   The star of the experiences - we ate there twice - was definitely Clara, who was charming, helpful (in perfect English) and enthusiastic, but you'll have to hurry to get her before she completes her chemistry studies at the Sorbonne. Fortunately, the incredibly high quality of the food will doubtless survive her departure. The mezes were excellent, with pride of place going to the Fattete Assanabel and the Loubia. The portions are substantial, so we only got to one of the grillades: the Fatayel Djaj was memorable. The Lebanese ice cream was a great experience, with a different but attractive texture. The quality/price ratio was ideal. The location on Rue Jacob is perfect. (You have to be fairly careful about this - there are two other restaurants called Assanabel in Paris, and I accidentally booked the wrong one and was chided for my non-appearance).

   There are countless Lebanese restaurants in Paris, possibly more than from any other country. Some are take-out places that focus on street food, some informal cafes. I researched the best Lebanese restaurants and found one close to us in St. Germain, one of the oldest in Paris, called Assanabel, and after a lazy morning, we headed there for lunch. Wow! We ordered six mezzes (small plates), and every one of them was absolutely delicious, with just the right balance of herbs and spices to excite the palate. We orders their house Hummus Assanabel (made with garbanzo beans, sesame oil, lemon, parsley and garlic), Chankliche (a goat cheese salad with herbs, tomato, olive oil), Loubia (haricots verts cooked in a tomato concasse), Moujadara (lentils, onions, rice), Kellage (oven baked pita with halloumi cheese, zaatar, tomato), and Fatayer (spinach beignets with pine nuts and sumac). When we ordered mint tea after our meal, they gifted us a plate of irresistible baklava. This was one the very best meals we enjoyed in Paris.

    J’ai adoré le restaurant Assanabel ! La cuisine libanaise était délicieuse, avec des plats savoureux et bien préparés. Le service était également excellent, très chaleureux et attentioné. Je recommande vivement ce restaurant ! Je tiens à souligner le service exceptionnel fourni par Clara et Isac. Ils ont rendu notre séjour encore plus agréable et confortable.     We dined at Assanabel last night and the experience totally lived up to the expectations created by reading other reviews. The food was fresh & delicious and the portions generous. Our server was delightful- I was later to discover that she is Clara, mentioned by many other reviewers. She is a true asset. When we declined the offer of dessert she asked us to wait a moment- she had a surprise for us. What followed was a beautiful fruit platter. A perfect end to a perfect dining experience! We will certainly return when we next visit Paris.

    I am here in Paris for the first time celebrating my Milestone birthday!!!! I was looking on OpenTable and came across this JEWEL!!! Our service from beginning to end was PHENOMENAL! I am Palestinian so I’m very picky about Arabic food! Everything we had was AMAZING! What’s more is our beautiful Lebanese waitress Clara was OUTSTANDING! She was so sweet, courteous, professional, and suggested items we should order for our party of 3! We had a variety of amazing mazza and the mixed grill of keffta, chicken and lamb. Sooo delicious!!! We were engaging in conversation with her and felt like we’ve known her forever and she made us feel we could stay all evening…which we practically did. lol. And before she left for the evening, she came to say goodbye to us and wished us a safe and happy time for our remainder of our stay in Paris. Also they presented me with a surprise assortment of HB desserts and sang Happy Birthday to me AND gave us a complimentary bottle of delicious cut up fruit. It didn’t end there!! In addition the handsome man who gave us our bill was also AMAZING! So courteous & friendly! When I mentioned to him, I loved the Arabic song they were playing, I noticed that the music was turned up louder. We also asked about hookah places and he provided recommendations! DON’T HESITATE!! Make a RESERVATION and ENJOY the entire experience from the ambiance, to the staff and the excellent food!!!
