REDD, which opened its doors in November 2005, is the first venture from acclaimed Northern California chef Richard Reddington, who offers an updated interpretation of wine country cuisine in a decidedly relaxed environment. REDD reflects the passions of a serious chef who, after 15 years in some of the best kitchens in the United States and Europe, has found the perfect balance of serious food and unpretentious ambiance. "With Redd, I've created the type of restaurant that I like to spend time at--an inviting place that serves creative food and thoughtfully chosen wines in a relaxed, but elegant, contemporary space." Drawing from his classic French and Mediterranean sensibilities, chef Reddington has created a cuisine that combines flavors and textures that match well with local wines. REDD’S menu showcases regionally inspired seasonal selections with ethnic influences. A daily 5 course chef’s tasting menu is also available in addition to the regular menu.

Redd Ratings and Reviews
Love those pillows of deliciousness -- otherwise known as your gnocchi. Redd never disappoints with its hospitality, inventiveness and ongoing quality. Our first night we had a reservation. Our third night, we cancelled a reservation at another Yountville establishment in order to sit in the bar and have another delicious meal. We look forward to returning to Redd on a subsequent trip -- and we also enjoyed a more casual meal at Reddwood.
My husband and I are spending a few days in Napa. Redd was recommend by a friend and did not disappoint. We were seated upon arrival in the patio. Our waiter promptly greeted us and was really knowledgeable about the menu. We brought our wine with no issue. I had the scallops as my main course. They literally melted in my mouth. A meal we will not soon forget. Highly recommend.
The food at REDD was pretty good. The pace was too slow but our waiter knew this and kept apologizing. The wine list was very pretentious and not sure who they are trying to impress with it. It is our experience that there are plenty of fabulous wines in the Napa valley that are less than $100 a bottle.
Redd was a delight for brunch. A very creative menu from steamed pork buns to the best pancakes in the world to steamed skate. A menu for all meals.
We loved this experience.
Food fabulous. Service outstanding. Good cocktails.
We had pancakes, eggs and bacon, salmon and hamachi sashimi. And they served a bonus of chicken wings. Tasty Tasty.
I loved the environment too, Nice tablecloths. Very low noise level and appealing decor.
Would definitely return.
We went to Redd last year in June and loved the food and service. Since we decided to come out to Napa again this year we knew Redd was a must. Redd did not take reservations until 60 days in advance on OpenTable. Since I booked our trip well in advance I kept an eye on when OpenTable was available to book Redd. The first morning it was available I saw reservations for 6:30 and 8:30 and not the 7:30 time I wanted based on our already booked wine tasting schedule. So I booked 6:30 on OpenTable. I called them later that night 60 days ago and they said 7:30 was available and they would change my reservation to 7:30.
I didn't think anything of it until I received the phone call yesterday confirming my reservation of 6:30. I told them I changed it to 7:30 2 months ago and they said they had no record of it. We decided to let it to go and cancel one of our planned wine tastings today and eat at 6:30. The food and service was very good tonight. After dinner I decided to talk to the manager and share my feelings with him. He completely dismissed me and his response was " I'll take notes and make sure this doesn't happen again." After being treated like that even though the food is great I will never go back there again. It was completely insulting the way I was treated the past two days. They have lost my business for what it is worth.
Way too loud in the restaurant, but once the table of seven next to is left I began to regain the hearing in my left ear.
Good and wine were fabulous, complemented by excellent service. We done here every time we are in the area, and Redd does not disappoint!
Thank you for another top dining experience!
Terrific food despite one ill-advised wine pairing. Wine list is VERY expensive — fewer bottles under $100 than over $900, though the $100-200 range is well represented. Getting a few different glasses with different courses is an effective way to go without driving the bill up stratospherically, but the bu-the-glass menu is limited to about eight whites and the same number of reds. That said, my wife and I had five dishes and every one of them was excellent. Not perfect overall, but a lovely place where the chef obviously cares about his or her craft, and very highly recommended for the food.
We arrived 45 minutes late to our reservation (my bad!) but were greeted very friendly and seated promptly. Food was very good (we had tuna tartare, hamachi sashimi, fig salad, glazed pork belly as starters and sole, Alaskan halibut and gnocchi for mains - all prepared very well), service was attentive but not on our faces. The dining room is a bit to sterile for my taste - hence the 4 stars on atmosphere but overall great restaurant!
We had a wonderful experience all the way around! Every dish was fantastic!! The service was excellent. Our waiter was highly intuitive to our likes and dislikes in a respectful way. This restaurant was a true delight and we can't wait to return on our next visit to Napa.
Supremely mediocre. We were excited to try Redd after hearing good things from friends, but the menu was uninspired (lettuce cups that tasted like PF Changs and a pork BBQ sandwich that could be had at any restaurant...?), the servers not very knowledgeable (didn't even know how the bread was made, no info about where the dishes were sourced etc.), and overall just not worth the hype or the price. Super disappointed!
A great place to have dinner. The menu was not overwhelming just enough to make a good decision. One major problem was the nose level, made it difficult to hear each other. If they spent a little time adding some pictures and some planters would make a big difference on the noise level.
Loved the steamed pork buns just fabulous. The smoked trout salad also very good. Everything tasted so fresh, skillfully prepared and perfectly seasoned. The patio dining option is thd way to go if weather permits. I don't live in Napa but would return to eat here again.
We could not have been treated better. We had reservations for 530 but due to travel issues we did not make it to the restaurant until 730. Despite the delay we were promptly provided a table indoors, but decided that waiting the 15 minutes to secure an outdoor table was worth the wait. We brought our own wine and somehow did not get charged a corkage fee. Cocktails were excellent. Ambience and outdoor space was lovely. Food was spot on and with excellent blend of flavors. As a former Saucier from a well known restaurant in Lyon, I was impressed. It was a wonderful romantic evening that could not have been more wonderful.
The food was fantastic. We had a late reservation so the restaurant was not all that lively which was fine by us. It probably also added to the service level which was great. The scallops were great with an unusual flavor combination and steak was like butter!
