The idea for the restaurant was born during a meal at a Mexico City market stall; three women cooked from a small menu for a dozen customers sitting on benches surrounding the makeshift kitchen. No steam tables, minimal separation between cook and diner – instant community.
Regalito has been designed to encourage community between the kitchen and our guests. The kitchen is completely open, separated by a simple wooden diner counter.
Regalito offers free-range rotisserie chicken and Niman Ranch meats for eat-in and take-out orders. We are committed to using organic, local, and sustainable foods whenever possible.
Regalito is the best place in San Francisco to eat authentic, hand made Mexican food.
Deliciously authentic Mexican food!
I want to like this place, but there is so much great food in the city I would rather go somewhere else. The food isn't bad, but it could use more seasoning (salt while cooking), both in the guac, the entrees, and the rice/beans. The food is completely decent, but a bit pricey for what you get. The ambiance is a bit strange because when we went the place was largely empty, but a few solitary young children would eat alone at empty tables.
Very, very good Mexican food. We experienced intense favors not encountered before. Definitely will be going back.
We had a dinner date here last Friday. I made a reservation for 5:45pm, but showed up around 5:20pm. Thankfully they sat us early, and we were the only people in the restaurant. The decor is very welcoming. We ordered a carafe of agave margaritas. It seems they only have a beer and wine license as the margaritas did not taste at all like margaritas. For $32, it was a bit high for the taste. We had a handful of starters, as we couldn't decide a main course. We had the pork taquitos, the guacamole y tostadas, and finally the chicharrones with fresh tortillas. I've had so many taquitos in my life, I know a good one when I taste it...and these were FANTASTIC. The guac was about a 7.5 on a scale of 1-10. It needed lots of salt. But the chicharrones were truly the star of the night. My husband was in heaven and we contemplated ordering a second round, but we wanted dessert. I ordered the flan and he ordered the Tres Leches cake with strawberries. We were very happy. We never order dessert, so we were very happy they had something we wanted and loved.
Overall, this is a cute little upscale Mexican place. Good for a date night, and as a local Mission restaurant. I don't think we'll return with all the other places in the City - but then again, we never tried an entree. That Mole Chicken is calling my name!
Great authentic Mexican food; very good friendly service; homemade tortillas to die for
Still my favorite place in the city! The food is amazing and Francisco is top notch!
Everything was delicious.
Excellent service and food. Homemade corn tortillas were delicious.
Really a gem! Very friendly staff, charming restaurant. The homemade tortillas were outstanding as was the carnitas.
Great food and awesome hospitality. Felt like eating in a family home. You could taste the care and love given to the food. Not a fancy expensive restaurant but a cute place with a warm touch and tasty food. We ordered the Regalito pollo and tinga, both awesome. Dessert was tres leches and the bread pudding. Both also awesome. It was a bit cold so I personally liked the warm bread pudding. Will definitely be back!
We were a large group and had the long table at the patio all for ourself, with heat lamps it was lovely and toasty.
The management and service staff were awesome and the food delicious. Best chicken mole in town.
Had a fabulous experience there and will go back when in town. My friends who live here go all the time, the quality of the food is always excellent.
No complaints! Really good. The food was delicious, and the service was great. We had a work dinner, and they have a private room. We were there on a Wednesday, and they sat us there at no cost. Thanks Regalito Rosticeria!
We enjoyed the reasonably priced Mexican food at Regalito
The service was attentive and the food was Mexico - City style -
We will go again soon .
Authentic food at very good price served by nice people
Terrific food, served by a charming and gracious and attentive waitperson, in a casually elegant environment. And they offer a community table on their lovely enclosed patio, which was cozy and inviting, even during a torrential downpour. A perfect place to celebrate a birthday and a surprise engagement.
Regalito has gotten even better than I remember. Each of us had a different entree and all of them were delicious. The tortillas are absolutely fresh and the service was attentive and welcoming. Really delicious Mexican food with a high class experience.
