Reel Fish Coastal Kitchen & Bar
The restaurant’s daily blackboard specials and core recipes feature creative takes on fresh-caught fish not typically found on many inland-Florida seafood restaurant menus, including tile fish, trigger fish, sheepshead, hogfish and other local species. The Reel Fish menu includes signature classics like fried seafood platters, shrimp & creamy cheese grits, whole fried market fish, such as yellow tail snapper, and Low Country Boils featuring shrimp, bay scallops and crab legs.
Central to the restaurant will be a raw bar serving oysters on the half shell, broiled and steamed, as well as ceviche and peel & eat fresh Florida shrimp.
Everyone was friendly and welcoming from the time we walked i. The door. Had the happy hour peel and eat shrimp - very good and fresh- and the swordfish over sweet potatoes which was the special- excellent! Enjoyed our evening enough that we will be returning in a few days
Our server, Maddie went above and beyond the call of duty.
The food was very good. The service was prompt and friendly.
Amazing service from Bethel...we were in a rush and she hustles the good to our take in time! The fish was just delicious...maybe one of the best fish sandwiches we have ever had. Great beer selection. Shrimp and grits were great and seafood chowder was just loaded with seafood. Will become a repeat stop!!
Food was delicious. Restaurant was full and loud.
We went with a group of 8 people. Service was great. Very friendly and helpful. Very nice atmosphere. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food although one person said the chicken, grits and collards were too salty for their taste.. The broiled seafood platter with tomatoes and okra was very good. Will definitely go back again.
Our food was great, but our service was not great. We waited for over 30 minutes for our main courses. And when they did finally come out some items were missing and we had to wait longer for those. At no point did the waiter or any member of staff apologize for our long wait. Our waiter seemed indifferent altogether unless we were ordering more beer/alcohol. With so many great options in Winter Park, I wouldn't rush back to this place.
We came before going to Orlando Shakes. We wanted to try Reel Fish because of its proximity to the theater and it was an excellent choice. We lucked out with a parking place right at the front door. The server was very helpful. Tasted the cabernets and chose the one I preferred which was a delight. Ordered the fried green tomatoes which were a unique presentation with a higher spice level but fried perfectly. I had the tuna which was terrific. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and we will definitely return.
We got broiled oysters for an appetizer and they were both large and delicious! I got the special of Parmesan crusted tilefish over Alfredo butter garlic linguine which the fish was great, the linguine, ok. My spouse got the Baja tacos with blackened cod which is always good. Finished off with their great key lime pie- always a pleasure and enjoyable!
Very laid back cool fish camp vibe. Wine list was on point. Service was great/ Great area of town. Reasonable priced
Excellent food and service.
Our food was delicious. The fish o the sandwich could have been larger.
What a find! Super fresh seafood and great service and ambiance.
We came here for Valentines and decided to split some small plates instead of our usual entrees. We enjoyed it because we saved room for dessert. Our waiter mentioned a special chocolate orange tart another member of the staff had whipped up. So good that we brought him out to compliment him and ordered a second piece to go! I hope they make it a staple item.
The food was bland and overpriced for the portions. The waitress and her trainee were lovely. They very appropriately suggested I get blackening seasoning to my broiled seafood which helped but all in all not a restaurant where I would return.
Food is always consistently good and service is attentive, depending on your server. At times it can be slower particularly waiting for water or drinks, but I find earlier hours don't seem to be an issue or eating at the bar. I've been eating here since they first opened and it's on our rotation of favorites, go to places.
It's a different from other seafood dining options as they have a nice mix of dishes including a good number of dished for non-seafood people. I don't know many places in town that cook a whole fish that you pick out yourself. That's a treat! If you haven't tried it once, you should.
They also have a lot of great specials, and celebrations through out the year, which builds a community and builds a following. If you haven't checked this place out, highly recommend you do so you don't miss out!
Came for lobster dinner. Shell was tough to crack. Not pliable. Lobster was chewy and not sweet. Overcooked?
Don’t like the cole slaw. Too vinegary.
Baked potato was overcooked.
So not happy.
Husbands dinner, pecan crusted trout, was delish. Cheese grits the best.
