Excellent service. Foie gras three ways appetizer was outstanding. Flounder was excellent. Sunflower seed ice cream was wonderful--not a food that I thought that I would ever taste.
Delicious food and great service. Highly recommend
One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. Arguably, the absolute best. Went to August on a whim because the menu looked great. Using open table I let the restaurant know we were recently married and also celebrating an anniversary. We were received and seated quickly but welcoming. Our table had two staff attending to us which kept the flow uninterrupted and steady. We ordered the potato gnocchi with crab meat and lobster ravioli to start, with a round of cocktails. The sauces with both dishes were so amazing we couldn’t help but slop some bread. The fresh truffle slices on the gnocchi, paired with the expertly crafted potato shells and sweet crab meat, was something just short of life changing in the scheme of tastes. Soon to follow with another masterfully blended cocktail that had hints of pepper and grapefruit was our entree of founder Pontchartrain and blackened swordfish. I've eaten fine dining restaurants in many countries and all over the U.S., but the crispy skin, sauces, crispy rice and charred cheeses that accompanied these inspiring fish dish was unforgettable. On the house, August went the extra mile not only to bring us one of the most interestingly tasting garlic whipped appetizer and acknowledging our milestone with a dessert combo that rings of Nola artistic expression on a plate like a canvas with sugary paints. Having written congratulations on the plate, snapping our photo and capping the experience off with a perfectly paired expresso martini, we ended our night at August with an impression that easily ranks in the top three restaurant experiences of all time. Don't overlook this place as you'll miss a dining opportunity of a lifetime. Just remember, you're paying for the experience and skills of crafting this food more so than the portions. Start to finish, this is place was exceptional. Thanks to the staff and chef at August for such a great evening!
Amazing food and attentive service. Pricey but worth it.
August is still arguably the best restaurant in New Orleans. Beautiful ambiance, great service, and, above all, wonderful, adventurous food. On this visit, I particularly enjoyed the lobster tortellini appetizer. I chose August for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed.
The service was poor, our waitress forgot to take our entre order until reminded by us, after we had been there for one and one half hours. She then put the blame on us saying “you have to leave so early. She also neglected to tell me an item had gluten in it after I told her I was gluten free. It was our anniversary, bummer. Otherwise the salad and appetizer we had was good but very small.
Duck entree was tough and tendony. Took 20 to 30 seconds each bite to cut through tendon which ran from end to end of piece. Really had to saw saw saw. Other than that the dish was delicious.
Service was truly outstanding.
As good a restaurant as there is in New Orleans
Wonderful service and impeccable food. I would recommend to my pickiest friends!
Anniversary dinner, had a great time!
Impeccable food (creativity, quality, presentation, taste), service and enchanting, inviting setting.
Our favorite restaurant in New Orleans. Service is top notch and the food is exquisite. Three trips over a period of years with not a single misstep.
Great meal. We had high hopes and were not disappointed. The appetizers were particularly strong. I also appreciated our short visit to the bar before our meal. The drinks and service there was noteworthy.
While the service was good there was room for improvement we were a small party surrounded by larger groups and that may have made hard to get the attention of our waiter at times. We expect to go back soon.
August was great. We had an early reservation (5:15) so they were just getting started for the evening. We both had the degustation menu without paired wines, and the kitchen easily adapted to my husband's egg allergy without quibble or concern. They brought out the food in a timely but non-pressured manner, staff unobtrusively reset the table at every course and were present without being overbearing. They know what they're doing at August - and it made for a fantastic, delicious meal. Thank you for making our quick overnight stay in NOLA lovely.
Had the tasting menu. Food was good. Wait staff was excellent and the sommelier very knowledgeable.
Excellent food, wine, ambiance, and service. An exquisite experience!
The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. I had the blackened swordfish and it was amazing. The peaches and cream dessert was delicious but was leftover from the summer menu.
I do not dine anywhere else when I am in New Orleans! I went there twice on this trip!
It was delish and beautiful ... mom and sister were not super comfortable as it was a bit more fancy than expected ... but still lovely and wonderful.
Best Restaurant in New Orleans ! I had the Gnocci and it was AWESOME! I had the fish for entree and it was delish.
The service food and ambience were absolutely lovely. Can’t wait to go back. The staff took extra time and care and making sure my birthday was very special occasion. A+
What a great experience. A simple business lunch with a friend. It was all exceptional. I wish I remembered our server’s name because he was awesome! Love this place!
Exceptional from start to finish!
Truly an amazing experience, atmosphere, service and food was wonderful.
The service is impeccable and the food delicious and expertly prepared. The fried quail appetizer was spectacular - crispy on the outside but tender and very flavorful on the inside. Our fish was cooked perfectly and the seasonings complemented but did not overpower the delicate flavor of the fish. The flank steak was a special and was also delicious. Desserts were also very good and the craft cocktails perfectly made. A truly enjoyable dining experience once again.
We have come to New Orleans twice now from Seattle and this place will always be on the list when we come visit! It is an elegant night out with amazing food! The must try’s are the gnocchi, the corn and crab bisque, the hanger steak and the dorado! There is a reason this restaurant has so many stars and reviews! Thanks again for a fantastic evening!
Best restaurant in New Orleans. Exquisite true high end food and service.!!! You will not be disappointed!!
Restaurant August was outstanding. All three diners in our party had an excellent meal. The menu is not large - what they do they do very well. Delicious, great presentation and excellent service!
I choose the degustation menu and the octopus was salty and the halibut good but not exelent
Our fourth visit to restaurant August. While the food was still good, our experience had a slippage in the service levels we are used to. All four of us were delivered wrong entrées, and the bottle of red wine arrived 20° warmer than proper serving temperature. Certainly easy to make errors, but not for a place with this reputation.
Wonderful ambience, good service although they forgot our side order of fries, tomato caprese salad starter was fantastic, pork chop also although the kale veg on the side had way too much balsamic vinegar, great lemon meringue ice cream pie, nice wine. All in all very good.
Restaurant was very hot inside. Other than that, amazing dining experience.
This is, without a doubt, one of my most favorite restaurants in the world. I have been three times, had the tasting menu each time, and am always enamored with the food and service. The meals are creative, delicious, and filling. I highly recommend it
Went here as part of Restaurant Week 2019. All around great service and ambience. Wish they had done a better job of explaining that the fish entree was in essence a giant fish stick.
Amazing food and definitely the best restaurant in New Orleans.
This was our 30th anniversary dinner and it was perfect. The restaurant itself has a fin di ciecle elegance and the food is truly unique and excellent in every way.
The service is warm and welcoming without being obsequious but every need, spoken or unspoken, is met quickly.
It was the type of place you can linger over a meal for hours and the staff never makes you feel rushed.
Gnocchi was magnificent. Oyster appetizer was excellent. Service was beyond great.
Restaurant August is one of our favorite restaurants, not just in New Orleans, but anywhere. We never miss it when in town. The food is fantastic, the ambiance is unbeatable, and the people are warm and wonderful. Can’t be beat for a perfect, romantic evening of fine dining. (Facebook Page: Lucky Switzer)
The restaurant was absolutely stunning. The service not so and the food was very usual. The price tag was hefty.
