Re:public Ratings and Reviews
I would be much more enthusiastic were it not for the service which started off too slowly and remained aloof throughout . I'm one for sipping on my mimosa and coffee as I review the menu, but we weren't afforded that option here.If there's one rule for brunch service it's:get the drinks going stat and keep em coming. It took a long minutes before we were even asked what we wanted to drink and then we were never offered another round when the time came. The server was polite enough, just lackadaisical . Aside form that, the food was tasty and the atmosphere comfortable and easy to enjoy . Despite service quip here,(maybe just bad day?) I'd recommend trying it out next time you're thrift or Tesla shopping in SLU.
Went here on the recommendation of a tour guide. The food was good and the drinks were great. Where it lost points was the extremely loud atmosphere and slow service (they were only about 1/2 full). Price points were alright, I bet it would be a great happy hour stop.
I met a friend for dinner. We started out in the bar area with an appetizer (seared ahi tuna) and cocktails. There only appeared to be 1 bartender servicing several tables. Service was very poor, I would go so far as to say that the bartender's attitude was on the unfriendly side. We moved over to a table for dinner where we had a reservation. Our waiter was friendly but again, it seemed like the restaurant was short-staffed because she only checked in on us twice (over a period of an hour and a half) and we had to flag her down to get drink refills. I ordered the New York steak and my friend ordered the fish. She said her fish was cold and mine was only warm. The food tasted okay. Based on this experience, I won't go back to eat dinner but I would go back to try a whiskey drink as they have a very large menu to choose from.
My friends and I love re:public as a Brunch spot. I've never been for any other occasion, but as for Brunch: it is bomb! What is really great is that they are never over-crowded and the food is excellent. The staff isn't over attentive, which I actually appreciate because I'm the type of person who will ask for something if I need it. Overall I would highly recommend re:public! :)
I had to plan a quick business lunch for 14 people, some from out-of-town, and all arriving *somewhere* close to the requested time.
The staff at re:public could not have been more accommodating and helpful, ensuring that we all sat together, handling our late arrivals one-by-one, keeping our water and drinks filled, and making sure our food was served on time, hot, and to all the appropriate people. (And the food is great, too! It's why I picked this place after having lunched there before with just a few people many times.)
I'm really, really pleased with them.
I am in love!! I will definitely be going back to Re:Public. We got the appetizer sampler. I don't remember the exact name of each thing on the plate but it was seared ahi tuna, pineapple filet, and prawns. Everything on that plate was amazing and just melted in my mouth. The beef was tender like butter, the tuna had an amazing horseradish sauce to go with it, and the seaweed salad was perfectly made. The presentation just set everything over the top. We ordered four different entrees and all of us ate every bite. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone! It looks like you may need reservations on the weekend (we had one) since most tables had "Reserved" signs on them when we came in.
I had been here before for dinner so wanted to try out lunch, salad was overdressed and overpriced for baby greens you can get at any grocery store with a few small additions...that didn't work for me. Turkey sandwich sounded great but was very low on taste and turkey and big on bread.
I had walked by the place many times and thought I should give it a try because it looks interesting from the street.
Saturday was that day.
Were we ever disappointed! Re:public is a sports bar that serves decent food, but it is NOT a restaurant.
The noise was unbelievable! Service was mediocre at best. Ambience - well, if you were looking for a sports bar I assume it would be ok.
Needless to say, we will never be back and will go instead to one of the numerous restaurants in the area. I wish we had gone to Serious Pie, an upscale pizza joint in the same block.
The service was great. Charcuterie plate was subpar, like it was out of plastic packet. My wild mushroom risotto was pasty, and the pomegranate drizzle totally did not go with the mushroom. The risotto tasted better on it's own without the pomegranate. My friend said the wild boar bolognase was good. Wine list excellent, and they rock because they had the best IPA on tap- Space Dust. The butterscotch dessert was really sugary, overwhelming the flavor of the butterscotch. Nice location and ambiance, and booths and lighting were good.
Cool place and good food, but they were clearly understaffed on a Monday night and so service very slow....over 20 mins from time sat down (and we had res) to drink order. When we finally got food it was well prepared but overall experience suffered from slow service. I'm sure better with proper staffing.
Even though the place was very busy, the hostess found me a spot at the buddy table - she and I chatted while she was looking for a place to put me since I was a bit early.
Reuben and the other bartender took care of me, even offering a glass of wine when my order was delayed.
I ordered the sourdough bread and the roasted garlic for a starter and the risotto for an entree. The bread was very good, but I wished it was warmed just a little. The risotto was very good - a nice contrast with the creamy risotto and marscarpone and the twang of the pomegranate sherry. I really enjoyed my experience.
