We had a reservation and was seated promptly. The food and service was great! Will come back!
Excellent food. I recommend reservations especially around 11 on a Saturday
Great choice for a wide variety of healthy options that also supports local vendors and farms.
This is a local favorite, always fresh, great food and amazing deserts.
It’s a nice restaurant. Will definitely go again. It was me and my friends first time dining at that establishment. I will say it’s a bit confusing for first timers (or just me). I didn’t realize you order, pay, then pick your seating as it wasn’t clear when you walk in. Once I ordered, my cashier didn’t give me a identification pole so that the server can recognize my table which resulted in me getting my food late, and one of the orders was incorrect. Other than that, I had a great experience.
In town for a basketball, we read reviews from others and booked a table at Refectory. The food was outstanding. My wife had the braised ribs and noted they were the best she had ever eaten. The service was efficient and friendly.
Everything was wonderful and the service was prompt and on point
It’s currently a bit of confusion. We, obviously, had reservations, but when we arrived, it was pretty clear that someone without reservations had removed the reservation place markers from our table and placed it on a less desirable table. Ordering from your phone does decrease contact, but zero refills on three buck coffee seems pricey. The food was delicious! But it was a bit on the cooler side. The table next to us was loud and obnoxious—of course, that is not the restaurant’s fault. I heartily recommend the grits bowl. Yum!
Great food options! Pleasant atmosphere. Welcoming and attentive staff. Outdoor dining option.
Super. Loved the place the food and the service
Will try to return
Terrific food and service
Delicious food and good brunch drinks. Love the cafe experience but wait service is still incorporated. Will definitely be back!
Wonderful food and service as always.
We enjoyed the garlic shrimp linguine very much. Nice selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The desserts looked fantastic, although we were too full to sample.
Wonderful as always! Love that they take reservations any time of the day!
Lovely little cafe...definitely recommend making a reservation as the venue is small. Selection of menu is small but vegan/vegetarian options are great. They even have seasonal menus and daily specials. Drink menu is just a large as the food menu. Will definitely be trying this place again.
I appreciated the quick service and the heated patio. I would have liked more clarity on how to get served with my reserved table (going up to counter vs. finding a waiter).
The food is always delicious and service is quick and friendly. We sat outside and had no issues with noise, although it’s possible it was noisier inside. Also can’t beat the mimosas flights. Easily my favorite brunch spot in the area!
Corned beef hash special barely had any corned beef in it and the poached eggs were cooked hard.
Coming from Raleigh there was not a convenient route , however it was worth the drive. The food, staff and desserts are superb. We will likely visit this restaurant again.
Regular spot to celebrate the Jewish of sabbath!!
We had a wonderful dining experience at Refectory Cafe!
As we walked in, we were greeted by the owner, who made some wonderful meal suggestions. We'd made a reservation, so our table was ready for us. The serving staff serve every table, which makes every job easier. The beer and wine selections were not huge, but were all very good options. I ordered the meal that the owner suggested, roasted pork with mashed potatoes and hoisin Brussels sprouts, and it was fantastic. My husband had a lovely piece of fish. There were two large groups dining that night, but it was not at all loud. Everyone appeared to be enjoying their meals.
A superior meal with excellent service! Thanks for a great experience!
A favorite spot for lunch with friends. Highly recommended!
This was our first visit to Refectory Cafe and we have lived in Durham for 30+ years. While we found the service and ambiance to be lacking, the food was delicious. We were surprised by the spartan interior space given the price and quality of the food. With some minor attention to interior lighting and table placement, a more intimate atmosphere would make the dining experience more pleasurable for dinner. That being said, we will return...maybe for lunch!
It was our first time coming and we truly enjoyed it! Will definitely be back for brunch!
Outstanding food, outstanding service, two visits in a row. They're batting 1000!
Good service but underwhelming food. Not as good as advertised.
Always a pleasant place for a meal, whether brunch or dinner.
This was our first time at Refectory Cafe. We had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the service was spectacular! Will definitely be back.
Excellent service coupled with good food and beverages! Readily accommodated our large party of 8 outside. Love the Refectory!!
Excellent evening out, thank you for your service.
Four of us ate before concert at DPAC - a quick drive to parking garage. Killer homemade chips and excellent crab sandwich. I can’t recall what my dinner companions had but everyone was happy. Clean but not ‘sterile’ environment.
On this first visit dinner we were a bit surprised by the cafeteria appearance of the restaurant, which is not shown in photos in their online Gallery. Several of the items in the OpenTable-linked full menu were not on the current menu, including two that were part of our choice to go. Our server delivered our salad, then three minutes later someone else brought our entrees, so not good timing. Food we received was plentiful and very good, and reasonably priced. So, while not a very attractive place despite nice pictures on the walls and good choice of music, it was a really good meal and we would go again for everyday dinining...just not a place for an elegant occasion or to impress guests.
Nice casual Brunch spot near Duke. Food was good and nice size portions.
The food was excellent. The service was great as well! A perfect beginning to a birthday weekend!
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful evening on our last night in North Carolina. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful with our questions. The crab cakes were crispy on the outside and soft and full of flavor on the Inside. The shrimp was abundant on the pasta and shrimp dish and the meat bolognese was superb. The restaurant had a few other tables but it was quiet and the music light so that we were able to enjoy our conversation as a family. Btw it was nice to not have to wear a mask!!! Thank you from a Texas family!
Totally enjoyed our first time there. Great food. We will be back !
Service was a bit slow, but the Food was delicious. They have vegan and vegetarian options also a keto dessert
Dinner was very good.
