Reel Fish Coastal Kitchen & Bar
The restaurant’s daily blackboard specials and core recipes feature creative takes on fresh-caught fish not typically found on many inland-Florida seafood restaurant menus, including tile fish, trigger fish, sheepshead, hogfish and other local species. The Reel Fish menu includes signature classics like fried seafood platters, shrimp & creamy cheese grits, whole fried market fish, such as yellow tail snapper, and Low Country Boils featuring shrimp, bay scallops and crab legs.
Central to the restaurant will be a raw bar serving oysters on the half shell, broiled and steamed, as well as ceviche and peel & eat fresh Florida shrimp.
Seafood was very good and fresh. But the dessert Orange Blossom was a STAR. Soooo good!
Great food. Great ambiance. The owner was in the house showing guests his appreciation. Wonderful place. Thanks!
We started off with grill oysters, then oysters Rockefeller for starters-delicious! Our entrees included a whole fried snapper, LA gumbo, pecan crusted rainbow trout and a crawfish Mac n cheese. The fried fish was perfectly prepared as well as the trout, LA Gumbo though the gumbo has a slight kick and flavorful. Finish it off with a slice of the key lime pie- one of the areas best!
We loved our experience at Reel Fish Coastal Kitchen. Great food! The shrimp and grits were a favorite, as was the whole fried fish. As one of our dining partners said, "If the hushpuppies are good, you know the rest of the food will be, too". We were not disappointed! Great server. Nice atmosphere. We enjoyed conversation without the effort of having to talk over loud noise. My only regret was that we didn't have time to stay for dessert. We were heading to a show after dinner. We will go back!
Amazing! Food, staff everything was perfect!
Food is EXCELLENT! Service is SLOW. It's not the server, its the kitchen. 1.5 hours for lunch is unacceptable. We will be back because the quality of the food is really great.
Ordered various appetizers for a light lunch. Everything tasted delicious. Bartender made some good cocktails. Will recommend restaurant.
Very fresh - great first experience. We will definitely go back to try different dishes on the menu
The Baja Fish tacos were delicious but I asked for corn tortillas and was given flour tortillas. To make things worse the waiter was convinced they were corn. So I tasted them and confirmed they were not corn tortillas. The waiter finally brought me corn tortillas on the side. If I had an allergy that could have been a problem.
I apologize for the length of this review. We want to love this restaurant, but I’ve almost given up.
The food is amazing. The fish is market fresh and it is prepared perfectly. They have a solid menu of items and vary the menu with creative specials with the freshest ingredients. The sides are terrific. The collard greens, for example, are smoky with just the right balance of tangy and sweet.
The house cocktails are very good. Their version of an Old Fashioned is a highlight with a “dirty cherry” syrup and orange bitters. The bread pudding and key lime pie desserts are top top notch — you’d be hard pressed to find better versions in town.
But the service. My God, the service is .... so ....... damned ................ slow.
We are not the kind of unreasonable folks who expect good food at fast-food speed. We like to have a well-paced meal, so you can enjoy your companions and the food and not feel rushed. But 20 minutes to get your drinks? 30 minutes to get a dozen raw oysters?
We have dined here numerous times at various times since it opened. It started slow and it has stayed slow.
And it’s not the wait staff. They seem to be well trained, knowledgeable about the menu and attentive. There has got to be something going on with the back of the house or the ordering system that causes the delays. When the food arrives it is appropriately hot and delicious, so it’s not sitting around after it’s cooked. The manager/owner is often on site and helps deliver the food to the table. Most times, all the food arrives at once, but if one person’s meal doesn’t come with the others it can be five or 10 minutes before it arrives. And the one time one of our dining companions had to send something back, the re-fire took more than 20 minutes.
It is so frustrating because it must be costing this guy a fortune in lost business — we’ve had no problem getting a table at 7 or 7:30 on a Friday or Saturday night. People should be lined up out the door for the food.
Outstanding customer service. Perfectly prepared dishes. Cool bar
This is a great place to have some fresh seafood in the Winter Park area. It has a fun vibe with a bar area and a dining area. The drinks are excellent as well. Miller was our server and he was friendly, informative and helpful. The fried fish is light and flaky. We did not have dessert but they have a great selection.
We love seafood and have been to every restaurant in Winter Park. I don’t know why we have never been to Reel, but it was a huge surprise. Simply wonderful. Live music and happy hour drinks and a full menu. My mussles were prepared perfectly and my hubby loved his oysters and poboy. This is a fun and delicious place to bring out of town guest. We are now BIG Fans!
Jen was a wonderful server. Was able to cater to gluten free/celiac safe foods. Fried green tomatoes were exceptional. Salmon was delicious!!would love to go back.