Used Travel Zoo overall pretty good
Great guac. Great pork belly. Entrees good and lots of food. Service great. Cold room. Desserts good. Tortillas had a weird taste. Cooks did not have rubber gloves in while preparing food. Not good!,,
Not from area but worth trying for authentic Mexican food
We enjoyed the meal we had here. Flavors were good but the portions were small for the price. I get it though in SF. Service was excellent and the dessert was fantastic. We would go back again.
This was amazing cuisine! By far, one of the finest authentic Mexican food. The atmosphere and service was personal and attentive. Do not miss it!
The place was fairly empty when we arrived to dine, so they sat us immediately and were able to serve us quickly and attentively. We would definitely go back!
delicious food, good service, family-owned and run. nice people!
I love this place! Service is always great, nice and relaxed. Carne Asada and the chips and guacamole are great. Plus the sangria.
Have the churros!!
Very good, authentic food that is well prepared and nicely presented. Short menu focuses on traditional rather than trendy. Professional, yet casual service that makes you feel welcome. Both the wine and beer lists are short, but well-matched with the food and very reasonably priced.
There is a large communal table on the wonderful back patio that is perfect for groups. Enjoy the ambiance; order everything on the menu and share.
Great place, family business is always better, the service is wonderful, the food is great ant tasty. The best tacos we had!
Thank you for the whole experience
Fantastic food. Nice service. Quiet restaurant in a downmarket area
Always love the fresh lively flavors! Great corn tortillas!
Our second time visiting this restaurant in the past year. Always good service and food is delicious. I had the Taquitos and a Sangria -boyfriend ordered the Bar Tacos (Barbacoa) and a Corona. Good if you are not too hungry, however we also ended up splitting a Barbacoa Burrito. It was yummy! The restaurant is usually noisy and busy, but we were there at 8pm on a Sunday and only 1 large party in the back patio. It was perfect and got to enjoy great service and we could actually hear each other talk!
Regalito is a great place. The food is fresh and delicious. The service is exemplary. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have perfected the right amount of attention without being intrusive. I find the food and the staff to be the perfect combo, and makes Regalito one of my favorite regular places to go to!
Terrific Mission joint. Authentic and high quality Mexican. Not run of the mill. Very helpful staff. Clearly proud of what they are doing. Go.
AMAZING hot churros with hot chocolate!! MUST TRY!!!!! 😍😍😍😍
We had a lovely brunch and enjoyed their beautiful patio. Every dish was delicious and the brunch menu was just right. Pozole was especially good. The service and attention of the staff was amazing.
Friendly service! Made great suggestions for our order! Food was delicious with unique flavors! Would recommend!
This was a great, authentic restaurant that wasn’t as crowded as some of the other Mission restaurants. Staff was super friendly and accommodating with two kids 10 & 11. Overall fantastic experience w wonderful food. Guac and churros are a must. Tinga de pollo..amazing! Tortillas are handmade and absolutely fantastic. Great ambiance. Can’t say enough great things about the staff!
Great Service and Excellent food
Nice surprise great service and authentic food. Really a great find.
Yum! And excellent, friendly service too. We left very pleased.
Really great sangria!
I loved this place. Excellent superb service from Francisco (A++ gentleman, server, and with the way he works it feels like he is part owner), home made food feeling.
When coming in for the second time he shook our hands and just made you feel valued and welcome.
Margaritas we OK but the ingredients used felt of the highest of quality. Sangria is the way to go - much tastier.
Just loved this place. Actually headed back again tonight and felt compelled to write a review before we even arrived again.
Just great all around. Love love loved it!!!
Would recommend in a heartbeat!
An authentic Mexican restaurant, with high quality food freshly prepared. My wife and I were on a trip to SF and visited based on ratings. We were not disappointed. I’m a big fan of Tres Leches and recommend the dessert here! It was delicious...
