Kitchen and bar were super slow. Very long visit. People next to us complained of being there even longer
Every time we go the food has been very good and served while hot.
We have been going to Reel for years, one of our favorites in dt Woodstock. I completely get the lack of staff etc these days & I believe they were trying their best. The restaurant itself just needs a good cleaning & ambience redo. My favorite dish was still wonderful (Shrimp Tagliatelle) but just wasn’t the same fine dining vibe they used to have.
Service was okay. Food came out too fast after being served appetizer. Waited for drinks. Birthday dinner.. was not impressed this time
The restaurant is worn down and in poor condition - chairs, tables need replacing. It's dark and gives a dingy vibe. The food was terrible - pork chop entrée was oversalted; brisket hamburger massively overcooked, to the point of hockey puck. The stuffed french toast was terrible all the way around. The descriptions of the dishes sound good but they are not executed well. When you look around at the few tables with patrons, you will see lots of unfinished plates. Meaning people didn't want to eat it, nor did they like it enough to take home. We have tried this place twice, thinking it was a fluke and would try again. No, nope, not going back - it's the whole experience.
I was very disappointed with the tuna. Lots of connective tissue. I could not cut it with my knife.
We had a 7 pm reservation and were seated promptly. They were very busy and crowded, and the noise level was extremely loud. One had to shout across the table to be heard. 10 minutes after we were seated we had our water glasses filled by a manager, 20 minutes we finally saw our waiter, who possessed a peculiar attitude of disdain. No mention of specials, no recommendations. We ordered oysters on the half shell and barbeque shrimp which came out 15 minute later, asking with two appetizer plates (the were 4 of us), and no spoon for the cocktail and horseradish sauce. When he finally came back we asked for the additional plates and serving spoon and he questioned what we needed a spoon for, after which he made it very clear by his look that we were displeasing him. Someone else brought the spoon and plates. Them out main entrees arrived, ONE AT A TIME 5 MINUTES APART. They were all delicious, btw. Our lobster Mac and cheese did not come as they burned the first batch and it would be another 20 minutes. I told our waiter we wouldn't be interest and he said they would comp the side and desserts for the table, and I said ok but nevermind the Mac and cheese. 25 minutes later we are completely finished with empty plates and they bring the Mac and cheese. When our waiter finally appears we order two desserts, and our waiter says "we're only comping one dessert". At this point we'd agree to almost anything to get out of there, so ok. Desserts arrived separately, 10 minutes apart. When I received the bill I'm charged a $1 separately for my Manhatten drink which I questioned, " oh we always do that". Never been charged $1 for ice. Long story short, food was wonderful, service was horrible, and the noise level was out of control. If I ever go back it won't be in a Friday night, and Covid had nothing to do with service because they had staff standing around doing nothing.
Great experience! Delicious food! Went two nights in a row!
Our serve was overwhelmed, however the restaurant was not busy at all. The couple next to us left after being there an hour and not getting food. The tables were way too close. As I said, I could hear every word at the tables on either side even though the place itself was extremely loud. The food was okay, but nothing special.
The food was delicious. Two of us ordered the trout with Brussel sprouts. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits which he said was great. Our server was very attentive. This was our first time there, we will be going back.
Very good seafood in downtown Woodstock. Waitress was very helpful as we made a selection even offering a wine tasting when we could not decide.
The kitchen was slow and servers were missing meals to parties. I never received part of my order, they got my wife's order wrong and still tried to charge me for their more expensive mistake. The server offered to comp dessert but it still showed up on my tab. Then the owner's daughter attempt to ease over the problems only ended up sounding like, 'we're really busy, my dad is the cook, the business supports our family so please don't be disappointed and y'all come back now ya hear..'
I understand challenges due to short staffing but there appears to be a need for some formal customer service training to the wait staff and a need for a kitchen service manager.
The food is good but the less than par level of service takes away from the experience.
food was great...BUT 4 people eating, 2 got their food normally the another person got their food as the first two were done then 5 min later the last person got their food.