They were having a lobster special. Maine lobster tail for $33. Yum!!! It might have been the best lobster we have ever eaten.
This was my first time there and won't be the last. All the service staff were fantastic and the food was good.
Always delicious and Hayley and Sydney at the bar were great!!!!
The food is always fresh and and well prepared. The servers are excellent and ready to please. Sometimes a little pricey, so it's a "special occasion" visit for us usually.
Took my girlfriend here and she broke up with me.
Lobster was wonderful. Always enjoy this fine restaurant.
Second visit in a week. Great find. Good vibe - not your typical Florida fish house “rustique.” Outstanding quality for the price for seafood. Fried fish is lightly fried, non greasy! I never order clam crisps because they are normally junk. Not these. Actual clam strips lightly fried. The best. I can also recommend the Avocado and Shrimp Louie. I haven’t tried the fresh oysters yet, but they did have cold water oysters which I prefer. Great prices too considering especially the Winter Park location.
We have been regulars since they opened. Went for the 3 year anniversary lobster special and really enjoyed it. Lots of food with a loaded baked potato and excellent cheese grits. Slice of really good key lime pie to finish. Congrats Fred on a solid 3 years and wish you many more.
Pre concert meal with good friends. Loved the roasted oysters and the shrimp salad. The pecan encrusted trout was also a big winner. Attentive service and fun atmosphere make this place special Just do something about the sticky over lacquered tables!
FIrst timer here, we went in during happy hours. I was with my 16 year old and asked if we wanted to take advantage of small plate specials if we had to sit in bar area, was told yes. But it was very quiet ambiance and we got a booth so no worries. Started with fried clams that were light and crispy and huge great deal for $6 basket. We tried their famous fish dip was fabulous smoked trout with green apples fabulous since I do not like it with onion and celery. Pleasantly surprised :) Then we ordered gumbo and shrimp and grits, both of those dishes I have had better. Winter Park Fish Co out does their shrimp and grits by far and the gumbo was gumbo nothing special. But overall great experience we were in by 6:10 and out by 7 on a Thursday. Will return to try something new.
Not sure if our server was having an 'off' night but he seemed unhappy to be there. tossed plates onto the table and dropped crackers on me and didn't even apologize.
with that said - the food was delicious and we would return and give them another try.
We met our friends for dinner on Saturday night. It was a very good thing we weren’t in a hurry! The service was extremely slow and border line unfriendly. The food, once received, was just OK - not at all like on our 2 previous visits! In fact, the Pompano special was just yucky and cold. The Shrimp & Corn chowder was also cold as was the gumbo! And don’t get me started on the potatoes that came with the filet - HOW can you mess up potatoes?? It’s got a fun vibe inside and nice ‘buzz’, but we won’t be back!
Fantastic experience, service was very friendly food was top notch
The food is always great here and the place has a happy energy to it. Servers are very knowledgeable about the menu and give good advice on what to order. Specialty cocktails are good also.
We enjoyed our pre-theater dinner with a combination of favorite selections and some selections from the menu specials. One guest said that his martinis were the best he had ever been served in a restaurant. The stone crab claws were especially good, both sweet and sizable.
My wife , sister and I went to Reel Fish Friday night. My wife and I are somewhat regulars and when my sister came to town to visit, it immediately became where we wanted to take her. We weren’t disappointed and she was impressed. I had the shrimp and scallops while my wife and sister both enjoyed the Tile special. Reel Fish is consistently fresh and prepared excellently. A must stop for everyone.
We dined with four friends new to Reel Fish. They loved the smoked fish appetizers, pecan crusted trout, fish tacos and shrimp salad which was huge. We’ll all be back!
Outstanding service and good value
It was AMAZING! From the raw bar to the appetizers to the main course! A shout out to Bethel our server! Our food was brought out hot and fresh ! And our drinks cold and we never went thirsty!
Being from Florida I’d have to say they have the freshest food and we will be back!
My wife and I enjoyed a great dinner at Reel Fish. I had the LA Gumbo and my wife enjoyed the Grouper. Both prepared superbly. Also enjoyed the cornbread with the caramelized onions. A must have.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Orlando.
