Rendez Vous Cafe Bistro
Reliable menu with good Daub stew.
Update on the menu would be nice.
Wish they had escargot!
Loved our dinner at Rendez-Vous Bistro as always. Only disappointment was the ratatouille served with the lamb chops. I prefer it when the vegetables are cut much smaller, and served hot or even better, cold. But the lamb was excellent and my husband's steak frites was excellent as well. Love the owner and staff - and it's particularly wonderful to eat here and slip next door for a movie!
Delightful ambience, good food, friendly and capable service
This is a cheap restaurant, the food is awful.
We live close by to Rendez Vous and took way too long to add it to our regular choices. Absolutely consistent tasty French food. Because we have favorites we don't always stray from those, but when we do (Daube) we are delighted.
Nice little french bistro, particularly convenient if you are going to the Albany Twin to see a movie. Makes a great date night!
Rendezvous is an excellent French-style bistro. Both food and service are excellent, and occur in a comfortable, friendly environment.
Nice neighborhood French restaurant I enjoy. Though we moved away, we still come back to Rendez-vous when we are in the area.
Convenient neighborhood spot. Typical bistro menu. Salad was pleasant, as was the vegetarian soup, but not stellar. Coq au Vin and lamb stew were tasty, not remarkable. Serviceable wine list. Overall, not great, but useful for dinner by the movie theater.
Utsab took care of us like a real pro. The ratatouille and daube are just a few of the great traditional French country meals available on the menu we tasted. Delicious! We'll be back. -sT
We always love it--a nice feel as a neighborhood spot with very mixed clientele.
We love the atmosphere, good food, charming owner Laurent and friendly staff. Very conveniently located on Solano Ave next to the Albany Twin movie theater.
Check it out. You’ll be glad you did.

Superb French food. Excellent recipes, very well prepared and presented. And moderately priced, particularly given the high, high quality and freshness of the dishes. Highly recommended.
Place was close to empty and still had to ask waitress to take our order, then again for a desert menu. They did not have their “signature beef dish” and mussels I ordered were very bland and over cooked.
It was the MLK holiday Monday lunch and they were slammed...lovely menu but service was poor and food mediocre.
We always enjoy our meals. Last night had rack of lamb excellent and Coq au vin which was also excellent.
As always great food and service. Our forth time here in half a year. Some of our favorites are seafood vol au vent and poulet au riesling. During our last visit I clumsily broke a wine glass and the owner was very gracious and more worried about our safety than the loss.
I have always enjoyed this place but the food was off at our last visit. The lamb stew meat was dry and the steak lacked its usual flavor. I was disappointed in what has been a local favorite.
As usual, excellent food and great service. Laurent runs a happy ship; some of his waitstaff has been with it for 5 years or more l got a great rack of lamb.
The service was horrible. The food was tepid. They were not ready to serve anyone and we waited for some bread which was served cold. It would have been good warmed up.
The creme brulee was good...
Had the food been served hot instead of warm it would have been better.
Just did NOT like the service at all there was little service actually, I had to call them over to get a knife.
Great for a dinner with friends. We had a good table where everyone at the table could participate in conversation. The food was very goo as usual. The Salmon Normandie is especially nice and served with perfect green beans and rice. The shrimp risotto was good as well. I've also had the rack of lamb which is a real deal. Salad sizes are generous and there is nightly soup. Good varied menu where everyone should be able to find something from salads to sandwiches to quiche to fish, chicken and meat dishes. There are also a number of vegetarian options. Prices are reasonable for this good level of food. During nice weather, they have sidewalk seating outside, as well as a fun interior.
We go there mostly for the mussels but there's a great variety of French cuisine available. We always love it and do drive a bit of a distance to go there.
We got there at noon. We had a reservation and a table was ready. They were crowded. They gave us the dinner menu. We ordered at 12:15. Food arrived at 1:00. Braised beef was very good. My sandwich was good. French fries very good. Outside of slow food it was fine. We will return. Parking was not easy. Street parking.