Great locally owned seafood restaurant with comfortable seating.
Enjoyed my linguini and clams very much! I highly recommend it. Green fried tomatoes were also very good but they were a bit pricey for four of them!
I really liked this restaurant when it first opened up but I feel like the amount of fish that is served has gotten smaller. The fish that is served is delicious but the value is not really worth it for me.
It's a wonderful place to eat one of the gems of winter park (such good fresh seafood) and they have only been open 2 years but if my visit here with my mom and grandparents is anywhere near normal I'm sure they will be celebrating many many more years here
This was an incredibly disappointing experience. Orders were messed up. No pun intended, but there was a definite 'bait and switch' when they ran out (at 6:30 on a week night) of the chef's choice 1 1/2 lb yellow-tail and did my husband want to go for the 2 lb. for $12 more. (Not the money, but the principle...seriously?) Wine sangria had one orange slice, not as menu stated with lots of fruit. Appetizer was served raw instead of lightly steamed. Tried to deliver 2 out of 3 dinner orders while we were still waiting for appetizer situation to be fixed. The kicker was when the bill arrived and my husband's 2 Macallan 12 year old cocktails were $36...again, not the money, we expected that, but, without notification, it was the $4 charge for the 'rocks' that sealed our decision to never return and to, adamantly, not recommend this venue to our friends. Seriously, $4 for ice???? I left the server a more than sufficient tip, but I think I was just glad we were leaving. (After the first 2 errors, we should have had a visit from management. Yes, they took the sangria off the bill, but apologies for a total fiasco would have been appreciated.
We had a party of 6. Everyone loved their food.
Food was delicious but the fresh catch special of the day was a very small portion.
Delicious oysters !!
Had an early dinner at Reel Fish, and ordered fried shrimp (with coleslaw, french fries, and hushpuppies) and the shrimp was very good. The french fries and coleslaw were OK, but not majestic! My companion had tile fish, which he said was excellent. I would try this restaurant again.
A+ Their shrimp salad is AMAZING! Fish dip is a fantastic appetizer
Great, friendly service from our server Candace. Inviting atmosphere. Owner visibly involved in restaurant.
all 5 stars exceptional. The noise level was so high
may not want to return even though I loved the food
Some entrees were overpriced for the portion size. I had to remind the waiter of the BOGO drink special. Our ticket was arbitrarily added together despite a vast deifference in the order totals. The decor is not up the standard that I am accustomed to for Winter Park.
Great dinner of raw oysters and a grilled fish. We sat outside by sidewalk.
Excellent food. Only negative experience was waitress rattled off her spiel like a machine gun, too fast to understand her. Had to order from the written menu, because she was running one word into the next making her verbal delivery unintelligible
I would recommend Costal Kitchen and Bar. However being our frist time there we had to wait at the table for our server to greet us for a good bit. Someone did drop off this tiny little metal bowl of crackers. No explation as to what they where. Although the food was good but felted as though the oysters so tiny for what they charged. I ones I had were no bigger than a quarter. It was served on this giant bed of ice with cocktail sauce and another mixture that was never explained. I had to taste it to figure it out. Again it was our first time eating there and our server knew that. Overall it was ok. Loved the music playing. Would I go back, hmm maybe.
Always a great menu with interesting daily specials. The pecan-crusted trout is outstanding.
This place was a great find! The seafood was excellent as well as the service. We went for the late lunch early dinner timeframe and the place was quiet. A must have is the low country boil or the shrimp and grits!
Thank you, Reel Fish staff, for being a part of a special day!
Went in at 6:45. Dinner took around 45 minutes to arrive. Food was good but kids food was bland. For what we ordered, the wait time was way beyond what any of us considered normal.
Mom never received a water refill. Manager did bring food but nothing was said about the wait. They did remove a kids meal that came out undercooked but was apparently put back on the grill. Bun was then too soggy to eat.
Waitress did offer something else but at this point it was late and everyone wanted to go.
Dined with a friend before a show. I had the mussels as an entree and the portion size was very generous. The flavor was outstanding and I felt it was very reasonably priced.
Had a wonderful time Saturday night at Reel Fish. Food and service were great. I really loved the music. It was a real treat!
Service so slow..ordered our drinks..omg ..i ate my entree..yet my drinks..came after. ugh....will..not spend my dollars there. Again..I..TY
Always a great meal. The best local seafood restaurant in all of Central FL.
Food was great and our server was very attentive. It did, however, take a long time to get our drinks and food. It was not very busy, so hopefully, they are better prepared when the get slammed on a weekend.
New go to when near Orlando. Aubrey is the best. Fish chowder is a must get
