Contemporary European
The soul of Adarra is rustic elegance and hearthside hospitality. Our menu follows the seasons and the fortunes of farmers in Virginia—simple ingredients cooked over wood whenever possible, served in the cozy atmosphere of a European villa tavern where wine flows like laughter and cocktails warm the spirit. Like our namesake mountain overlooking San Sebastian, Adarra stands as a beacon for people with a zeal for eating and drinking.

Loved this place. My husband and I ate dinner at Adarra on a Saturday night with reservations. We were seated right away in the back of the restaurant. We started with a glass of Proseco and a cocktail. Both were delivered to our table quickly and were very good. From the menu throughout the night we ordered small plates of cheese, ham, chorizo, mushroom gnocchi, asparagus and skate. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. The restaurant decor is really beautiful. The bar was very lively with a mixed crowd represented by all age groups. Overall a great experience and we will definitely return.

Truly exceptional restaurant. My husband and I really wanted a dinner where we could sit, chat, and take our time. The concept of Adarra reminded us of a tapas restaurant we loved when we first started dating, so it was a natural pick.

First off, the wine list is outstanding. Very unique and reasonably priced.
The food menu is different from anything being offered in Richmond. Its authentic Mediterranean. We ordered in phases, in order to feel relaxed and leisurely, and everything came out promptly after ordering. The flavors were all excellent and well balanced. We started with the roasted olives, venison tartare, and marinated sardines. I was nervous the venison might be overly gamey for tartare, but it was fantastic. The sardines were lovely and bright and acidic, maybe my favorite thing of the night. Stuffed octopus was warm and comforting, the rabbit stew was earthy and delicious. Each dish had its own great play of flavors.

Our serve Rob was incredibly hospitable and welcoming. We also met the owner Lyne, who was warm, obviously passionate about the experience her restaurant provides, and very informative. We learned that some of their produce is actually grown by the owner/chef's parents on their farm outside of Richmond. The ambiance and atmosphere were perfect for a romantic evening or an intimate dinner with friends. We felt very welcomed and it was a nice relaxing break from every day life. We will definitely be going back!

This is an amazing restaurant that is just what the Richmond food scene needed. Expressive food matched only by a super wine list. The owners have gone out of their way to make for a first class experience at an affordable price point. Jackson Ward has it’s newest crown jewel! Can’t wait to go back!

This place is fabulous! To begin with, the cocktail menu was fun, and we enjoyed a very tasty drink before dinner. There are so many small plates, and we ordered several before our entree arrived. The fish stew was incredible - spicy enough for those who really love heat, but mild enough for those who like to actually taste their food (like me). Love this place so much. We will be back!!!!!

Sublime. There were tables available, but my wife and I chose a corner of the bar. It’s a freat vantage point for taking in Adarra’s artwork, vibe, hospitality, and flow.

Chef Randall’s small plates are full-flavored, generous, and nourishing. Sommelier Lyne’s pairings were spot-on and we loved the list’s countless surprises and focus on small producers.

Adarra is the kind of place you can visit 2-3x / week and not get bored of the menu or ambiance.

Overall, a unique and sexy addition to Richmond’s dining scene.

We LOVED Adarra and want to come back ASAP to try everything else we didnt get. The skate wing was amazing (we actually got two orders) and the braised rabbit was SO tender and delicious! We also had a great dealer's choice cocktail made by Paul and then some fantastic wine recommended by the lovely owner. Ambiance was beautifully lit by candles, warm and cozy. This is FINALLY something different in the Richmond restaurant scene! We will be back soon for sure!

An attractive casual atmosphere a little off the beaten path. Service was knowledgeable and attentive. The small plates were delicious and well presented. Memorable were the Spanish ham and the skate fish. The desert pannacotta with blood orange was also delicious. An experience worth repeating.

Adarra is a welcome addition to the Richmond culinary scene. My wife and I enjoyed Chef Randall Doetzer's food at Nota Bene, and were very excited to read that he and his wife were opening their own restaurant in the former Rogue space. The menu is exactly what we were looking for in a night out: small plates, inspired flavors and textures (cold mussels with smoky, spicy pimenton, skate wing (!) with brown butter and green onion), and an attentive but not overbearing service experience. We will be returning to Adarra with friends in tow. Perhaps they will agree to have Charlie, our bartender, order for them too. They won't be disappointed.

Amazing flavors, great experience. All the teens (and 1 driving mom) loved the crafted mocktails tailored to their descriptors. Place starts out quiet but can see it getting lively as it fills up.

Food and service was both outstanding. My dining partner and I shared 6 small plates. I haven't eaten in many other restaurants that put the same high level of qualify both product and the culinary skills into each plate. The bar menu was great as was the "Moctail" options when whereas you could pick from an array of taste profile options to have a custom non-alcoholic drink available for us non drinkers.
The only dining issue we had was that there were only a couple of vegatable small plates. I'm hopeful that is simply due to the seasonal nature of the menu. I'm looking forward to returning in the next month or two as some more produce options become available.
The one knock on it was the noise level from the bar area. It seemed that just a few overserved people can increase the noise level to extremely high levels. There were times that a conversation at the table was impossible.
Overall a great experience and I definitely look forward to many more visits.

Interesting menu with great variety in tastes. Our group shared 5 small plates - skate, tuna, mussels, squid and shrimp - we love seafood - and enjoyed each unique dish. Rounded out with some cocktails and desert. Bill quite reasonable for our volume. Wonderful new addition to our restaurant scene!

Blown away by the quality of the dishes. Our server, Lyne, was very personable and gave us a great recommendation for our wine as well as food. The octopus stew was phenomenal and perfect for the dreary, rainy night. The venison tartare was also spectacular, coated with mushrooms that took me back to the salad from Nota Bene that I enjoyed so much a year ago. Despite the majority of the menu being denoted as small dishes, the portions were quite a bit larger than I expected, but not overly so. I definitely didn’t anticipate such a stellar experience considering it was their second week.

Will definitely be returning as soon as possible!

A welcome addition to the RVA dining scene. The small plates we ordered ( not so small BTW) were filled with savory delights, beautifully presented and muy delicioso. Excellent wine list and cleverly crafted cocktails plus attentive service and a warm welcoming ambience. We truly had a leisurely and enjoyable evening and can't wait to return and try out some of the other menu items.

Dealers Choice cocktails were really good and what a great idea (the bartender creates a drink for you based on your choice of a couple descriptive words from the menu). Loved some of the food options more than others. The octopus stew was fantastic.

I loved the atmosphere here! I am very detail oriented and loved the decor, the staff and especially the cuisine. I had the stuffed squid and a glass of Merlot with citrus overtones. It was very pleasing to my palate! My husband had the leg of rabbit and we both ate every single bite. I will definitely visit again! If you are looking for something to energize those tastebuds...you absolutely must dine here!

Was a great place to celebrate a special occasion recently, which also happened to be the restaurants opening night. It was a delicious and very enjoyable experience resulting from a unique and well thought-out food and drink menu. Best way to enjoy a variety of the diverse menu items is by ordering multiple to share at the table as they range from small to medium in size. For example, as a party of two we ordered four dishes and a dessert which turned out to be the perfect amount. The well executed decor creates a distinctive and cool ambiance/atmosphere. A great place for a date and an excellent addition to RVA with its high quality unique dishes and craft cocktails. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout out our entire meal.
