Excellent food and service. Redeye Grill is a real neighborhood gem. Highly recommend
We've been dining at Redeye forever. It was always worth the splurge. Something changed since our last visit there. We were a party of 6 adults, and 2 of us couldn't even eat our meals. My hamburger was ordered medium and it arrived so overcooked it was inedible, on a cold hard bun. The fries tasted as though they were leftover from yesterday. The chicken cutlet was likewise so dry it was inedible. Crab cake eggs Benedict was only 1 crab cake for the 2 eggs. The server never stopped by to check on our table. Finally we called over the manager and complained to him. He did the right thing and removed the 2 entrees from our bill. But still.........we won't be returning to Redeye again in the near future.
Atmosphere was nice- but took quite a while for the food to come out- and I didn’t love what I got either. Nothing terribly wrong- just wasn’t great.
Server was rude
Definitely three star. Had the Moscow mule, it was overflowing with ice, not sure how they get away calling it a Moscow mule. Dinner salad was ok. No normal dressing, their dressing was ok, a bit tart. The sea bass was the best part of the meal. The Brussel sprouts were drenched and only the middle was edible. Overall not pleased with my last dinner in NYC.
This has been our go-to place for an early pre-theater dinner. This visit preceded West Side Story. The dinner was better.
Food used to be much better. Cobb Salad was lacking dressing and had no hard-boiled egg, as it previously did. Banana cream pie was almost as good as previously but not much custard. Very enjoyable atmosphere but the food as definitely declined.
Service was very good however the food quality was disappointing. I had the Dancing Shrimp which was overcooked. The ribeye was overcooked as well and very fatty.
This is a beautiful place to have a wonderful dinner
Went for a pre-theater meal at Redeye Grill. Tremendous spot. Great atmosphere and very nice venue. I got the Sushi Burger because it caught my eye and was very unique. It did not disappoint and was very tasty. My party also go the Beef Bourguignon, which was excellent as well! Would definitely go back for a another meal.
Excellent Service. Lobster Mac and cheese was very good.
It was wonderful as always
Always reliably good
great variety of food too
Love the remodeled look
Sushi was amazing. Kitchen had an off night. One meal was really late and on steak was extremely rare (ordered medium).
I liked this restaurant, didn’t love it. It was a great find after a show and not too far of a walk. The decor is great, lively, and full. Check in was easy and they showed us our table promptly. Food was good and plentiful, many people get the dancing shrimp which they advertise widely. For the price and quality, I feel like I could have found a different restaurant. For example, we ordered the shrimp tempura as a starter and it was nothing more than you would get at your local sushi place, but this was 3x the price. I enjoyed the experience but food quality vs price was not at the level I was expecting.
Atmosphere, drinks, food and Service was excellent
We were seated in the back room wvlhich they say us new. Nice and quiet. Thanks for the spice jar and free chocolate. We had a lovely evening
We expected anywhere on NYC to be busy this time of year, so slower service was expected. Food was very good. Service OK. Tables way to close together, felt uncomfortably close to our neighbors. Had to move the table just to be seated!
Not nearly as good as before it closed.
The service was abysmal and slow. My family and I were there pre-theatre, and we made the waiter aware. It took forever to order, we were barely checked on for drinks or anything else. We ordered bottles of wine, which they insisted on pouring, and kept away from the table, but no one ever returned to refill glasses. We politely brought the issues to a manager’s attention, but nothing got better even after they promised it would. Items on our order never came out after repeated requests. No one who worked there seemed to be communicating with anyone else.
I have been here many times before for business lunches, but I will now never return. We had a 5:45 reservation and were late for our 8 pm show.
This was our first time in the Redeye Grill since the fire. The service was excellent.
Two of the three sushi rolls we had were excellent — the salmon and cream cheese roll and the rainbow roll. The “spicy” tuna roll was quite bland, unfortunately.
Also, the soy sauce was served already poured into small dishes. This made it nearly impossible to blend the wasabi paste smoothly into the soy sauce. In addition, the shape of the soy sauce dishes made dipping the sushi a bit awkward.
The decorations in the restaurant are very nice, and the seating is comfortable — not overly crowded. The noise level was a bit higher than we might have liked, but normal conversation was not any problem at all.
Food is still very good, but it’s just a little tired. Needs a jumpstart. Too many tourists and not enough locals. Too many “women if a certain age”. And I’m one of them.
The food was OK, not outstanding, but the service was not. It was not very crowded yet we had to wait for everything. We were told by the waitress she would get to it when she finished with the other table yet that did not happen. Coffee cold and hot coffee did not reappear until it was time for us to run to the theater for a show.
Honestly, I rarely write reviews, especially poor ones but with this restaurant which I had eaten at and enjoyed many times prior to it’s closing and recent reopening, I was expecting far better. I will not return soon.
