Fifty feet from Carnegie Hall, near Central Park and convenient to all midtown hotels, the Redeye takes its name from the infamous late-night flight linking America's two cultural hubs. The flavors of the two coasts are fused in both the grand cafe's interior design and the bold New American menu.
View Private Dining DetailsExpensive, but the prix fixe business lunch is fine.
Bringing warm cookies around is a nice touch but awkward while diners are eating their appetizers. Seems like that should be orchestrated better if you're trying to create the warm fuzzies with diners.
Great! Had a great view. Live piano Music was excellent. Sunday night. They had run out of short ribs and beef tacos but the food we ended up having was great. Tuna poke bowl and sushi
Outstanding wait staff, great food, nice music. Will return the next time I am in NYC.
We were looking for a restaurant for brunch on a Sunday prior to a show at Carnegie Hall. This place was great! Directly across the street and a real, authentic NY restaurant. I had crab cake eggs benedict and they were awesome. The brussels sprouts were great for the table. My only issue was our server was a bit in the weeds and we seemed to constantly have to find somebody to get our drinks, get the check, etc. Nevertheless, I would strongly recommend this restaurant.
The food was terrible and it took forever to get service. It was also extremely over priced. Worst meal I have had in NYC.
Everything was very good. Price is high.
This restaurant hits it on all burners; food, atmosphere and service. We went here after the theater(worth the walk or short ride) and for the second time once again we were treated to excellent service, relatively quiet atmosphere (no problem having a conversation) and very good quality food(Chilean sea bass, scrumptious hamburger and delicious banana cream pie for desert.) Our waiter, Craig, could not have been more knowledgeable, courteous and prompt.
Really, the place to go before or after being at Carnegie Hall or in our case going a little out of the way before or after Broadway theater
Redeye Grill has excellent food, attractively presented, in a spacious, handsome room--or outdoors, weather permitting. The staff is professional, friendly, and keeps a watchful eye to be alert to guests' needs. You can rely on a satisfying dining experience in a part of town with lots going on.
Good selections, good vibe...a repeat favorite If I can't write a review in my own words, however limited, completing future reviews may be difficult.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. The menu had options for all types of diners. The seared tuna was excellent and the onion rings were fabulous. Some live music in the bar area made for a great atmosphere. I will definitely eat here again.
Food was very good, service was excellent
Loved the ambiance and duet singing by the bar. Lasagna was ok but I wouldn’t order it again. Tacos, corn, fries were all great
Great location- directly across the street from Carnegie Hall.
Nice time and delicious food, great service!
Had a reservation but had to wait almost 20 minutes for a table. Had a curtain and they did get me out in time to get to the performance. Had the table been ready it would not have been necessary to rush through the entree which was actually quite tasty and deserved to be savored; it was a quite imaginative and well-prepared dish. The wine by the glass is a bit pricey but not confiscatory.
The food was good but the waiter had too many tables so the service while quite friendly should have been far more attentive
Seamless pre-theater dinner with friends, great food and service, not cheap (though about normal for nice places in Midtown). One of our party was in a wheelchair and they made access to a great table very smooth, given that I had alerted the staff to this fact beforehand.
My out-of-town family members were staying nearby, so I arranged for Sunday brunch at the Redeye. The service by our waiter was exceptional. The food was very good and the variety of options was helpful for a diverse group of eaters. It's a lovely space and we had a wonderful family reunion there.
Great Brunch place just steps from the theatre district.
There was a really wonderful live performer there tonight singing and playing the piano. He had a beautiful voice - it really added to the ambiance.
Good! The crab was great
Great evening with friends! Service was thoughtful and prompt; menu selections were perfectly prepared and very tasty; live music added a nice touch. Looking forward to our return visit.
We have been coming to the Redeye for 20 years. We were very disappointed this visit. My husband could not finish his smoked salmon and eggs because it did not taste good. This has never happened at a restaurant or at home before. He also disliked the breakfast potato side dish. The crab and avocado salad was tasty, but the desert menu was filthy and the dark chocolate cake was too sweet-not worth the calories or the $12.50. We did not finish it.
Very expensive for what you are getting. A bit of a tourist trap. I would not recommend.
The food was good, cooked very well. Service was very good. Our waiter was friendly, informative providing us with outstanding service. Both the salmon and Chilean seabass were cooked perfectly and sauce for each was quite good. My wife would have like a bit more of accompaniment with her salmon. I was fine with my portion. We split a crab cakes as an appetizer and it was good. Our shared desert was yummy, banana cream pie.
Very good! They treated my friend very week for her birthday. The music guy was on point and the whole ambience was just great.
Great choice if you’re going to Carnegie Hall. Miso black cod: fabulous. Banana cream pie: great, I ate the whole piece! Lovely, attentive service for a woman dining alone.
Once again I came to the Redeye with a friend before a performance at Carnegie Hall. The food was delicious, the service quite good, and we got to the concert on time. This time we had a booth, which was more conducive to conversation that we didn't particularly want to broadcast.
Fabulous service. Great atmosphere with live music and must try the dark chocolate on the way out. !!
The wait staff was very accommodating. The food was delicious. The portions are huge. My friend and I shared an appetizer of fried calamari, which was absolutely delicious but so huge we didn't finish it. We wanted to save room for our mains. She had the Ahi Tuna Poke bowl, a very nice size and delicious. I had the Fish Tacos which came with guacamole, chips and a piece of roasted corn. They were so good. I just wish I had room to eat it all. We just had cappuccino for dessert.
Food great but waiter inattentive last 30 minutes as he was texting.
I have eaten here in the past, and I was surprised about the quality of food we got. We had gotten the vegetable barley soup, and roasted chicken. The soup was salty, and the chicken was really really dry. We didnt finish it. For the money you pay to eat here, I would say it wasn't really worth it.
Consistently delicious food & comfortable space. Terrific location. My teenage daughter and her friend loved it here....amazing
Had a wonderful Easter Brunch at the Redeye Grill with friends and family. Within our dining party was a pre-teen and a teenager and both were thrilled with the Easter candies set out in the table when we arrived. The never ending Mimosas and Bellinis were a huge hit and the brunch items were yummy. The best part of the whole meal was when they plopped a massive pink cotton candy plate in the middle of the table. I thought the kids had died and gone to heaven. It was a truly wonderful Easter brunch and I felt the restaurant took extra care to make it special for everyone. I will definitely be going back and will be highly recommending the place to everyone.
We dined here about 29 years ago and it was as good as I remembered. Desmond, the piano player and singer, was fantastic!
First trip to New York, this restaurant provided the BEST food, sevice and ambiance from any other restaurant we dined with during our stay. THANK YOU for a great anniversary dinner!
I made a reservation for my family of 5 at the Redeye Grill - 4 adults and 1 teenager. The table we had was perfect, as was the food. I think the server was the consummate professional, but not that friendly - not a big deal. But, I personally like a little bit more warmth in communication.
The food was great! The meal with 1 cocktail for one person was about $325. Only a couple of us had appetizers and desserts. So, the prices were consistent with what I expected from this restaurant.
I would definitely go again.
Outstanding service and good.
Had a great dinner here! Alton was a fantastic waiter! The manager came by a few times to check on us as well, very professional and kind. They seated us right away next to the window just where we wanted. Food was awesome, steak was exactly how I wanted it, fries were delicious. Would definitely go back.
Solid choice for out of town visit. Great service. Food was good quality and plenty of variety.
