My daughter and I ate here during a special getaway weekend. I was given a glass of prosecco while we waited for our table. We were given a table that was near a bright light and we asked to be moved. They moved us, no problem. Food was delicious. Waiter was slow to check on us, but may that was due to us moving tables. Would definitely come back.

We had a fabulous dinner here. The clam chowder and salads were delicious. The Cod and Filet were excellent. The service was first rate! They also had a piano player and singer for evening entertainment who were incredible. Overall a great night

I’ve been here a few times andnots always the same thing. Excellent service, the varied and delicious menu (especially the lobster Mac and cheese), a knowledgeable and friendly bartender and staff and friendly atmosphere. It’s always nice to be greeted at a restaurant by the matee’d who says hi with a friendly handshake. Definitely deserves a try or a repeat visit.

My wife and I ate lunch there during a leisure visit to New York. Everything was great - food and service - and prices weren’t bad for midtown Manhattan.

Very nice host who couldn’t be nicer when I had to sit 30 min at the bar waiting for a table even though I had a OT resv. . But a very unfriendly waiter who made us finally walk out before we ate because he took another 30 minutes to take our order and was rude when we asked to have vegetables instead of French fries because of a gluten allergy. Overall very very unpleasant experience!!

Made reservation months in advance requesting a booth by window and called at 5:00 to confirm was told we were all set. Upon arrival were seated at a horrible table crushed against a wooden corner. Was moved but not without complaining. Food is overpriced which I wouldn't mind if it was amazing which it wasn't. $39 for sea bass with no sides, $59 prime rib was unremarkable. Wine priced at $23. Per Glass!! Server seemed rushed and never checked on us. Server told us we had a five min walk to theatre which was really more like 20 so we ended up arriving 15 min late to the theatre. What was supposed to be a special night felt very disappointing. Bathrooms were a mess! Used to be my "go to". Restaurant in NYC but has really changed.

Great reception from the front of the house. Waiter was very personable but it tool 2 hours to get our meal and we were on a time constraint. My suggestion would be to allow plenty of time if you have a time constraint. Overall so worth it!

We had a early dinner after a matinee on Saturday. The food was amazing. The service was very quick and attentive. When my husband mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday the staff went out of there way to put a sparkler on my desert and sing a very fun rendition of "Happy Birthday to a perfect stranger" to make me feel special. I loved it.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the nicest host and hostess. They made us feel completely welcome, and we knew we were in for a treat! It was my husband's birthday, and they sat us next to the window at a circle table sprinkled with a little bit of birthday confetti-- this touch made his night extra special.

The rest of our night matched the attention to detail that we experienced when we first walked in. Our server was very knowledgeable about the different entrees on the menu, and even though he was very busy, he still made sure to spend time at our table to make nice conversation. The staff was all kind and attentive, as well!

The live music was excellent and added to the ambiance. The bar scene is casual, but still present. I enjoy that, even though we were sitting at a table. It was evident that this was the place to be. We are so happy we dined with Redeye Grill!

We had so much fun with the hostess, serving staff other than our actual waiter who was aloof and unfriendly, and the musicians. It's unfortunate that our waiter was a dud as the meal was delicious, ambiance wonderful and the piano player and singer were perfect!

The best thing about Redeye is the live music by far. My three times there they had a female singer and a piano player who also sang. They are pretty good and we've enjoyed that the most. The first two visits we enjoyed the food more. Each time I get the Ribeye but this time is had way too much fat on it. Probably 25% I had to cut away. The mashed potatoes were tasteless. The waiter just did not seem that interested in serving us. The crab cake salad was delicious but for $32 it was only one small piece and mostly avocado. Also we were still eating the appetizer when they plopped the steaks in front of us. Aside from the music which was great, I was very disappointed. My wife love coming because of the music. Next time, if there is one, I will be more intentional about everything I order and when I want it. I am looking for other venues that give similar live music and better food service.

Pre-theatre meal. Greeted warmly by host. Server attentive initially.
As it got busier, noise level increased, server wasn’t around much, and piano music/singing started from the bar. Personally I found the music to be loud and intrusive for dining.
It wasn’t relaxing so we left after our entrees.
Food was good, not great. I asked for a recommendation of a glass of wine and he suggested the Sauvignon Blanc, didn’t say where it was from, or describe how it would complement my entree. Not very impressed.

My husband and I had eaten at Red Eye Grill a year ago. We are pescatarian and were disapppointed in the limited fish and seafood selection plus that there is no longer the large crab cake but a small one with four pieces of shrimp. Service was excellent.

Before City Center. Was surprised to get e-mail next day from Open Table saying I did not honor reservation as I had checked in with hostess upon arrival was shown to table and had dinner!

Started with Caesar salad which was quite tasty but afterwards couldn't remember seeing any parmesan? Then had crab cake with shrimp. One smallish crab cake and 4 jumbo shrimp which weren't all that jumbo after dissection process of removing head, tail, and legs!

Service adequate. A bit pricey for what it was but restaurant is well situated for Carnegie Hall, City Center, Central Park, Rock Center so....

Chocolate chip cookie offered out of oven on baking sheet a nice touch...

Redeye Grill is a consistently good spot, especially for pre-theater. With a 6:00 reservation and a 7:30 curtain, there was plenty of time for a pleasant, not at all 'rushed' meal. The staff here is extremely well 'drilled' when it comes to diners who are going on to a show, but still making you feel like you were dining and not simply having something to eat before your event. The fried calamari appetizer was easily enough for two and the martinis were excellent. My only complaint would be the tarragon that topped our lobster rolls. Who puts tarragon on a lobster roll??? The fries were perfectly done and quite a generous portion. Major problem with this restaurant is the noise level. Try to sit in the 'greenhouse' room in the front, or well to the back if you want to hear your fellow diner speaking to you!

Each time we visit NYC we go to the Redeye Grill as our special dining experience. They never disappoint. From service to dessert, they do an outstanding job. It's an especially nice gesture that they bring fresh from the oven breads and cookies around to the tables.

Terrible. The hosts avoided us several times when we asked about our reservation after seeing them seat several parties before us after our reservation time. We were even told that we can eat at the bar since they could not seat us for our reservation until 30-45 mins after we checked in. Unfortunately the service did not make up for the horrible greeting. I’ve been to this restaurant several time and wanted to take my mom for her birthday. It was such a disappointing night. Terrible
