Skip the flying shrimp! Very messy and dried out, crab cakes were very good!
After being closed many months for renovation I was looking forward to returning. The food and service seemed a notch below what I recalled. It wasn’t bad, just typical for a midtown restaurant IMO. Perhaps they haven’t quite hit their stride so I will return since I’m sure they’ll be back to 4 stars soon. Favorite dish of evening was Brussels Sprouts.
It was our first time dining at the Redeye Grill since their renovation, and we were impressed! Being Carnegie Hall subscribers, we have four local “go to” restaurants which we dine at pre/post theater. The Redeye was good, but now it is much better! Wonderful beef bourguignon, excellent bronzino (according to my wife), excellent service and a half a block from Carnegie Hall. What could be better? An excellent dinner with cocktails in New York City for $160.00. Simply amazing. Highly recommend.
A beautiful spot for dinner. I had the beef Bourgogne and it melted in your mouth. My wife’s dancing shrimp were a little over done and stuck to the stick. Meal arrived a little cold and tables were incredibly close together if you went as a couple. As a group of 4 or more it was fine. Service was outstanding
The food is good and is priced for the area more so than for what you’re getting. This is fine if you know what to expect; Redeye is a reliable place with a varied menu. Servers are attentive and happily exchanged a glass of wine for my friend who didn’t like what she got.
Always a wonderful welcome Richard. Allergies attended too. Hoping Carnegie or city center. This is the best in the neighborhood pianist/singer in lounge is wonderful
It’s always a great night when you can find parking right nearby. I knew it would be a good night. Service was great.
This restaurant needs to fix its front desk people. The food was great. My steak was cooked to perfection. The wait staff was really on the ball. The problem was our seating. The restaurant was mostly empty when we entered. We had a reservation but they seated us at a table near a work station. I asked for a booth but was told the booths were only for parties larger than four. After we were seated they promptly sat a party of four at a booth. Next time I am in the area I will be looking for a different restaurant.
The service was excellent. There was confusion about whether sushi was available for a Saturday afternoon meal. The restaurant should make it clear that the brunch menu is available on weekend afternoons.
A good place for brunch in the West 50's. We were very warmly welcomed and the host
went out of his way to find a good table for us. All the staff was friendly and attentive.
It was our first visit, and we will return.
Food was wonderful, service was fantastic. Very nice for an evening out. It happened to be next door to our hotel, but it is worth traveling to visit. There was also live music that was very good. Really enjoyed our dinner.
Excellent service. Great food. Treated like a valued customer
Beautiful restaurant. We ordered from the Brooklyn Diner pop-up menu. Very welcoming to family.
Great for brunch. Wonderful atmosphere, service and food. We ordered from the pop up Brooklyn Diner menu, which included coffee and juice. It was really great. We had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, which was really excellent. We'll be going back for sure.
The wait staff was a little weird, but the food was good overall
Good service. Friendly and professional waited. Good menu choices. Highly recommend.
Excellent service & food for lunch with family & friends!
It new decoration is wonderful...the space is open and welcoming....
Wow! How this restaurant has fallen from grace!! I always included a trip there when I visited NY. I'll not be back. We had a 2 pm reservation--and the restaurant was not crowded (no excuses). When shown to our table, I had to move the crumbs off the chair before sitting down. The service was terrible--had to ask two waiters for a serving spoon for the creamed spinach and then gave up and used our forks! I ordered fried onion rings that were tired at best; they were not fresh. Must say that the steak was excellent and cooked to order. Wow. soooo disappointing. What used to be their distinction is now their glaring error--excellent service and thoughtful, well-prepared food. Won't be back.
Surly waiter. Asked for bread 4 times and finally got 4 pieces of white toast. Calamari was very salty and other food [burgers, etc.] tasted like they were made from frozen patties. Atmosphere very nice but drinks very overpriced and food very mediocre
Food was below average. Salad was wilted as if it had been sitting in a bowl in refrige for hours. Dressing had no taste. Bread was good. Steak was good ( small Sirloin), but nothing fabulous. Fries not good. Clam chowder not great. Salad not great.
The restaurant was decorated with interesting artwork. The service was great. The food was great. I had ordered a filet mignon that was a little tough. I'm sure it happens, but I would definitely go back and try another one.
We were welcomed and seated promptly. Their sushi burger was very yummy. Do not forget to try their complementary pistachio chocolates. Would definitely recommend the place for a special occasion.
Overall the dining experience was pleasant although at times the noise level was extremely annoying. Sadly I guess that’s the evening plight of all Manhattan restaurants nowadays. One final point, given the the ‘MeToo’ and ‘TimesUp” movements... is that 10-foot statue of a woman opening a bottle of wine between her legs really necessary? Would Rotisserie Georgette, Nobu57, The Modern or Gotham Bar & Grill ever have such a display? Anyway Redeye Grill still remains a favorite restaurant because of its overall ambiance and location... I've been a regular at Redeye for about 15+ years and was so glad that it finally re-opened after the fire. However, I was disappointed that on a Sunday evening at 6:15 pm in a room that wasn't completely full, my request for a table near the window hadn't been honored (I know there's no guarantee) and my entree was delivered before I finished my appetizer.
Although our server was very friendly I waited 30 minutes to get the glass of wine I ordered. We did not get bread at the table until we asked for it twice and 45 minutes after we arrived. We waited an hour for our appetizer. Our food was at best mediocre. The shrimp tempura roll did not taste fresh. The lettuce in our salads was wilted. I ordered my salmon medium rare and it was served well done. No one came over to ask us how we liked our food. Very very disappointed.
I make a point to dine here every time I’m in NYC. I really enjoy the live music. The service and food is excellent on every visit!!
Had a delightful dinner. Food and service both excellent. The newly refurbished room is beautiful.
They need more waiters. I will try once more & see if any improvement
Hadn't been to this restaurant in years. And after the experience I had, it will be many more years, or
never, that I return. The restaurant was almost empty, it was a Monday night, and the service was TERRIBLE. Had a 7pm reservation and was through at 9:45?????? Food was mediocre at best and when paired with the exorbitant prices, its not worth your time, your money, or your tastebuds. Stay away.
So glad this place opened its doors again! Lovely ambiance and albeit a reduced Menu, all we chose to eat was wonderful! The lobster mac & cheese is really good. Salads are great too. Wonderful cocktails and wine selections. Our server was alright - he was not paying sufficient attention to our table, so on one occasion we had to get up and serve our own wine. In addition, it was difficult to get his attention when needed. Not the service we're used to here, so we'll try it again.
Food was bad.
Great food, sat outside and enjoyed a nice evening in New York weather wise for October. Destiny was our server, fantastic, attentive. Several people stopped by our table checking to ensure everything was to our liking. Food was great, the dancing shrimp is a must, I had it as my entree. Banana cream pie is incredible as well. You won't be sorry if you go.
We had been there before. Nothing special
Service was slow - I think the kitchen was shorthanded - our waiter did his best with our table of 7...
Regarding the food - I think most everyone was satisfied, but I had one of the "house specialities" - beef bourguignon - and it was relatively tasteless with very little sauce. Maybe an off night. We were celebrating a birthday, however, and the birthday girl had a great time.
What a great place!!! We were greeted with a glass of champagne. Food was great and service awesome!
The food and service were excellent! I would definitely come back when I visit NYC again.
We love going there for lunch and dinner. It’s beautiful and has a great menu. The food is delicious but the service could be better. Once you order they forget about you. It’s a great place to go if your not in a rush.
