occasion.
It was a delightful experience. The flowers were fabulous. Loved the decor. The music was French. The service was first class.
I chose the 8-course dinner with wine pairings. Duck, potato and watercress soup, lobster salad, goose liver, red snapper, steak, cheese, sorbet and flan. Champagne, light white, crisp white Bordeaux, full-bodied white Burgundy, Sauterne, Cabernet, St. Emilion Bordeaux, Sauterne. The wine complemented the flavors of the foods, which ranged from the familiar to the unexpected. We started early at 5:30 PM and left about 4 hours later. Yes, one person in our party was the designated driver. There are two and three-course options for those headed to the theatre or club.
The food and service were fabulous! Loved it. We will be back!
Service was terrible. There were 2....yep, 2 other people in the lounge when we arrived AND throughout our dinner there.....our server was non-existent unless you count being behind the bar talking to the other two patrons as being existent.
The server asked us twice if we wanted bread....both times we said "yes", but we didn't receive any bread until right when our entree's came out some 35 minutes later and even then it was one piece each. Next to no communication from anyone during our wait for our food and we only ordered entree's....not too difficult.
The food was at least decent as we had the filet mignon and the snapper. Nothing special for $115; in fact overpriced.
Overall, we were extremely disappointed with our experience and will not be back.
We dined at four of the top rated restaurants during a stay in Cincinnati of a few days. My wife and I have been to nearly every top restaurant in the area over the last several years. This one tops them all by a significant margin. The attention to detail regarding every aspect of the dining experience is superb, particularly the food. It’s not cheap, but worth every dollar if you enjoy fine dining and superlative service in an exquisite setting. The house wine pairings were precisely in point and enhanced each course. Max’s service was extraordinary. I can not recommend this restaurant more highly.
Server was terrible. Flustered the whole time, forgot half of order, was totally not flexible with simple request. Music was not good. Nice dining area. Bartender was nice. Girl helping the server was nice. Food was ok but a little bland.
Wonderful evening! Celebrating niece's 21st birthday. What a treat for her...and for us! Food and service was beyond outstanding. We had the 2-course prix fixe and it was more than enough, especially with the 5 tiny deserts they brought each of us. It was definitely an evening to remember.
This is the finest restaurant in Cincinnati. I love Boca, Orchids, and the others. But Richard Brown and Jean Robert de Cavel have returned the five-star flair of the Maisonette to Cincinnati. Impeccable and delightful!
I have loved most of Jean Robert's restaurants, But my wife and I were both disappointed with the food here. Every item I ordered including the lobster salad, the salmon, and the Chicken entrée were overdosed with a mixture of grains that overwhelmed the dishes. My vegan daughter loves to chew on these types of grains, not sure if it was barley, couscous, or some other health food, but it added nothing to the flavor, and to have it repeated in every dish was disappointing. Usually we love the sauces and all the other items that accompany the dish served, but not at all here. The service was decent, but they mixed up our order, forgot to serve the bread, and we waited a bit long in between courses and to get our check. The room is very nice as was the bar area.
Some of Our Jean Robert Paris group from years ago getting together for a late Valentine’s dinner
We splurge here every anniversary and as often as we can afford to in between. The Arctic Char preparation is like none other in the world. Hard to pass up, even though there are so many other worthwhile dishes. Every course is memorable, as is the very professional service and pacing. Unforgettable.
This is my favorite spot for fine dining in Cincinnati since it has opened. And just sitting in this gorgeous room makes for a splendid experience. It is visually stunning just as each course is visually stunning. The mix of flavors is always perfect as are the portion sizes. No it's not priced for everyday dining in the main room but you can also get a killer $12 lunch in the bar on Fridays. If you are a foodie, this spot has to be your number one stop in the city.
Service this trip was wonderful as always. The staff is well trained, warm and efficient.
Love the table service and knowledgeable staff. Thank you for a great experience.
Wonderful dining experience. Always a pleasure to dine at Restaurant L. The food, service and ambiance cannot be beat. Very comfortable and romantic setting that facilitates quiet conversation. Always made to feel at home. Very friendly staff. Love the wine pairing option. Always explain how the wines compliment the course.
The food was excellent. Front of the house not so much. We tried the three course tasting menu with wine pairings. Flavors were bright and complex. The food experience was outstanding. On arrival, however we were warmly greeted then left standing alone for about 15 minutes. As we left after the meal, the hostess was nowhere to be found and our coats were laying across her stool unattended at the front door. Not the goodbye you'd expect after dropping $350 on dinner.
Overall great, but the service at the beginning of our meal and the end was very slow. Once they took our order, things progressed appropriately and the food was excellent; once we ordered dessert, then things slowed to s standstill, we were not offered coffee and we sat around for over an hour before a waiter even came close enough for me to summon to ask for the check.
The wait to be sat down was too long , a member of the wait staff saw us but ignored us and made no attempt to communicate . Just " Someone will be right with you " or "good morning " would have defused my impatience.
The restaurant decor is just wonderful the centre piece metal tree adorned with at this time vases of tulips was outstanding a true testament to the designer.
First contact at the table was good water offered and drink order taken, but then a long wait again.
Ok what about the food ? Duck confit with poached egg masterful, warm and delicious the soft runny yolks adding another texture/taste layer to an already rich dish took it to another level.
Lobster bisque the bowl garnished and the soup poured from a silver pot. A journey back to the heady days of the 70s.
Alas the bisque was poorly seasoned and bitter to.the taste, no seasoning on the table, and not able to catch a servers attention to try and remedy it.
Bread service I could have just dined on that, the raisin rolls were spectacular, the butter had a stale fridge taste, but I loved them san butter.
Halibut on a bed of jasmine rice and wilted spinach with beurre blanc that was poured on by our server.
It was a nice presentation well seasoned but didn't excite me as the confit did.
The beurre blanc well it wasnt! beurre blanc is a reduction of white wine and shallots "monte au beurre " it should be an emulsifiction. Not cream based it took a lot away from the delicate taste of the fish In my opinion.
Rest rooms are beautifully decorated and ultra clean, cloth hand towels is a great touch.
Look out for the plaster molded panels on the wall there stunning.
Its not on my list of definatly go back to places but I will try it again, even if it's just for the decor , duck confit and great bread rolls
Best meal we've ever had. The staff were able to help us understand the menu and order from it despite our lack of experience at high end restaurants. It is expensive, but I cannot wait to go back again.
Great love this place...
We came to celebrate our anniversary, this was our second time here. Beautiful room very elegant, we chose the two course dinner with wine pairing. On the food- for this level of restaurant we were expecting to be amazing. Some of the dishes were very good (foie gras, and special halibut) others were just average (duck well prepared but contours were at best average , dessert pretty looking nothing special in taste or textures). Service - overall it was very good but again for his level of restaurant you would expect impecable service and attention to detail, we had to remind our server to bring our wine for pairing with each dish as he forgot
This was world class food and world class service. We had an exceptional experience. Robert and Tim provided exceptional service.
Amazing! What a wonderful dining experience! We will definitely be returning!
