The assiette de charcuterie is phenomenal. I haven't tried the egg dishes but they look quite good. The beef tartare is excellent also. It's a place where you can linger and no one tries to rush you; what a welcome change!
Had breakfast brunch here on new years day. Good choices, friendly staff. I had a smoked salmon bagel with loached eggs. Very tasty. My wife had a salmon tartar, which she enjoyed. It was a bit pricey due to the holiday New Years Day menu price.
Great service with smiles. Overall great. Maybe a little overpriced but acceptable.
We journeyed to Hambar for the last night of our trip to Montreal. Contrary to most of reviews which seemed to indicate a lively, loud spot, it was practically deserted the night we were there. We sat at the bar and had great service from an attentive bartender. Our food, however, was pretty lackluster for the price. My pasta was particularly bad - it was really chewy and lacked in flavor. I would consider trying Hambar again later at night for a post-drinks charcuterie plate or similar but won't be going back for dinner.
Went during Christmas day for lunch. Obviously good brunch fare / holiday menu was offered. But more importantly, they were very accommodating when we requested off-menu (not on the holiday menu) charcuterie board for the table, given that this place is known for it. Kitchen and staff accommodated us in this regard and made our experience that much better.
Lovely restaurant, great staff and delish food. Had a lovely evening.
The food was delicious. Service was gracious but not overbearing. On a cold snowy night the restaurant was warm and welcoming. Would go back if we were in Montreal again
The food was very good and the night I went the waiter was particularly attentive, friendly and offered excellent recommendations.
For a high end place... why do they have a stupid tv with sports? If I wanted to go to a sport bar I would have gone to Crescent street. Loose the tv is makes you cheap and a horrible experience.
Food tasted great, but it could have been a little more warm! Service could have been a little better, but the atmosphere was great!
Went for brunch and was very disappointed. The waitstaff seemed undertrained and inattentive. We asked basic questions about food preparation and two people seemed dumbfounded. The food was ok but not great and terrible value.
For me, coffee is important and their coffee was barely mediocre. Is it too hard have cream for coffee? Can you offer some Splenda or sweetener? Why didn’t you suggest a Bellini or Mimosa? For me, Hambar is a stereotypical hotel restaurant. Great concept but the execution was dreadful. There are far better brunch options blocks away.
Really expensive regarding the food quality we had. Quantity really small. Good really basic.
Excellent rapport qualité-prix.
We had excellent good and drinks, scotch for one of us and Moscow like for the other. We shared the octopus appetizer which was a surprise when presented and every bite delicious. My husband had the duck, expertly prepared and I had the lobster risotto, the best I've had and with a generous amount of large pieces of lobster as well.
