REDD, which opened its doors in November 2005, is the first venture from acclaimed Northern California chef Richard Reddington, who offers an updated interpretation of wine country cuisine in a decidedly relaxed environment. REDD reflects the passions of a serious chef who, after 15 years in some of the best kitchens in the United States and Europe, has found the perfect balance of serious food and unpretentious ambiance. "With Redd, I've created the type of restaurant that I like to spend time at--an inviting place that serves creative food and thoughtfully chosen wines in a relaxed, but elegant, contemporary space." Drawing from his classic French and Mediterranean sensibilities, chef Reddington has created a cuisine that combines flavors and textures that match well with local wines. REDD’S menu showcases regionally inspired seasonal selections with ethnic influences. A daily 5 course chef’s tasting menu is also available in addition to the regular menu.

Redd Ratings and Reviews
This was our second time at Redd and we thoroughly enjoyed it!! Not sure why we don't go more often. We did the tasting menu for our anniversary dinner and it was amazing. The food is so fresh and has such bright but complex flavors. This is the epitome of creative, flavorful, fresh Californian cuisine.
we were there on a Monday evening in January and had a 5:30 reservation. We ordered the tasting menu for our party of 3. The waiter described a general course progression and took feedback about our likes and dislikes. Each course was excellent in preparation and taste. The tasting menu with its 5 courses should be the first choice. You will sample several of the regular menu offerings plus surprises. The service was attentive and thoughtful.
This was our first visit. We had 4 adults and a baby. We loved everything but seems like the restaurant isn't kid friendly. They don't have highchairs or booster seats available for young children. This was our only complaint. We were accommodated and they reserved a table for us and left room for the stroller for the baby.
We had tasting menu with wine pairing for our group. Food was chef's choice so we didn't know what was coming. They served 2 different dishes and wine to pair with for each course. For example the ladies had scallops and the men had mussels for appetizer. So we shared the food and we got to taste 10 different dishes and wine instead of 5. Every dish was delicious. Our favorites were the pork belly and the duck. If we come back, those would be our pick for full size. Yummy!
Service was good. We came on a Thursday and it was quiet, which we loved. Overall it was a great experience at this restaurant. However if you're planning on bringing your young children, you have to bring our own highchair or booster seat.
Ate there New Year's Eve with friends. It was absolutely wonderful. Each dish was perfectly cooked and flavored. The pate -- a light airy type with fruit and nuts -- was to die for. My duck was cooked perfectly and beautifully seasoned. Dessert was also delicious. Everything was wonderful. Good service. No complaints.
Had a wonderful lunch on the patio over the New Year holiday. The patio is spacious and lovely with the fireplace and well spaced tables - modern but warm at the same time. Our waiter and the sommelier were attentive and very helpful in explaining the menu and wine list. Started with a wonderful beet salad followed by the sole and shellfish with jasmine rice and a saffron curry broth - delicious. My friends equally loved their meals also. The staff was great and didn’t feel like we were rushed at all.
We went to Redd because we were staying a couple of nights in Yountville, CA. If it had been warmer we would have sat out on the patio with our dog as it is dog-friendly--that would have been ideal for us. As it was dark and cold, we sat inside. It was pleasant enough but the quality of the food was only fair--maybe because they were serving a large birthday party for an adult man. The noise level was energetic because of the party but that wasn't an issue since they were not obnoxious and were obviously having a good time. This is the second time we have eaten at Redd and unfortunately were not impressed with the food--the burrata was bland and the ravioli was gummy (? overcooked.) However, the dessert was delicious.
The food was impeccable. Our choices were outstanding and I would highly recommend them. The pork belly was succulent with the chicory salad as starters. For dinner the roasted chicken was cooked perfectly. The Prime NY steak with short ribs and mushroom potatoe purée was outstanding. Of course dessert was in order, s’mores.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday and our anniversary with a 5 course tasting menu. It was a quiet, and unusually warm, Sunday evening. We took full advantage of their patio and sat near the fireplace. It was a perfect setting for a delicious meal. What my husband and I love most about their tasting menu is that they will serve us two different dishes for each course, so we always share and get to try 10 different things. This time I especially loved the duck confit d the tuna tartar. And as always, the service was warm and impeccable.
Wonderful dinner tonight, Redd did not miss a beat; with the fires surrounding this magical town in the middle of the wine country for the past 2 weeks, we were finally able to get back to our ‘home away from home’ and enjoy the ambiance and unparalleled food and service at one of our very favorite restaurants walking distance from our ‘happy place’!! Food was excellent, as it usually is, & John C. Provided us with service beyond compare! So very good to be back! ❤️
I can't recall the last time I received such poor service at a restaurant. My friends and I were wildly disappointed. I can't encourage enough people to stay away as while the food is great the service ruins the entire experience.
Amazing cuisine and great wine list providing ranging price options. We absolutely loved our experience at this restaurant. We did go to Redd Wood first since the navagitation auto-filled the name of the restaurant. However, Redd is only .5 mile away from Redd Wood and there is easy street parking around the restaurant. We will definitely be back!
