Restaurant 1818 at Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens
Guests have complete dining freedom when they reserve a table at Restaurant 1818. Here guests can select menu items on an a la carte basis from the gourmet appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, and desserts offered that evening. A full wine list and wine by the glass program is available to ensure your dining experience is the very best Natchez has to offer!
Private dining by candlelight is also offered for 8 to 12 people at the main dining room table. This room exemplifies the elegant dining experience which has been customary since the days of John and Eliza Quitman.
The food was ok. The service was not friendly and very unorganized.
Great food in antebellum atmosphere with excellent service as well
Incredibly beautiful setting located inside this antebellum home. Roosevelt served us delicious mint juleps in the bar before dinner. Wonderful food and service from Shirley. Great steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Reasonably priced wines and wonderful atmosphere. Woukd definitely return.
The service was great and our food was delicious, cooked to perfection. The ambiance was great as well.
Bathroom was very dirty which always raises a flag with me. Food was mediocre at best. Wine was poured into a very dusty glass which I have no idea how long it had been sitting on the table. I did not drink it. There was only one server for a large room. Steaks were totally over done and the waitress never came by to check. (The mashed potatoes were delicious!). The lollipop lamb chops were nothing but fat and poorly cooked and presented. All in all, it was a terrible experience. I cannot understand how our B&B owner recommended it. Never again..... They did comp us for the steak, but at that point, I didn’t much care. We left very hungry.....I do not recommend at all.
Great place in 200 year old house. Our server George was fantastic. Food was creative and delicious. Prices were very reasonable for a very nice place. Highly recommend.
appetizers were great as was the service.. The Redfish was not very good. great Atmosphere
One of our all time best dining experiences. Food, service, location, all great!
We dined at 1818 For a special occasion. First we had drinks in the study and then proceeded to the dining room. The location is a lovely setting for and intimate dinner. George, our server, gave us the exact right amount of attention: everything on time, but no hovering. We loved the food. I’d call it southern fancy. We felt the wine list was good and prices reasonable.
We stayed at the inn and dined here for our anniversary. It was a beautiful place and the service was great just busy. The food was just average. My husband had the steak and it was a little over cooked. You are not paying $$$ for the food in this situation it is all about the experience and setting.
Wonderful food! Absolutely incredible service!! Loved Gabriel-the best!! Beautiful setting in the home, 5 star all the way!!
We stayed at this fantastic plantation and had a fabulous dinner at their dining room. Food and service were perfect. We had gumbo and fried green tomatoes. Both were perfect. My husband said his steak was tender and flavorful. My sea bass was perfect in a light lemon butter sauce.
Husband's 60th birthday--the staff treated us like royalty! Prompt and professional service in a charming atmosphere. Great for any occasion but perfect for special events
Sehr schönes Ambiente in einer Ante Bellum Villa. Leider war der Kellner etwas mürrisch. Aber ansonsten sehr schön!
Good food good staff, started off with friend green tomatoes, wife ordered the filet and I had the redfish. Ambiance is awesome.. so much history all around. Only thing sucked was the lady 2 tables down that chapping her mouth each time she took a bite or drink.. great backyard
The atmosphere is always pleasant at Restaurant 1818. My wife and I occasioned to celebrate Valentine's weekend. Our food was excellent regarding taste, portions and for the most part, price. We understand regarding price, it must be taken into consideration this is an upscale restaurant. This is our favorite place in Natchez to dine for special occasions.
We were throughly impressed. Our waiter Gabriel was outstanding. We are planning on going back again soon. Thanks for the experience
Dinner from start to finish was amazing!! Service was great, the piano playing was a nice touch, and the food was excellent. You will not be disappointed!
Fabulous food and service!
Loved Cortez! He was very cute, charming, funny and attentive. The food was excellent and who ever did the interior design was spot on. Like a Ralph Lauren plantation. The only place for improvement would be to get the drinks to the table faster. I think they have to go downstairs to get the cocktails. Not a big delay, but they could have made more money on us if cocktail service had been faster. Overall, we had a 5 star experience.
We went to celebrate our anniversary. It is pricey but we were expecting that. The food was delicious, the atmosphere wonderful and our server, George, was amazing. I would definitely go again.
The food was delicious and the waiter was very attentive to our meal and hospitable. It was our anniversary and this was a very romantic and enjoyable dinner.
very elegant and historic surroundings, complement the excellent food and service. would recommend for a nice special night out
Another outstanding meal to close out an outstanding stay at Monmouth. Our waiter, Mr. George, could not have been more professional and yet personable. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and valued. The food was delicious, served in a very timely manner, and in portions generous enough to ensure all went away full. Overall just a great experience which resonated perfectly with our entire stay at Monmouth. We'll be back for sure.
Celebrated 31st anniversary at 1818 Restaurant. The service was great and the food was wonderful, we enjoyed everything about this place. The bread pudding is some of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.
We were SO pleasantly surprised by Restaurant 1818! It was truly one of the best dining experiences we've had in a while and we eat out a LOT!! The food was perfectly prepared and delicious ~ BEST lamb chops ever! I also want to give special kudos to Miss Shirley! What a wonder!! Initially, we were a tiny bit put off because she insisted that we place our entire order at once. We typically do NOT do this because restaurants never seem to get the timing right (usually putting my entree on the table when I'm still eating my appetizer and I HATE that!!). Can I tell you, I've never had a meal so wonderfully delivered! We also started noticing that Shirley does EVERYTHING ~ from the taking of orders to bussing the tables and changing linens between guests and did it all with a genuine smile! We just loved her! Thank you Shirley and kitchen staff for making this a very special evening!
Shirley our waitress was magnificent!!
It is an elegant place for a good quiet dinner celebration (birthday in our case). The food was delicious and the cocktails were generous.
We had a delightful meal after the Real Men Wear Pink benefit. The service was superb, our salads and duck entrée were very tasty and perfectly prepared. The Monmouth is a beautiful setting for a romantic and well prepared meal.
We loved the food, service, and music. My wife and I needed a date night and this was perfect for our date night. Looking forward to going back soon.
A wonderful romantic restaurant. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. You were treated like royalty. I highly recommend this beautiful historical restaurant.
It was a special anniversary and I had emailed ahead. It seemed, despite my reservation online they had no record of the booking. We were sat in the corner of an almost empty restaurant- not a great position. So initial impression was disappointing. However, the food and service was exceptional, and rescued what was a poor start. That said, I had requested a special event to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, but that request did not get through, and thus it was a really good meal but not truly special.
Beautiful restaurant and inn. The food is mediocre and the service is fair. Will return to the inn but will dine elsewhere.
Food was great. Service was great. I had a drink from the bar not prepared correctly. Other than that. Excellent meal.
Wonderful setting, gracious service, delicious food....lacking for nothing
Historic feel to room but at risk of looking tired soon. Food was very good. Service was prompt.
A wonderful experience. Great food and the service was outstanding. A perfect place for our anniversary celebration!
The service and food were both fantastic. My only complaint was that the portions were extremely small for the price paid.
Outstanding food, service and ambiance. Our attendant, Shirley, was really nice, attentive, very efficient and kind. Wonderfully nice lady.
We had fried green tomatoes, Caesar salad, great biscuits, open fire grilled salmon and chocolate decadence . Superb.
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Very delightful evening. This was the highlight of out trip to Natchez. Will definitely choose this as a dining option when back in Natchez.