Never received any food after waiting for over an hour and a half. Couldn’t even get a kids chicken finger brought out. Drinks came out in a timely manner but that’s about it!!! Won’t be eating here for a really long time.
The food was really good and fresh. Everything came out quick even while it was a busy night.
Very average experience and food for the price.
food was terrible service was worse
The food was really delicious and the service was wonderful.
Just not good
Absolutely terrible service, the food was amazing to bad
Food was excellent especially the mussels and margarita's--Atmosphere was definitely way too loud--after we had made a reservation and assurred of a quiet table--Service was terrible -- long wait for drinks--and appetizers--longer wait for more bread--Once our food was served waitress disappeared and never came back until she brought our check-then was gone again when we requested boxes--never making an offer for coffee or desserts--Took her over 25 minutes to process our check--She was either overworked or not interested--Very disappointed
Reel seafood is delicious and the staff is fantastic!
Sean was an excellent server. Very knowledgeable about the menu. He is very kind and attentive. We will be back for two reasons the food and his service
Delicious food, the salmon was moist and tasty. Cassandra the server was very attentive of us but not intrusive, very kind .
Good time and dinner meal was very good! however ordered dessert waited 25 minutes never received. Waiter never came by to explain why it was taking so long, alerted the hostess to tell our waiter as he never came back to our table so we left. Hope the restaurant refunds the costs of the dessert.
Our server dropped off our appetizer and never came back to check on us until 21 minutes after receiving our entrees. However, we did see him at the nearby table numerous times. We both had empty drinks by the time the appetizer was done and never got asked for a second round or had our waters refilled the entire meal. When the food runner dropped off our food we asked her for an extra plate and she never came back and we also had to get salt and pepper off another table. The quality of the food did not make up for the terrible service and disappointed we were able to try a second round of drinks as we both enjoyed our first one and excited to try another - which I don’t think we will be back to get it another try.
The acoustics are horrible not energetic, loud. Went for brunch. Family enjoyed ourselves and server was awesome.
The food was delicious and the service was great!
Great food as always. Our go too restaurant
Great food and fantastic service…. Will be back soon!
No masks. Even in the kitchen. 😒
Food and service was good tonight
Overall the place needs some attention.
Holes in the wall and filthy.
Doors so filthy and unpainted.
Usually if your bathroom is dirty so it your kitchen.
Seemed like there was no manager in present.
Been a regular customer prior to Covid
Don’t know if will continue to be be a regular.
Tempora eggs are amazing
This restaurant has a lot of potential, because the location is great and the food was really good. The problem was the ambiance of the place, the service and what seemed to be a mother/son argument which was very unprofessional and noticeable to the patrons.
The ambiance: completely quiet with no music or background noise other than people talking and hearing the staff talking or arguing with each other.
The service: it took too long to get drinks or appetizers. Also, the waiter did not write anything down, and two items we ordered never came. We had to take those two items to go, because our waiter still put in the order after we said we never got them.
The argument: we could clearly hear a mother who was either the manager or owner constantly yelling at her son, and the son arguing back. At one point she was yelling for him to shut up across the restaurant. Also, she had him cleaning vents that were dirty, which was not a great sight while you are eating. Probably better to do this when your closed...
Clean up some management issues and this could be the seafood restaurant of choice for most...
Nice dinner date out with my wife. Great food and good service even though they were busy. Always have good experiences and the best seafood in the area.
Try the swordfish you won’t go wrong.
Food was delicious. Service was poor. Waited over one hour after placing order before food was served. Waiter was not attentive at all.
Service was very slow. Too many tables and not enough help
I'm picking about dining out and with seafood in particular. Everything here that we tried has been spot on. The food is of superior quality, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked.
Food has always been delicious, however there are obvious struggles dealing with post-Covid operations. It appeared that everyone was running crazy with o direction. Our party of 5 had entrees delivered over a 5-7 minute window. No apologies or reasoning why.....waiter visited one time after taking our order before bringing the check.....drinks were empty and would have loved desert but was unwilling to wait another half hour for it.