We enjoyed our Christmas meal. The food was delicious!!! Loved it all. The only thing I would say is they don’t need to rave about their “dancing shrimp” it’s not that great. Everything else was divine!!!
I would recommend due to location. Went for brunch on 12/15. They were unprepared apparently for Holiday crowds. I arrived for my reservation, said my guests may have already arrived, was being led to table in back when my friend approached and led me to the table where they were seated in window, having given reservation when arrived. Immediately approached for order, said we needed a minute. Mistake, long wait to flag down wait person again. Placed drinks, wine bottle and food order all at same time. Long waits. Food not hot, all egg dishes, but if didn't eat then would be there for dinner!
Food tasty but at the prices I would have expected more than one small crab cake with my crab cake benedict and more Hollandaise especially as it was not hot, thus not liquid!
The service, as always, was outstanding. Our meals were excellent! It was a really nice quiet dinner amid the hustle and bustle of a holiday!
Used to like this place a lot. They closed and can’t figure out what changes were made except for the menu. My husband and I thought the food was awful. We will not return. So disappointing! Convenient for Carnegie Hall but rather miss a meal than eat there. I almost never write reviews but I really felt so strongly about the negative change in menu and food itself.
Excellent food and great overall service and atmosphere!! Spent the evening celebrating the holidays with family! Would definitely come back!
Wonderful as always!
Our waiter was terrific. The chicken and the lobster salads were delicious.
My husband had the burger and said it was the best in the city.
We loved the cotton candy, a great touch.
Disappointed in one of my old favorites.
The waiter was pleasant and seldom present.
The delivery of the meal included a surly restaurant worker who cast a negative feel on the evening.
The much touted shrimp are not worthy of the establishment's reputation.
The oysters were delicious, however some were so very small as to make it rude that the restaurant had included them on any plate to be purchased.
The duck quesadilla was really good.
In spite of the coat check numbers attached to our items, the staff confused our coats with other patrons sending one of our party into coat check to retrieve his.
So.....not the best evening at Redeye Grill, unfortunately.
Very slow service from kitchen
Fun place. Had to wait awhile to sit but it was mid December around the holidays. However by the time we were seated, it was 2 minutes after brunch buffet closed. Prefer lunch here than breakfast.
The food is not good - more so for the price. One large pancake was $20. The breakfast buffet was $24 so a few of us did that for the price difference...but the quality of the food was awful. Eggs Benedict were hard boiled, scrambled eggs runny, sausage hard and overly seasoned, no yogurt, very limited variety of fruit and did not taste fresh, cheap cereal and toast. Really disappointed bc the atmosphere is fun for breakfast/brunch.
Birthday celebration with friends.
The experience was a disaster but the manager did try and make it right which will explain my ratings.
We were really looking forward to eating there from multiple friends telling me about it. We got there about 10 minutes before our reservation and about 20 minutes later we were being seated. In the middle of starting to get settled, we were told there was a mistake and our table wasn't ready yet. We then waited another 15 minutes until our table was ready. After 10 minutes a waiter came over and LITERALLY didn't say a word. After the longest 7 or 8 seconds of my life, I awkwardly said hello and he asked if he could take our order. No name, no if we needed drinks, nothing. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and some sushi. We didn't receive our food for 15-20 minutes...Still no drinks or water! At this point, we were checked out and decided to go somewhere else for dinner. We did eat most of what we ordered (we got the settings for sushi but never got any soy sauce, lol) and asked someone to get us the check. Our waiter then came and asked if we wanted dinner and said no and he came back with the check. We put our credit card in to pay and a gentleman (I assume at least a manager if not a GM) came and asked about things. We gave him less than a 30-second overview and he apologized for everything and said he knows that things had gotten away from them all night. He handed back the credit card, took the check and asked us numerous times to please come back and give them another opportunity.
We would have obviously prefered for everything to be normal and have paid our bill but as someone who dines out most days and nights, I appreciated the emphatic manner in how he handled the matter and just swiped the check as opposed to trying to give us a discount of some sort for a ruined dinner.
Hw will be the reason we go back to try them again because even though we were paying all of it and not going back, a 50% discount off the bill would not have been enough for my return.
We had such a lovely time. The cotton candy, the service of the waiters ( two of the waiters took care of us) and made our experience so special. I also have to say the General manager made my friend's daughter and her mother feel so special. Her 14year old daughter was performing at Carnegie Hall and it set the mood for memories that she will keep for a lifetime. Thank you again.
We were looking forward to the re-opening the RedEye but were disappointed to find out our loved Cobb Salad with chicken was nothing like it used to be. It is significantly smaller and very different. We ate dinner at the bar, however, the bartenders seemed more concerned about loading the dishwasher and organizing the bar than waiting on customers. We have always looked forward to dining at RedEye when in Manhattan but not sure that is the case any longer.
Great dinner...good service....perfect for a pre-show dinner at Carnegie Hall....we'll be back to try some of the other dishes on the menu.
