Reid's Cafe and Catering
Interesting but limited menu. Food execution was good. Service was acceptable but not excellent.
We made reservations to have a birthday dinner for my husband, while on vacation. We were pleasantly surprised by Reid's! Ordered the shishito peppers it was the BEST! Dinner was pasta special and trout. Everything was so fresh and flavorful! Elegance was there.
Only improvement was that our server wasn't too friendly, and birthday is not acknowledged like other restaurants.
We usually love our meals there as everything is fresh and of excellent quality. This time the pasta was disappointing-very heavy and not as flavorful as their pastas usually are.
It was also very loud in there, surprising for a thursday evening.
We are always pleased with the food! many times we just have soup and salad for lunch and both are always great. The soups are homemade and orginal and the salads are very creative using fresh local items. More recently we have dined in the evening at Reid's and quality continues!
Very few choices on the menu. There was nothing for kids. It was expensive and nothing to brag about. The waitress was snooty and not willing to accommodate small requests.
Food was great...superb even. Very good place for a nice night out.
First time there at night. Everyone thought it was excellent. Will definitely go back again.
Great seasonal/local product, prepared well and in creative combinations. High end preparations but in a relaxed atmosphere- no feeling of forced pretentiousness here. Looking forward to our next meal at Reid’s!
Reid’s is a real jewel. All dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients. The chef is a master at combining flavors and seasonings. I like that I can taste each of the ingredients. They have a lovely selection of wines. All at reasonable prices. You can easily split salads and many of the appetizers. And the desserts. I enjoy sitting outside on a pleasant evening. One of my favorite restaurants.
Always 5 stars at Reid’s.
Food was really delicious and innovative. Had the pork chop with a peach bbq chutney sauce Yum. Will go back.
Thank you for the wonderful review! If you loved our pork chop with the peach barbecue, we can't wait for you to try our pork chop on our new menu starting in a few days!
We had a wonderful time with friends. Our waitress was a bit uptight . Had the pasta but wasn’t fond of the tomato sauce. Had the pasta the week before with pork which we liked much better. Chairs are very uncomfortable.
Everything we had was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend.
Reid’s is a wonderful, comfortable space with inventive food and professional service. It is such a nice change from the usual food one finds in a mountain resort.
Thank you so much for this review! We strive to hit all of these marks and we appreciate reading from you that you enjoyed all aspects. We look forward to seeing you back soon!
Solid choice, we enjoyed our meals and the service!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we can't wait to serve you again!
Fabulous cocktails and delicious food!!
Friendly atmosphere and service. Fabulous farm to table food. Nice wine selection. A favorite dining place for us. I was not sure what the noise rating was asking. I’d say the noise level is medium/high. It’s a challenge for the space. I’d like to have it a bit quieter. Nothing that would keep us from going there often.
The menu at times is alittle hard to work with as was the case this weekend. Because it is so small it doesn’t give much choice. There is no option to add a protein to the vegetable plate or pasta which would be nice.
Fantastic. Our server was very attentive. The peach app was so light and refreshing. Our scallops were spot on. I've never had a better scallop. Chef Sean has now ruined me from ordering them anywhere else. The atmosphere is fresh and inviting. If you are looking for an upscale dining experience in Banner Elk, go to Reid's!
Food was outstanding and service incredible ( Laura G). Highly recommend.
Very inconsistent menu items. Some fresh and lovely others just odd. Some portion are on the small side, soups. Crab salad with rice and corn was not edible, crab too salty and rice/corn too hard to chew. When busy device is poor otherwise service is fine. I think it would help to someone in front of house asking how things are to make service more consistent.
