Restaurant Fourteen Seventy Two - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We had made a reservation for Sunday at 10:00 am. We were the first group in the door and right of the bat they seemed to be inconvenienced that we had children with us. We actually had to grab the high chairs ourselves. They proceeded to seat us at the only table in the restaurant that was getting blasted by the morning sun - and of course they don't have any window shades. Other than the fried chicken and waffles, the food was mediocre and took forever.
Our group was clearly made up of several different couples, but the waitress made no attempt to split the checks or make it easy for us.
Lovely little find near Washington Park. We were impressed by the service, but the food was what we really thought knocked it out of the park. Very good for very reasonable prices. We will be back! This whole area on Pearl Street was hopping with energy. Looks like other potential good restaurants nearby.
The wait staff was exceptional. Except the hostess that kept looking at me and coughing which made me feel very uncomfortable! I felt as though she didn't want me there!
My waiter was a great guy and very helpful. The bartender also bent over backwards to keep us both happy so I thought the wait staff was amazing overall.
Overall the experience was good. Having lived in New Orleans for years I thought the food was good. My girlfriend ordered the fried chicken and was not able to find gravy which troubled her. I do understand the menu didn't lend itself to gravy but it would have been nice!
I will go back sometime to try other things on the menu.
If you're craving comfort food in a nice but casual atmosphere, fourteen seventy two is the ticket. We had the smoked chile relleno appetizer and it was outstanding. Our fried chicken and meatloaf entrees were excellent as well. Be sure to come with a big appetite, portions are generous!
Not as good as the last time. We sat on the patio which was great to people watch. However, it was extremely dark and we couldn't even see our food, least of all attempt to cut it. We finally took our plates inside, cut it up and then returned to our seats. This design flaw needs to be corrected.
They are really trying an their staff is great. It's just not completely pulled together. We are picky about our food. We did see lots of families from the neighborhood which is a great sign. The waiter recommended a table away from the speakers. ( We're 65+ so we greatly appreciated this!)
