Great experience. Had Squash and Octopus small plates and Mushroom/Rice dish as an entree. ALL FANTASTIC. Cheesecake closed the deal. Will return AGAIN, AGAIN
First time I made another reservation while still eating at. The restaurant. Enough said. We will be back as often as we can
Fantastic food and experience
From the moment you walk in the door you feel as though you are entering your best friends house. You are greeted with a warm and welcoming reception which continues through out the evening.
The food will leave you wanting to lick the plates clean and ask for another.
One of the best meals I’ve had in Richmond! Lovely service and amazing wine suggestions. We shared 8 tapas dishes amount 4 of us and it was more than enough. Definitely will be back!
Great place. All dishes excellent except Gnocchi ( not a Basque dish anyway)
A nice relaxing evening. Excellent food, A creative cocktail and a wonderful atmosphere
Excellent experience! We’ll be back!
We love Adarra. It’s our go-to and I highly recommend for delicious food and drinks. 12/10
The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly & knowledgeable about the interesting dishes.
Really interesting food and lovely design. My only complaint was that the A/C was cranked too high making the room really chilly.
Food was delicious and server was great!
The service and food were outstanding. I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant for a meat and potatoes palate, but it’s perfect for foodies. If you are interested in unique food that is wonderfully prepared, Adarra is a great choice. Our server offered excellent guidance and was attentive without being intrusive. We also liked the ambiance of the restaurant and appreciated that the noise level was lively without being horribly loud. Our group definitely plans on coming back to Adarra.
I loved the chef's food when he was at Nota Bene so had to try Adarra. Lovely food and exceptional service. Enjoyed all the specials and the wine recommendation from our server. Don't miss dessert, the Basque cheesecake with the olive oil drizzle is so amazing. Will return to try more!
Every single dish was stellar as were cocktails. We dined on outside patio which was lovely. Service was impeccable. Best restaurant in Richmond!
A real gem. The fisherman's stew special was exceptionally good. Highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
Lovely dinner and atmosphere. Can't wait to dine again!
The food is always spectacular.
Wonderful dinner at Adarra -- I highly recommend it!
The food was very creative and a very interesting combination of ingredients that worked really well together
Will definitely be going back
The Adarra’s staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Our waitress, was above and beyond. She helped shape our palates to exactly what direction we were looking for. The food was above expectations, although a bit pricey, I highly recommend you open your wallets to this place. Job well done! PS: Get the cheesecake.
Always exquisite - wine selection and guidance that isn’t available anywhere else in town, creative and delicious plates, and friendly service.
Always beyond fantastic. Never have had a single detail ever not be wonderful here. Food service wine cocktails ambiance inside or outside. Hands down our favorite spot in the city.
The experience of dining at Adarra was perfect from the moment we walked in to the moment we left this little jewel of a restaurant. The cocktails were interesting and delicious, while each plate we ordered was sublime. We received solid advice from the gracious owner on what dishes to order and how many, and left feeling sated and satisfied, but not stuffed! Not only do we plan to return soon, we will encourage all of our friends to try Adarra as well!
Fantastic evening, beginning to end! The entire staff was so friendly, and the food, beverages, and service were all outstanding! Can’t wait to come back.
We had a great experience at Adarra. Every dish was amazing and we enjoyed our cocktails and wine. The service was friendly and our dishes were paced perfectly.
Once again, dining at Adarra is such a great experience! The attention they put into their service is matched by the quality of the food. Always such a treat!
We asked for their recommendations for food and wine throughout our meal, and everything was fantastic! Jamon, heirloom tomatoes and basil salad, almonds, squid, clams, lamb…Spanish Red wine, but from the Canary Islands…always great pairings and selections that we wouldn’t see at other restaurants in Richmond. We can’t to go back!
We enjoyed the various flavors of the tapas and character of Adarra. A nice gem in RVA.
Wonderful option for quick stopover in Richmond! The gnocchi were spectacular and the cold almond soup was a perfect summer selection.
Had the restaurant select our options and were surprised with every thing we ate. Incredible food! Interesting wine choices that made the meal. So thankful they are in Richmond.