Service was Excruciatingly slow: 20 minutes after hailing servers three times to give order; one hour to get order of eggs and ham. Owner thoughtfully came over and explained they were overwhelmed and apologized for the slow service. He said it was not their normal level of service.
You can never go wrong if you are looking for a hearty Delicious meal served up by friendly and gracious people. The Bordeaux is very good. I hate to brag too much lest it become too popular to get a seat. It's right next to the Albany Twin and I often grab a bite before a movie. Special date or a bite with a friend or family member this place is always pleasant. And with an advance reservation - they have accommodated my entire family(12).
Tasty as always.
We've never had a bad meal at the Rendez Vous Bistro. The staff are friendly and attentive, even when the restaurant is full.
Concisely, this is a neighborhood restaurant with a true French soul. While the setting and ambiance are casual and unpretentious, the quality of the food is far, far better than I had expected. All the dishes were skillfully prepared and seasoned, with what seemed to me to be an authentic French touch. The menu has a good variety of selections, including excellent Prix Fixe selections that offer great value for money.
Always a pleasure visiting Laurent in the crew here!
My husband and I dined here because of its proximity to the movie theater next door and the menu. We had 45 minutes to dine and dash. Our server was great. She steered us towards dishes that were tasty and timely given our movie start time. We’ll be back when we have more time to try other items on the menu!
My family has a short list of favorite restaurants, and Rendez Vous is our top pick for upscale dining I've never had a bad meal or bad service. The staff and owner are delightful. i usually have the sole and chocolate mousse and. If I can find someone to share, the goat cheese salad. Saturday night's special of Coq au Vin is the best I've ever had, and it's even better with a glass of Cote Dr Rhone..
And, they pour a mean Kir Royale!
Love this place
Rendezvous Café took me right back to the café I love to go to in Paris. Authentic French for sure.
The service was a little slow. It was pretty crowded, but it’s never been an issue for us in the past. Probably a one time staffing issue. Otherwise, the food was still good and we had a nice time.
We go out for a date night at the Rendez-Vous Cafe Bistro before or after a movie several times a year. This cozy place never disappoints and this was again true on our most recent visit. I had the Sole Filets Meuniere and my wife had Steak Frites. Both were delicious as was the Onion Soup Gratinee that we both had. We split the Crepe Tatin for dessert and it was a perfect finish to a great meal. The apples were just the right tartness to match with the sweet ice cream. The service by the owner and waitress was friendly, inviting and attentive.
If you like to dine on good French food at a reasonable price in a comfortable, friendly restaurant, you will like the Rendezvous.
I have been Living in the Berkeley area for 4 years. I found this Gem this year and have been there 8 times in the last 2 months, it's that good!
For Lunch or dinner , our go to place!
Made a reservation and I Took my family of 8 including little kids here for a birthday celebration. It was perfect ! Our Food all came out together and well prepared even though the restaurant was crowded for a Sunday!
We kept adding appetizers post order, which they had no problem delivering !
Their Kir Royal is the best I have ever had.
They have the Same menu all day, which is good because I want to eat everything on the menu! Everything is done to perfection, from the appetizers and salads (nicoise and vegan) the quiche Lorraine in puff pastry is delicious creamy custard with the perfect bit of smokey ham.
The perfectly done tendez vous burger is the best I have had in a long time and i am always game for a great burger! and steak frites done to perfection my husbands fave . The rack of Lamb and classic cassoulet, was perfect also. Not to mention dessert, creme Brulee and chocolate mousse also classic!
It sounds to good to be true ! I truly hope no one believes me cause its going to get too crowded !
Rendez Vous has a Classic french menu .. I have foodie friends who come here for the Moule and frites and french onion soup en croute . I go for a scrumptious quiche lunch, a KEEPER for sure!
Especially a great place to take foodies from NYC!
Wonderful service, very good food and warm ambiance make Rendezvous a favorite!
The food was excellent, as was the service. Recommend any of the omelets.
A cozy restaurant with classic French bistro food. The owner's presence and participation is the real plus.
