Rendez Vous Cafe Bistro
As always the food and service were outstanding. We've eaten here for years and will continue to do so.
Simple and classic bistro food
Looks can be deceiving since the ambiance is very casual but the food is spectacular. Service is adequate but a bit slow but not enough that we won't consider returning for the great food.
My wife and I can heartily recommend Rendez Vous Cafe Bistro to anyone. We have had dinners with friends many times and we were delighted to enjoy brunch at our last two visits. The food is always excellent and we always enjoy the ambiance of the place. The Chef and staff are great! We thank you for being part of the Solano Avenue environment.
Salad had so much garlic it made my mouth burn. Bread was not fresh and butter tasted like it had spent too much time in the refrigerator. Wine was served warm. The daube was okay. Chicken cordon bleu was tasty except that it was burned on the bottom. Won’t be going back. Too many other good neighborhood restaurants in this area. Really a shame... just misses all around.
Met with a friend for lunch. Menu more than adequate with some nice touches. Beef dishes were tasty and the price was reasonable. Our server was excellent.
Our experience was mostly positive. The food was quite good yet simple. We made a reservation not knowing it would be slow given the early booking. The only minus would be it took many minutes to a server's attention despite there were only 4 tables occupied.
Great food and a great time !
Not appreciate having to say more than I already have said.
Great food and a great time
Small cafe tables packed in close to another pair of diners actually turned into a nice dinner conversation. Braised beef and fish meunière were tasty choices. Desserts looked yummy and typically French. Recommend for a couple who like French food without the elegance.
Good food, good and friendly service and for a reasonable price. What more could one want?
I enjoyed the atmosphere but didn’t think the food was that good.
Superb customer service. Nice relaxing pace to enjoy dinner, good food and good company.
Great food at a very modest price! The service was spotty - one dish we ordered never came, but we weren’t charged for it either. It was very busy, so the wait staff wasn’t able to check on us very much. They were cheerful and tried their best. I’d love to see an update inside to make it feel a bit more cozy. High ceiling,
and garish paint on the big wall were distracting.
Very average experience.
Delicious food and pleasant ambience and helpful staff; would go again.
We'd eaten at Rendez Vous for brunch and enjoyed it. But dinner was a different story. Service was very slow (seemed to be understaffed) and the food was poor. Al four of us thought our entrees were barely edible. Maybe Sunday night is unlucky.
Such great food and service!
Such a delightful place! Great French classics and friendly service. Lauren is a gentleman and all-around charming host, chef, waiter, sommelier, whatever is needed. Eat there often!
Very good service. I made some changes in my meal and it was done properly. All 5 of us were happy with our meals. The waiter was friendly and efficient. We all were very pleased eating in this restaurant.
We will come back when we are in the area. We are on vacation.
A wonderful neighborhood bistro, always a great meal with a friendly staff.
What a great place!!!
A repeat of our last visit, except on a quiet night. Saturday is pretty noisy. The Quiche Lorraine was wonderful again, and the French Muscadet perfect with it. quick, friendly and attentive service.
Our favorite Bay Area restaurant.
After a very warm greeting from owner, Lauren, my husband and I enjoyed a delicious, affordable dinner with wine. I have never had a bad meal here, and often consider it my favorite restaurant in the Bay Area because it is always a charming and satisfying visit. Try everything from the moules et frites to the rack of lamb to the daub, omelette and salads.
Great value, fine staff, and altogether enjoyable. Highly recommend.
A true bistro with tasty onion soup, coq au vin, croque monsieur and a small but great wine list. In addition, a terrific trio plays music of the 30s, 40s and 50s every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30PM.
Really good eggs benedict florentine and appreciated being able to reserve a table for brunch. But the frequent CRASHING of dishes in the kitchen definitely damaged the ambiance! An irate dishwasher?
Perfect food, served perfectly ... our neighborhood bistro.
This is one of our "go to" restaurants. Hard to beat for excellent french bistro food, in a pleasant, casual setting, at reasonable prices.
We both had the Quiche Loraine for the first time, and it was excellent.
We usually go on a quiet night, but this time made reservations for Friday, peak hour. Our table was ready, with reserved sign on it, when we arrived.
Service was a little slower than at our usual times, and it was louder, as the place was packed. But neither was enough to spoil our lovely dinner.
By the time we were finished, it was slower. When we asked about the glass of wine we'd shared, they brought out the bottle, so we could take a pic of the label - and gave us some more. That's the kind of attentive service we love there.
Good as usual!
When are the escargots coming? We are waiting for a few years now!
Excellent service and excellent music on Tuesdays.
Thank you!
Great place. Tuesday has a live band that starts around 7. Make reservations
I appreciate the restaurant's trying to keep prices low in an expensive environment, and from many positive comments this seems to please a lot of diners. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I cannot recommend Rendezvous Bistro to fans of authentic French food; simply too many compromises with quality. Mussels were not pristine, lamb was lacking the "snap" of good quality and was both mushy and lacking in flavor, the daube was dry and lacking in expected succulence.
It took 1.5 hours for dinner. Service was slow at all stages. Rack of lamb was excellent but mussels had been previously frozen. Other meals were described as OK. Prices very reasonable
As always, a fantastic meal, I am partial to the rack of lamb!!!
I love Rendezvous and chose to come here with friends for my birthday. The food is delicious and I love the menu selections. I can always count on the food being high quality and tasty. I am something of a Francophile and this place satisfies my need for an occasional fix of French food. Great spot!
Comfortable neighborhood bistro with friendly, efficient service and delicious menu choices at reasonable prices. I love Rendezvous Cafe!
My family comes here about once a month. Every meal we have is excellent and we have tried numerous menu items. We especially like the salmon, the rendezvous burger, and steak
The food at rendezvous is always fabulous and the owner is always cheerful and a joy to see, he makes the dining experience even better!
I love the restaurant, food, ambience, the lovely French owner.
I love French food . I think the dinner menu might be more suited to my taste. The French onion soup was delicious. The prawn salad came out before we were finished with the soup. The salad had no dressing . We asked for more dressing which was provided. It then confirmed it literally had none before. With the dressing added you could taste the blue cheese. My friends salad was missing the avocado whereas mine had little flecks. The server brought some avocado . The crepe was delicious. I probably won’t go back mainly because it is 45 minutes from my house . I think with some attention to details it could be a really good restaurant.
