Restaurant 1818 at Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens
Guests have complete dining freedom when they reserve a table at Restaurant 1818. Here guests can select menu items on an a la carte basis from the gourmet appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, and desserts offered that evening. A full wine list and wine by the glass program is available to ensure your dining experience is the very best Natchez has to offer!
Private dining by candlelight is also offered for 8 to 12 people at the main dining room table. This room exemplifies the elegant dining experience which has been customary since the days of John and Eliza Quitman.
We really enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere. Beautiful antebellum home. The atmosphere was nice as well. Gabriel was a good waiter and the food was well prepared. Well decorated with paintings from the era and the floral arrangements were nice as well.
I would recommend it.
We had an 8:30 reservation here for NYE. They sat us around 9:30 and we got our food at 10:30 at night after being told they didn’t have a table for us. I had to go get the hostess to bring us water. There was not one decoration or recognization that is was NYE. They were completely under staffed. Thankfully the staff was friendly. I would not recommend this place for a date night, especially a holiday.
Good food, great location. The 2 rooms of the restaurant are part of the historic mansion of Monmouth.
Great lambchop appetizer could be a meal. Steaks were perfect. Wine list was light but enough to get a nice bottle.
My steak was delicious. My husband’s fish was a little dry. I would suggest adding a moscato to the wine list. Wine choices are on the dry side. Overall it was a nice experience. A little pricey but nice.
Went for Christmas Day dinner. Food was delicious. I would definitely go back.
If you are looking for a quiet, romantic, candle lite dinner for two, this is the place.
Anniversary and birthday
This is one of the best restaurants in Natchez! We have been coming to Natchez for many years and have tried many restaurants and none have compared to our experience here! We will definitely be back.
Shirley made it special for us!!
My friend and I had a wonderful experience at 1818. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. The food was great, the portions a little small and our steak a little over cooked but overall all very worth it!
We enjoyed a fabulous meal at the 1818 restaurant and highly recommend it for dinner...superb service...extraordinary chef...Steaks to die for and incredible appetizers....
Beautiful setting and delicious dinner. Would highly recommend.
Great service and atmosphere
We thoroughly enjoyed our romantic evening. The quality of meal was exceptional!
Great food n service
Felt like Brett Butler
Family dinner! Our waitress, Shirley was incredible!!!
We were so pleased with our dining experience. It was a wonderful and intimate setting. We shared the dining room with 4 other couples, who were mostly very pleasant and engaging. Our server, Shirley, was very attentive and full of personality. Our food was excellent. We had the filet and the chicken. Each was cooked to,perfection. Our salads were excellent as well. We chose the decadent chocolate dessert. Scrumptious!!! We were very surprised at how reasonable our dining experience was. Our only complaint would be the complaining lady at an adjacent table. One of those folks who complains about everything., rather loudly. Don’t miss out on this experience if you are in Natchez. Reservations are recommended.
The setting is excellent, the history is a wonderful part of the experience. The food was excellent and fairly priced.
The service was gracious, attentive but not hovering.
A great evening all around!
I had a pleasant dinner with a couple friends. The menu was limited but the choices were excellent. The ambiance of this historic landmark was great. All of the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I would definitely go back.
Dinner was excellent. Service was great. Would highly recommend this restaurant to others
My friend and I took a trip this past weekend to Natchez...our dinner at 1818 Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens was the BEST! Beautiful meal and lovely surroundings...
Easy to find
Historic house with elegant decor
Great server - Shirley!
Good variety of dishes, including daily special
Well cooked and well presented food
Excellent wine list
Sophisticated but not stuffy ambiance
The visit to Monmouth was wonderful. The house and 1818 Restaurant was a wonderful experience. The other guests were very nice and we had some enjoyable conversation. The Ceasar salad I had was the best one I have ever had, I did think the charges were a little high but I thought overall it was a wonderful experience.
A most enjoyable evening in quirky surroundings. Very attentive service. Just the right level of formality.
Dinner was lovely. Steaks were prepared perfectly. Our server, Shirley, was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Would definitely recommended for a special evening
Great place - wonderfully historic venue. The service was a bit sloppy though, with wrong food being brought to the table, food and drink dropped on the table and other table's dirty dishes even brought to our table. Still worth going though.
Our dining experience was wonderful. Our server George was excellent, very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He’s worked there for 27 years! The food was excellent as well. I had the special, pan seared red snapper with a lemon bearer blanc sauce, exceptional! Beautiful setting and atmosphere. Love 1818.
Enjoyed a delicious dinner in beautiful surroundings with gracious service. Only suggestion would be to add Roosevelt’s mint julip to the dessert menu. We had to go to the bar to get it. But then if we’d been able to order it from the dessert menu, we would have missed Roosevelt.
A beautiful and delicious meal in a historic Natchez mansion. Service was excellent. We had the steak and the chicken. Both were perfectly cooked. The steak was tender and flavorful, and the chicken with roasted vegetables was wonderful. Will definitely return!
We came to Natchez for the fall pilgrimage on our sisters trip. We found the restaurant at Monmouth and ate there 3 of the 4 nights we were there. The ambience was perfect, the food was excellent, and Roosevelt, the bartender, was the best ever!! Can’t wait to return!!
Very nice building, authentic and stylish.
Food is ok, service is average mainly due to fact the one person serving many all the guests.
Overall ok but not exceptional.
Excellent meal in a quiet and beautiful setting. Fish entrees were delicious, and the filet was perfectly seasoned and cooked with a superb Demi-glacé. We only sampled one dessert, bread pudding, but it was delicious as well.
Location, grounds, and house are a must see in Natchez. Service and atmosphere of restaurant is excellent, however food wasn’t as good as I would have expected. Fish of the day was Snapper which was tough, chewy and very “ fishy tasting” green fried tomatoes were ok but not up too expectations.
Lovely meal in beautiful surroundings
A dinner date to remember for sure. It was very quiet and romantic. There were not many tables, and it was in a historic home. Each course was amazing- appetizer, entree, and dessert. We will definitely be returning.
A beautiful and delicious experience.
Such a cool historic restaurant. Food and service has always been excellent! A perfect place for a glass of wine, quiet conversation while being in a very relaxed atmosphere! A must if you ever get down to Natchez for a visit!
Delicious food! Great service!
Old World Ambience!!
Great food and our waiter Gabriel was awesome and very attentive.
