Regalito is a small Mexican restaurant committed to bringing the "market foods" of Mexico to San Francisco. The dining experience is immediate, the food is fresh, the preparation visible, and the service friendly.

The idea for the restaurant was born during a meal at a Mexico City market stall; three women cooked from a small menu for a dozen customers sitting on benches surrounding the makeshift kitchen. No steam tables, minimal separation between cook and diner – instant community.

Regalito has been designed to encourage community between the kitchen and our guests. The kitchen is completely open, separated by a simple wooden diner counter.

Regalito offers free-range rotisserie chicken and Niman Ranch meats for eat-in and take-out orders. We are committed to using organic, local, and sustainable foods whenever possible.

Regalito is the best place in San Francisco to eat authentic, hand made Mexican food.

lovely dinner. Great wine selection, service was good. Their specialty of chicken is fabulous. The fish tacos were among the best I've had.

Regalito is an old survivor in the Mission, which is now filled with hot new food spots. this is a hybrid of older mexican style with a few new items to beef up the menu.
service if fine. the ambiance is kind of neutral. with a coupon, we began with two nice glasses of red wine, then a guacamole dip, main courses of the chicken taco and pork shoulder (I think). we finished with the tres leche cake, basically a strawberry shortcake variation.
all dishes were tasty, with plenty of food on the plates. nothing was really special. but all items were nicely prepared and generously served.

The taquitos de papa are a good starter. The carne asada was delicious and so was the tildo de pollo. The handmade tortillas were perfect. For dessert the flan was good and not too sweet. The service was great and the food is always tasty and fresh. It’s not my first time here and each time I am not disappointed.

The brunch was wonderful. The enchiladas verdes con pollo were tasty, if a bit bland, as were the spicier chilaquiles rojos. (My family is from Mexico City.) The only reason for the four stars is that they need to make better, and stronger, coffee.

Our waiter was just perfect! The right amount of attention, the right amount of leaving us alone, the right amount of checking back with us. Will definitely recommend to others and return ourselves. Great find.

This is one of the Mission’s Little Jewels. It’s great Mexican food using fresh organic ingredients and delicious spices. I recommend the potato taquitos, dark mole, and enchiladas verdes. The staff is sweet and you never feel rushed. They have a beautiful outdoor seating area that is covered, green, and has heat lamps. Definitely a good place to host a birthday party for 8-14 friends.

A bustling, casual, slightly crowded Mexican restaurant with very friendly people and great food. We arrived before our reservation time and the hostess was very accommodating and seated us right away. We had margaritas, guacamole enchiladas verdes, and cochinita pibil (braised pork), and bread pudding for dessert. It was all fantastic, maybe particularly the pork and the bread pudding. Highest recommendation.

Delicious meals all around for our party of 6 celebrating a birthday. Exceptional guacamole and chicharrones for appetizers. The pollo regalito was absolutely lucious, half chicken cooked perfectly on the rotisserie, with a tangy sauce...finger lickin' good. Everyone raved about their meals...enchiladas verde, carne asada, and carnitas. This place is an original and definitely a neighborhood gem. So good all around...food, service, ambiance. And the flan topped off the meal perfectly.

I came for a birthday dinner and we were seated in the back patio which was very cute, but heads up - it was a communal table. We had a group of 9 people and although the food was good, service was VERY slow and not that friendly. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or what. They were accommodating for the birthday cake my friends brought to surprise me which was nice.

Authentic Mexican fare with friendly staff. I've being going to Regalito for several years and it's consistently good. I always thought I disliked Mexican food based on what's served up in most "Mexican" restaurants in California. I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit to Regalito because the food wasn't what I expected. It's basically home style Mexican food. The portions are generous and the quality good. There's a covered patio with a communal table at the back of the restaurant (with heaters) which is used for groups of about 12 people, or individual diners.

Nice little restaurant. Patio in back for larger groups. Fairly conventional Mexican menu done right. Great tortillas. Had Enchiladas Verde and roast pork. Both excellent. Cactus salad refreshing. Fun neighborhood.

On Saturday evening the restaurant was almost empty. Only a few people were dining in the commun table in the patio. My roasted chicken was very dry. The mix of kale and potatoes was tasteless and dry. I went to Regalito longtime ago and I had a better memory of their cuisine. I won't go there again.

This was my fourth time in the last four months to go to Regalitos Rosticeria. For me, it's not your typical Mexican fare. I feel the food is upscale Mexican and deliciously tasty. The appetizer Papas and chorizos are so delectable. The guacamole is wonderful and served with their in house chips. The chicken mole is very good. The hand made tortias are delicious and you can't just eat one. The Agave Margaritas are to die for. The first time to Regalitos, I had the Chicken Mole. I wasn't disappointed. The next visit, I had the chicken enchiladas. Excellent. My last visit this pass weekend, I tried the vegetarian enchiladas. I was pleasantly surprised with its flavors. It was a treat. The service is attentive and the price range is moderate. Love everything about Regalitos Rosticeria. It is a little gift of Mexican goodness. Oh, I must not forget, the churros for dessert are wonderful and a must try.

Food average. Nothing spicy enough. Very much geared toward the palates of people not born in California, the Southwest or Texas. Most probably the ideal customer is a person employed by the tech industry who comes from the East, South or Midwest and has a preference for blander American comfort food and likes blander "ethnic" food.