Will definitely be going back again! The food was excellent, the ambiance was beautiful and comforting, our waitress made our ordering experience so fun, and the owner happened to swing by to give us a tasting of a delicious dessert wine. The Spanish focus is a great addition to the Richmond food scene and I really can’t recommend the spot highly enough!
One of my favorite restaurants. Be adventuresome and let the owner pick your plates and your wine. You will not go wrong.
We tried this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. The atmosphere is nice, warm and comfortable. The place is small so the tables are very close together, you can follow the conversation at the table next to you as well and at times better than at your own table.
This is a small plates place and they recommend that you order 6 to 8 plates for two people. We ordered 7 plates of food and some were really good, some were mediocre and one was just plain bad.
One section of their menu is tinned seafood, yes, sardines, clams and the like from cans. We tired one of these dishes on the recommendation of the waitress. I love sardines and buy them regularly at the grocery store, usually at less than two dollars a can. At Adarra I think we paid about $12 for a can. They took them out of the can and placed them on a plate, gave us a few pieces of bread to eat with them, gave us a plate with about a teaspoon of mustard, a tablespoon of butter and a half a teaspoon of sea salt. They were no better, and compared to some, not as good as the ones that I buy from the grocery store but were way more expensive. The one thing that I enjoyed about them was when I eat them at home my wife goes on and on about how they stink and are disgusting. Because Adarra is a fancy restaurant, she actually ate them. Seeing that was almost worth the extra $10. Of the dishes we ordered, a couple were real stand outs, the smoked muscles and the smoked beats were truly amazing. The cheese plate was a disappointment and was mediocre at best $17, the lamb belly with white beans was probably a step above mediocre but not a big step. the Pinxtos Gildas (pickled peppers, anchovies and olives in olive oil served with a side shot of sherry) was pretty good but nothing to write home about, and again it bothered me that I was paying $9 for literally two bites of food that was taken straight out of a can and put on a wooden skewer and put on a plate. The Gnocchi $16 was inedible.
Unique menu and specials, everything was delicious. Service was personal and professional. It was a great dining experience.
Adarra is always a lovely, delicious experience. If you're into tasty seafood-forward small plates and an expertly crafted wine list- this place is for you!
Fantastic dinner! The food was amazing and the ambiance was great. Highly recommend.
The food was absolutely spectacular, the service terrific, and just an overall lovely experience. We will be back!
I finally had the opportunity to dine at Adarra after having it recommended to me by several people. It did not disappoint. Often with tapas you end up with a not-always-harmonious collection of dishes. We ordered a lamb paella special entree to share 4 ways and followed the suggestion to order fewer small plates. We ordered 3 other dishes (gnocchi, beets, and tuna conserva). The sauces from all of them were plate-licking good, but fortunately they supplied grilled bread to sop them up with. But what struck me was every dish complemented each other. There were no jarring flavors on the plate even with all 4 dishes combined. That speaks of a chef who has carefully considered and controlled the flavors so that our meal ate like a composed progressive menu rather than a random assortment of plates. That is impressive to me.
The only downside was service-related. My husband and I arrived early to sample some cocktails before our friends arrived. There were two seats open at the bar but spaced apart. Instead of asking one of the solo drinkers to kindly move over one seat, the hostess made us stand and wait 20 minutes. That seemed silly to me. If I were at the bar I would gladly move a seat over to allow a couple to sit. Then service was slow at the table -- drink orders were twice forgotten. Forgiven
Cocktails were crafty. The wine recommendation was spot on. The cidre was authentically Basque and presented in the traditional decanter and poured high to create aeration. Reminded us of our trip to San Sebastion. But honestly, it was better than any meal we had in Spain. High compliment.
All in all though, what I appreciated was that you didn't feel rushed. I can't remember a dinner in awhile where we lingered just to enjoy the atmosphere. And the desserts? Fantastic. Spanish cheesecake and panna cotta. We expected to like the cheesecake more but the panna cotta (dairy-free) was special. 5 stars easy but for the bar wait and slow drink service. Foodie haven.
This was the only restaurant we ate at on our visit to Richmond. :)
