Fifty feet from Carnegie Hall, near Central Park and convenient to all midtown hotels, the Redeye takes its name from the infamous late-night flight linking America's two cultural hubs. The flavors of the two coasts are fused in both the grand cafe's interior design and the bold New American menu.
Redeye Grill Ratings and Reviews
Our first time at the restaurant for lunch. The hostesses were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Our server, however, was terrible. We waited for him to take our order, we waited for him to refill our “bottomless” drinks, we waited for him to check on our order, and we waited for the bill. He was visible on the other side of the room talking to other servers who were diligently serving their tables. Three tables who entered after us were served first and left before we did. It was disappointing.
Great food, wonderful service and beautiful ambiance. This is the second time we have eaten there, last year for my birthday and this year for our anniversary. It’s my husbands favorite NYC restaurant. Lobster and steaks are fantastic. Ambiance was perfect and we really enjoyed the live music. Service is top notch. We will be back every time we visit NYC!
We reserved this restaurant on the morning of our dinner which made us very happy as it had just been recommended to us. The menu was substantial with great selections for meat, fish and pasta lovers. Quality of food was very good. Service was efficient, friendly and when we told our waiter that one of our party was celebrating a birthday they brought a special complimentary desert with candles and even sang to her! They also brought us a plate of candy cotton! Very good value for money. Drinks menu was also excellent! We were visiting from Dublin and will be back! Thank you!
Calamari was fresh and hot. Whiskey was strong. Salad was large. I ordered sea bass. Sea bass was served by its self. Nothing else on the plate. Chocolate cake was moist. Portions were large. From start to finish was over 1 hour. Real table clothes. Kinda place you sit down. Overall happy and satisfied.
Found through Open Table and it was a hit. Went both nights during our our post Christmas visit to NYC with wife and teenage son. Food/Service was outstanding. Great ambiance and energy. Got in and out as quickly as needed for our Theater event. Will likely be our new "go to" restaurant.
Disappointing meal at Redeye Grill on Boxing Day. Have been there before, but was let down, by the food and service. Could not seem to accommodate my daughter's gluten free diet was disappointing. Shrimp as part of the Crab cake and shrimp was meely soft. Place was busy, but it seems they were not up to the challenge at 5 PM!!!!
Excellent on all fours- food, service, ambiance, noise level and value( okay on all fives). The price fixed is a good value with large portions. Highly recommend , especially for Carnegie Hall location. The sea bass was very good and the chocolate cake delicious and enough for 2.definitely the go to place when attending Carnegie Hall
Have been here several times and it's always EXCELLENT! Hosted a friend's birthday there on Christmas Eve and from the Hostess to the waitstaff, the service in recognition of her birthday was stellar!! I'm going to celebrate every friend's birthday there from now on! And the food is great!!
Selected Redeye Grill for Christmas Eve and I am so happy I did. Had early reservation with my husband because we were going to Carnegie Hall right across the street. When we arrived we were greeted promptly by a friendly hostess. The restaurant is large and since we were early it was relaively quiet. It did fill up and every table was taken by the time we finished. Even so the noise level was fine for conversation. There is a great selection of specialty cocktails and I selected the mule with fresh berries which was delicious We shared a guacamole and it was excellent. Chunks of avocado and just the right amount of cilantro. Main course was a sauted scallop entree with roasted cauliflower. Also very good. We elected not to have dessert but looking around we saw some dinners enjoying hugh slices of choclate cake. The manager also came around with a choice of freshly baked cookies. We noticed that the staff was exceptional and also the manager was helping them out on a very busy night instead of standing around and watching. This made an impression on us. As an extra bonus the live music was provided by a pianist with a beautiful voice..All in all we had a wonderful dining experience and would definitely recommend and return!
We are from the DC area and when we came to NY a couple years ago we just happened upon the Red Eye and had a fantastic experience. Now we return whenever we are back in town. The food is delicious, the live music is a treat, and the wait staff is excellent
We have always made Red Eye Grill as our destination restaurant when we visit NYC. This visit was very disappointing. The food, which is normally outstanding, was not up to their normal standards...the sea bass was dry and the black cod was very salty.
The live music was good but very loud. We were looking for more ambiance, conducive to having dinner conversations. Obviously, that was difficult.
As a result, I doubt we will not be returning in the near future.
