Bringing some LA vibes to the northeast. REGARDS draws inspiration from the diverse food culture of Los Angeles. We highlight flavor profiles from Japan and Mexico with the freshest of Maine produce and products.

The menu at REGARDS has bright, zippy ceviches and crudos, rich tamales, plump Argentinian shrimp tacos, along with mezcal cured hamachi collars, crab rice and grilled cabbage with caesar.

Clarified lime margaritas with eucalyptus or our gin and sotol martinis with hibiscus pair with our adventurous menu. We pour natural wine and have a large selection of curated mezcals and tequilas.

A place for us and for you. Might not make sense, but it sure is delicious. Across the street from Reny's. Nearby Maine College of Art, Portland Stage Company, State Theatre, Empire Comedy Club and Blue Jazz Club.

    Went in not knowing what to expect with a party of six. Accommodated very nicely in rear, “semi private” table. Recommendations for wine and mix of small plates was excellent. Service very good. Chef and crew just nailed it!! Hadn’t heard of it before last evening. We will be back!

    Scallop ceviche was quite tasty, however the hamachi neck was quite bland, and the octopus, while tender, just tasted like anything else that was charred on a grill.

    Food was good, service was terrible. It was very apparent that kids are not welcome. Not welcoming at all. Didn’t have high chairs.

    I've followed Regards and looked forward to eating there for years. I've learned over time to temper my expectations for highly anticipated dinners and to keep an open mind, especially with small and independent restaurants who are trying to be thoughtful and ambitious. For the first time in a while, I found myself really blown away by the dining experience of this small restaurant and I'd say it exceeded my every expectation! Everything was impressively well balanced, thoughtfully plated and delicious. I was really impressed by the timing of our dinner, the speed of the coursing encouraged us to try different dishes together and to dip our generous serving of tostadas in the many different delightful sauces featured on each plate. We finished our meal with the bone in short rib, served simply with mole and tortillas. I approached this dish with the mindset that it's probably a safe bet for the kitchen from a preparation and cost perspective. I destroyed the short rib, enjoying every last bite, and later found out it was the first day for this dish on the menu! I found that quite impressive, as it is difficult to pull off cooking a perfect braise and presenting it as beautifully while maintaining an excellent texture. This goes to show that the true talent of this kitchen is humbly masked by simple, thoughtful, presentation with an emphasis on depth of flavor. I hope to dine at Regards again soon in the future.

    We have loved Regards each of the three times we’ve been there. We brought friends last night who also loved it. The food is always unique with so much flavor. It’s one of our favorites in the Portland area and never disappoints.

    Very unique menu. We did a sampling of items for the four of us to share and enjoyed everything. Staff are very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu
