We are saddened to announce that The Reel Seafood Company has permanently closed its doors after serving customers on Saturday, January 18. The Reel Seafood Company wishes to thank you, the customer, for your many years of support and dedication. Your support over the years is the reason Reel Seafood was the most highly regarded seafood restaurant in the Capital Region.

The decision to close our wonderful and iconic restaurant was a very difficult one and not one entered into lightly. We are committed to assisting each and every one of our loyal and dedicated employees to find employment.

The food I ate was good, but two points to make- 1) for a seafood (specialty) restaurant, the menu was small and lacking. I have better selection at Red Lobster (ouch, I know, I'm sorry). There is so much that can be done with seafood and yet the appetizers and entrees offered little variety. 2) I wanted to get that seafood pot but ended up with the coconut shrimp because I was advised the seafood pot is not shelled. I'm at a point in my life where I'm not looking to order what essentially should be a fisherman's stew but needs to be deconstructed by me, the customer. I was disappointed. I wanted something like a nice fisherman's stew but no luck. I was referred to get something else but the "something else" only had 3 different seafood ingredients. Not interesting when you're looking for more than that. This place used to be awesome with more options. It's not maintained that unique seafood quality for its location. It's clear the word is out, as it was a Friday, during Lent, in the winter. It should've been packed. Maybe with a revamped menu more people will return.

Service was horrible. Sat at 7:00 - entrees served at 8:40. They were overwhelmed. Meal was okay. Scallop appetizer - 2 scallops? $16.00? Seriously? Other tables were upset. Manager was giving away free drinks. Broiled platter was way too buttery

We were disappointed that the menu had changed and did not offer many of the items we liked. Very pricey and we did not feel the food was worth it. Even the house wine was a little high at $9.00 a glass. Doubt very much that we will return here.

food was good but very expensive . Extra sides $6-8 wow . Drinks were good . Service was good from waitstaff but meal slow to come out . Nice place but for special occasions only .

The seafood was about average. It was way overpriced. We were there about a ye ar ago. It was expensive but the quality of the food was such that we were willing to splurge. However the seafood was not the high quality we experienced at our previous visit. It was disappointing.

This was my second visit as I liked it so much the first time. Delicious fish --wish there were more seafood options such as just grilled fish w/ choice of sauces.

The tuna had the right amount of heat and the broth was flavorful. The Tuscan salmon had a fresh tomato bruschetta.
