As usual, food and service spot on. You cannot go wrong with anything you order here.... and that's saying something from a notorious food snob lol. Different this time was we had a chance to interact with the sommelier- she is AMAZING. We gave her a few flavor profiles we liked and disliked and she chose the PERFECT wine for us. Truly, this lady is fantastic. Thank you for making our evening even more memorable.

My second visit this evening, and while it was nice, it wasn't the astounding experience I've had before... possible that I've set a very high standard for August, though...

I want to like August more than I actually did on our last visit. I respect the sommelier, but wonder if her body of knowledge leads to some ennui when it comes to selecting a good wine pairing for those of us who don't have our nose in a glass 5 minutes before sipping. The food is characterized by a seeming dedication to creativity over actual taste and enjoyment of a well prepared. Just over the top -- but not over the top in terms of taste. Sorry, August, we won't be joining you next visit to NOLA.

Food and ambiance are nice, but not great. Service was friendly but rushed. First course arrived before cocktails, and I had to ask the waiter to slow things down a little. More fine dining for tourists; they explained what an amuse bouche was.

My wife and I were very pleased with our experience. We were seated timely for our reservation and greeted warmly. Our waiter knew the menu well and gave thoughtful suggestions. The wine list is massive! Something for everyone and many at very reasonable markup. We enjoyed the flounder and sweet breads. We were not rushed and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to August. I had a little concern beforehand because of changed in the company but they were unfounded.

Amazing food . Pity that they put us next to an obnoxious 7 years old kid at 8:30pm ... i thought kids should be in bed by then not screaming in elegant restaurants... Oh well ...

Our reservations were at 6 pm on an evening when the restaurant was virtually empty (Saints Game in town). Greeter attempted to put up at the only two top in the restaurant. I asked for a better table - 4 top. We were easily accommodated. The restaurant is stunning and good food. Thought expensive but a special occasion. We will return.

My wife and I enjoyed our 12th anniversary at August. I have to say, from start to finish it was the best meal I’ve had. Many off-the-menu recommendations by the staff that were top notch. The entire staff was also first class. I give August my highest recommendation possible. We will be back very soon!!! A+

We were in New Orleans for Thanksgiving, and I made reservations at August as they were going to be open. The place is gorgeous, service is amazing, and the food was outstanding. My poor husband had a cold, so he wasn't so thrilled with his food as he couldn't taste it, poor baby. The gnocchi was the most amazing thing I have ever eaten!

My husband and I went to Restaurant August for thanksgiving dinner. The food was great especially the royal shrimp and crab ravigote. I got the scallops which were delicious and plentiful. My husband got the red snapper which he said tasted divine but was a very small portion. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Lovely Thanksgiving dinner
While the only “traditional” items were turkey and sweet potatoes, it was well-paced and planned. Would have liked something a little more traditional for dessert.

Was disappointed with the quality of food for the price. Have been to many other fine dining restaurants in New Orleans with much better quality and quantity of food for the same or less price. Would not recommend.

Definitely felt the hit to the Besh Group. I was disappointed in the service as it is usually sharp. I made these reservations prior to the 'fallout'. First time that I have seen empty tables on a Saturday night. I have been a frequent guest here in the past and I have never thought that the $ outweighed the meal but this time...I did. I hope this gem doesn't go down the tubes. JB needs to get in the kitchen and come out to every table and shake a hand. I can go anywhere, and I will.

We are from the SF Bay Area and in New Orleans for the first time. We heard a lot about the wonderful culinary experience and so far every one of the highly rated restaurants we tried have proven to be excellent.

We read about Restaurant August and decided to give it a try for lunch. The food was amazing but the service was less than what we would have expected from a restaurant of this caliber. Maybe it was because we were in our travel attire when we showed up for our reservation, but the receptionist was not very friendly and welcoming. We were surprised that this experience also extended to the wait staff who seem to have this stoic look on their faces. There were no smiles or any effort for friendly conversation, not even a question on how we liked the food.

We have eaten at many well regarded restaurants and this stuffy manner seems to be out of sync with the modern times. I hope management can pay some attention to this essential element of creating an enjoyable dining experience for their guests. Again, we enjoyed the food but the attitude could definitely use some improvement.

A buddy and I were in N.O. for an evening and opted for a “classic” dinner at August. Beautiful place and the staff were really on top of their game. We had the gnocchi appetizer, which I recommend, and the red snapper and the Pontchartrain flounder for our entrees. Both were good but rather bland in taste and presentation - we expected more. Overall a good experience but the food seemed uninspired. The photo is the red snapper with chorizo.
