This is a beautiful place near carnegie hall and other theater organizations. The food is good but expensive. You are paying for location and proximity. If that is okay, then this is an excellent choice.
We enjoyed a table in the lounge with a terrific pianist/vocalist. Service was a little weird, as if we didn’t really have a specific server….but if we brought our needs to anyone’s attention, that person was right on it. Convenient to the Manhattan Club, across the street, with food and drink benefits for staying there, too!
Seated 30 mins late - ordered right away, appetizers came and no meals for over an hour / we finally told them never mind and poof our meals appeared!! We ordered the thanksgiving dinner so you know they prepare……manager came and apologized but we’re never coming back….
Thanksgiving dinner—family enjoyed very nice prefix menu.
Way overpriced for the quality of food. Service was good. No children’s menu. Had to order regular entrees for a 4 and 6 year old. Too expensive
We enjoyed a wonderful meal and the service was outstanding. Three of us ordered sushi and it was very fresh and beautifully displayed. We even asked for a custom-made cocktail with cucumber and elderflower liquor and they were so accomodating and the bartender nailed it! The grand room was beautiful with high ceilings and interesting decor. Didn't know what to expect but we enjoyed a delicious and lovely family meal just blocks away from our hotel.
Our server, Dominiqu, was amazing. Super attentive, funny and on top of it for our dinner. The food was amazing as always. Fantastic Dover sole. Everyone loved their meals. Perfect martinis by the bartender.
Red Eye Grill has been around for over 20 years and I have visited numerous times. There was a time that the food was great, expensive, wait service ok and you couldn't get in without a reservation. I always thought the food was pretty good until this past Sunday's dinner. Highly expensive and the seafood tasted old!!!! Wait staff was excellent. They no longer serve bread, instead its offered on the menu. Really?? They also culled the menu down quite a bit. No reservation was necessary since the establish was more or less empty. It may be as a result of economics/Pandemic why the place has gone downhill. The spark is gone and I will not be returning......Sad.
The food choices are excellent and offered a range of good options for brunch, lunch and dinner. The service was also very good. Very attentive wait staff. They did not rush you, but were ready to check us out so we could attend the play.
Ate mid afternoon on a Saturday. Shared a $24 cheeseburger. It was very good. Glass of wine was $17 for nothing special. Nice place. Prob would find dinner more enjoyable w a larger menu.
Excellent food and service. They seemed sincerely happy we were there.
Food is fantastic and the service is excellent. It is an experience.
To start the evening off in the wrong direction, we were put at a small table by the door and the hostess station. Very uncomfortable table. The coconut shrimp were beautifully presented but they were very dry and nothing special! This was a let down since this is their signature desk. The filet was excellent and wonderful onion rings. Our waiter was good but possibly had too many tables. The ambiance and music were lovely. Qith all that said,, I probably would not go back.
Food, service and ambience were all outstanding.
Booked for my husband’s birthday meal with the children. I was worried it might not be right for our kids who are 6 and 10, but we were made to feel really welcome and there were some lovely touches.
The food was good and the location even better!
The finishing touch was when the hostess came to each table with homemade warm chocolate chip cookies
Unfortunately the food has really slipped from what it used to be. Service was confused to say the least and we were early so it was far from crowded. Sad ... used to be a great place!
Great prix-fix lunch pre-theater. Wonderful selection and was able to make everyone of our party of six happy!
The menu is seafood focused and it’s ok but insanely overpriced for what you get
Service is excellent
And the location is great
But the food is only so so and the prices are astronomical even by nyc standards
Great experience overall. Excellent staff attentive server great food. Enjoyed leaving a healthy tip for our fine waiter.
Been here a long time and still good. Live music on weekends is a plus.
The meal was delicious! We ordered the Branzino, garlic bread and the dancing shrimp. We shared everything, and it was a perfect amount. The meal was expensive, but each item was specially prepared and served with care. The dancing shrimp comes with chunks of pineapple on skewers and three different sauces. We dined on a Saturday night and enjoyed the live entertainment. We were disappointed that the outside seating was partially covered and not heated, but we were given seats in the front as close to the door as possible. The noise level is pretty high, but not unbearable. The waiter lifted his mask so we could hear his comments. There was social distancing and vaccination cards required. Overall good time!
What a wonderful evening we had. From start to finish not a thing was out of order. Great food, wonderful service and great atmosphere. We will be back.
Can’t wait for our next opportunity to dine at Redeye Grill.
Awesome service at front and at table. Made you feel great
Food was great, service was excellent. Would definitely go back.
Very nice restaurant, and we had a really nice waitress. The staff is short right now, so the wait time was longer than we would have liked.
Everyone was super welcoming and genuine. Blueberry Mule is highly recommended!!
We dine here often. Food ver fresh and flavorful. Staff very attentive. Pleasant decor.
Really good menu with nice variety. Good is very good as is the service and they can handle larger parties without cramming 8 people at a table meant for 6. Food was excellent and really glad they are open again.
Very very very nice people, however; food was very expensive and not all that good. If i was feeling like blowing money i would dine there again
Been to the REG many times before. This is the first time in NYC since Covid-19, and it was just as good as ever. The Maitre D was terrific and out waiter was exceptional.
Upon arrival (5pm) and being seated, our waiter asked which show we were seeing and what time it started (7pm). He assured us that we could relax and he would have us out in time. My wife had the filet mignon and it was delicious. I asked for a strip steak cooked a very particular way, no just medium or well, but charred on the outside and medium in the center. It was cooked to perfection and was wonderful. We shared an order of charred asparagus, and that was good also. Did not order dessert, we save that for after the show. Not our first time there, but our most enjoyable. We will definitely be back.
Lovely restaurant, great food, wonderful wine selection to celebrate finishing the NYC Marathon. Our waiter was top notch and my wife wanted to adopt him. I appreciated the champagne at the end with the congrats from the restaurant to finish the celebration with my family. Thank you Redeye Grill!
Fabulous food and service!
This is a good place to book reservations the week you're going to Carnegie Hall (it's right across the avenue). However, don't expect large entree portions. If you're really hungry, order an appetizer and/or a salad as well as your entree. A nod to the service: quite good. And the desserts are BIG, so if a small entree and a big dessert fills you up, you will do well here. It's a big barn-sized place with a lot of noise and a piano bar on the side, so if you like upbeat and noisy, this is your place. But don't go here for an intimate romantic evening -- unless your idea of intimate is raising your voice to be heard.
The Dover Sole was very good. The banana pie was excellent!
Food was great, drinks delightful, service incredible! A great place to go before Carnegie Hall
The service and the dining were great. Highly recommend the beautifully plated guacamole. Sushi choices are goo, too. But remember you’re not in a Japanese restaurant ... The waiter was personable and when they didn’t have the drink I ordered he provided me with a lovely glass of bubbly. Quite charming.
