It was awesome! A table of eight sat next to us and were extremely loud. They comped our desserts and apologized for the noise level. We were really surprised. Food was awesome as well as the service. One of our best meals EVER!! We will definitely go back an we would highly recommend going to August for dinner. It was well worth the money.
Not as good as it used to be.
Ambience, service, food appearance and taste, were all near to perfection. I cannot think of a single negative comment. Loved the experience of dining at this delightful restaurant.
An amazing dining experience. Delicious and inventive food, yet not pretentious. Warm and knowledgeable service.
AMAZING111 A wonderful night.. Service was outstanding
We went for an anniversary celebration. The food was excellent, the waitstaff was attentive, knowledgeable, and very professional. Such a great dining experience!
I was at August with my daughter (34 years old, Assistant Professor of Chemistry in Oregon) celebrating her birthday and the happy announcement that my third grandchild is on the way.(!)
It is interesting that there were a number of people in the bar with jeans and T-shirts- but that's NOLA.
The ambiance was very nice in the restaurant. Lighting was good and the upper level wine library display was inviting. Our server was hospitable. It was a little odd that he always bent at the waist with his hands on his knees when he addressed us. It was like my dinner guest and I were high schoolers out at a nice restaurant before prom. No problem there either, just a bit odd.
We had the salad of heirloom beets and the foie gras. Both very good. I had a nice Riesling to drink to pair with the foie gras.
Entrees: I had the roasted snapper with a seasoned BBQ sauce which I requested on the side. The preparation was good, I just didn't appreciate the cayenne. My mistake. Should have ordered the pampano almondine. My daughter had flounder Pontchartrain with Bearnaie sauce. She said it was delicious.
Desserts (roasted white chocolate and the pineapple soufflé, resp.) were quite good, as was the coffee.
Great service, amazing meal. I dined solo and was treated really well.
The flounder is truly excellent but even though I really enjoy high end dining, August’s menu is a bit too pretentious for me. My companion had difficulty finding something she thought she’d like on the limited menu.
This was our 3rd time dining here. The service felt rushed and the wait staff a bit downtrodden. While a couple of our courses were good, there were also a couple that just didn’t work. Maybe interesting concepts, but not always balanced. With so many other great options I think we are ready to move on.
Delicious food. Every choice was excellent! Top restaurant! Highly recommend.
Not sure which was more amazing the food or the service. The whole experience was incredible and Robert made it memorable. Hands down best food and service in the big easy.
Great ambiance and food
Chef Ross was phenomenal!! Best meal ever!
Appetuzers (gnocchi & oysters) excellent, founder too much sauce, snapper meh, duck and pompano very good. We have dined here several times and loved it. And was our “go to” for special occasions. This time a disappointment.
Outstanding and Robert our server was unreal.
It is a very upscale restaurant every thing was top class and price was very reasonable
We were there to celebrate a birthday on a special trip to New Orleans. The service, food, and ambiance were all excellent. I will definitely return on my next visit to NO.
We attended lunch on a Friday. They alway have a great menu. The food and service were excellent as it usually is. It lunch is a really good value.
Awesome as usual.
Second visit to August. As fantastic as our first visit. Food was stellar, service was excellent. We enjoy how the dishes are rooted in tradition, but the chef is not afraid to go in new directions. The shrimp etouffe is a good example of this.
I would say that August is thus far my favourite place in NOLA for Creole cuisine in an upscale room.
I was a bit disappointed in the food at August for the first time. This was my 4th visit...I always go when in NOLA. I'll go back, but I wonder if the quality is slipping just a bit without John Besh around...?
The vegetable tasting menu was amazing.
Food and service were amazing. Great cocktails too. Tasting menu is a must. We enjoyed every course and had a wonderful time. Will definitively come back.
This was the best restaurant I've ever been to! The food was DELICIOUS!
Beautiful restaurant, top class service. Our server (Brad? I wish I knew for sure) was personable, professional, and knowledgeable about every ingredient in every dish we asked about . My husband had a coctail that had cilantro & Jalepeno & absolutely loved it! They brought an Amuse bouche that was phenomenal and both presentation and taste! I had crunchy pompano which was exquisite and my husband had a spicy red fish that was also delicious!
Pretty much a perfect experience. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff attentive and the food was superb! We were served the courses at a nice pace but never felt rushed. Definitely a special occasion destination.
Excelente no dejen de ir, es espectacular
One of the best meals I’ve ever had in New Orleans. The entire experience was fantastic. Small intimate place so it can be loud.
The price for the cocktail a margarita was outrageous $28. Although the food was delicious, the …were limited. We didn’t even have A dessert due to lack of options.
Went here 5 years ago and was expecting another great experience but something changed and it was a huge disappointment. Would not go back at this point.
Fine food and service. Heaven for vegetarians.
I heard so much about this restaurant before I ever arrived in New Orleans. However, it lived up to expectations and beyond. The ambiance and quality of wait staff was top notch, but the food was the game changer. It was outstanding!
We were so disappointed after looking so forward to dining at Restaurant August. We had a sour-looking male waiter in the small back dining room and we trusted his entree suggestions—our first mistake. The amusee bouche was delicious and met certainly met our expectations. IMMEDIATELY, it was followed by our appetizers which were fine with plates whisked away immediately, and then our entrees appeared IMMEDIATELY. We mentioned to the female assistant server that it felt as if we were in a fast food restaurant; she proceeded to laugh and specify each entree that she had placed on the table. At the end of the meal our waiter appeared to inquire if we had enjoyed our meal. We told him it had come much too quickly since we had only been there a total of 40 minutes at which point he turned around and walked away. He then returned and plunked dessert menus in front of us and uttered not one word and walked away. His assistant male waiter inquired if we wanted dessert and was sympathetic to our unhappiness and offered a dessert on the house which we declined. No one asked if we wanted tea, coffee or an after dinner drink. That same assistant brought our check and handled our payment transaction. We never saw our waiter again after he placed the dessert menus in from of us! It should be noted that the table of 4 next to us were having the tasting menu, were there before us, and had been served only two plates. It should be noted, I guess, that a very large convention of orthopedists was in town, but we, too, had made reservations and did not receive this type of treatment at Commander’s Palace or Revolution. Dine at August if you want eat at a Friday’s type of faster food type of restaurant with a similar type waiter.
Great atmosphere. EXCELLENT food. Prepared to your palate. Service is superb. Ask for Robert. Hostess not as poised as the rest of the staff.
Fabulous on every level!
Spent a week in NOLA. August was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we had.
Service was outstanding as well as the food. I highly recommend this place.
Service was poor, I don't feel I was much welcomed in that restaurant as a minority. My 4 year old spilled that water and I apologized for him but all I got was a stone-faced attitude. Food was just ok compare to the price they charge. I ordered the signature dish "Flounder" and it was tasteless, Duck was so raw and I had hard time to cut it. Will not recommend unless it is for business.
While service was excellent the food was a let down
We had the degustation menu and were generally disappointed.
We also did lunch at Commander’s Palace and what an experience it was..truly fine dining experience.. every dish was flavourful and delicious.
