For the finest in Cumbrian Lake District dining, this beautiful restaurant in Waterwillock comes complete with 22 acres of gardens, a helipad and private access to the shores of Ullswater. In other words, this 200 year old retreat is the James Bond of country house hotels, and therefore a popular choice for weddings and private parties. The acclaimed Regency Restaurant is just another reason why Leeming House is such a desirable destination. The dining room – decorated with plush carpets, garden-fresh roses and theatrical drapes – enjoys panoramic views of the gardens and lake, and the modern British menu includes favourites such as the pan-fried coley with crushed potatoes, and the glazed lemongrass tart.

Both the Duck Two Ways and the Sea Bass were amazing, delicious and presentation was beautiful. Compliments both to the Chef as well as to our fabulous Server, John. The view of the loch was serene and we loved the whole experience. We traveled all over Scotland and England this trip and this was, overall, our best dining experience.

Absolutely recommend Leeming House, for gorgeous grounds and relaxing atmosphere inside the hotel. Food as always is superb and everything is made to high standard.

We booked this table for a special occasion whilst staying at the hotel. Our booking was moved to half an hour earlier by the hotel because there were only 3 tables booked for that night and they wanted to serve us all at the same time. The food was ok but extremely overpriced and if you pay for your dinner, bed & breakfast option when you book your hotel room you then have to pay over priced supplements for items on the menu and also when you have breakfast too. The food for both the dinner and breakfast was overpriced for pretty average food. The service was ok but nothing special and we didn't even get our coffees as we felt the staff were desparate to finish for the night and now in hindsight I'd say that was the reason we were moved to the earlier sitting for dinner. The bar was closed before 10pm which as guests we weren't informed or asked if we would like a nightcap but the three staff we saw on duty were all having a chat in reception. Overall I wouldn't recommend this restaurant or the hotel, there are better hotels and restaurants when it comes to value for money and quality. I hope this helps other customers with their decision in order for them not to make the same mistake as we did.

Beautiful views over the Lake, as it was a lovely day I would have preferred to sit outside (nobody else was dining, the lady serving did give us the option as I asked but she persuaded us that we’d love the indoor option so we felt a bit obliged. Overall it was good, just felt it lacked something. Disappointed that the tea came as a teabag with a pot of hot water, would have expected loose leaf tea at a big hotel.

The quality of the food, the service and ambience were all very good, but what lets the restaurant down are the terribly high prices for the food and wine. I had duck breast as a main course, at £36.00, and whilst it was very well cooked and tasty, I came away hungry afterwards as it was served with a small amount of vegetables and only one potato. No complimentary bread to fill up on, and we decided to skip desert as they were all around the £15.00 mark. I had one 175ml glass of wine at £11.00, which was the cheapest on the menu. Overall, not good value for money.

We were booked for afternoon tea at 1.30 the tea was served 30 mins later the food started to arrive. The service was awful we asked for butter for the scones and after 10 mins we had to look for someone to ask again. It was like a comedy show. It wasn’t busy as there were only tables in. When we asked for the bill they overcharged us afternoon tea was advertised as £30 per person and they charged is £35 we questioned her and she just grunted and processed the refund. The room was tired and the whole hotel could do with being upgraded.

Restaurant is lovely, clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and efficient. Food was outstanding and very enjoyable. Very expensive for what you get especially if you have already payed a lot for your room , will definitely return and recommend

An excellent experience, food was amazing and would sit well in a Michelin star restaurant. Service was impeccable, attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommend if your staying at the hotel or in the area. Perfect for a couple or even a small group.

Dining Room was freezing cold. Felt a bit dated Menu limited but fair. Food good but very small portions and very expensive and over priced Felt like stepping back 40 years in an off season fading hotel Surprised prawn cocktails weren’t on the menu. There was a Malibu desert which made up for it. No butter on flora margarine Good friendly service Hotel felt really tiered and dated In need of serious investment Not good value for money. I’m afraid we will not be going back or recommend if it.
