Redd Wood Ratings and Reviews
Not a good night. We arrived early and the hostess told us we could sit at the bar and she would get us when table was ready. Had a few drinks and great wings. My husband later went to check on our table and was told by hostess that they couldn't find us. We eventually were seated. I then ordered a Moscow Mule and was brought a White Russian. Salad was not right either, then they brought the wrong pizza for my husband. The waiter topped off our tap water glasses with sparkling water. It just went from bad to worse. The waiter was new and didn't know the menu well. The manager apologized and comped our meal. The pizza was mediocre. No, I would not recommend this to a friend. There are many excellent dining options in Yountville, try someplace else.
Rode our bikes up the Vine Trail (fantastic!) with my wife, sister, and brother-in-law for a little exercise and good chow. They had a reservation available (OpenTable) and seated us outside as requested so we could be by our bikes. Pizzas and salads were spot on, it was a beautiful day and the restaurant scene had locals and tourists enjoying themselves. We might have been a little on the loud side, but outside no one seemed to mind. Fancy food without too much pretense, $130 after 20% tip got us enough chow for 4 hungry adults along with an adult beverage for everyone was just right. The waiter was nice and accommodating, but did seem to have a script to get through on some menu items. But we were happy with everything that arrived. One dish was taken away before we were done, but only because there wasn't much of anything left on the plate so they assumed we were done (though didn't get that we were serious when we said to leave the plate, but it was that good!).
My only issue with Reed Wood is that they sometimes have too many large noisy groups dining at the same time. We were offered a table for 3 on the front sidewalk to avoid the noise - but who wants to eat on the sidewalk?
Food is always good as is the service. But they need to consider their smaller groups when they book large ones! No one enjoys deafening noise levels!
We went for lunch on a Saturday. We ordered a mushroom pizza (the name was longer, but it was in essence a fancy mushroom pizza, and that's what the staff called it. Our waiter thought it was taking too long, so even though we hadn't expressed any concern he brought out a salad as an apology. The salad was terrific. Our pizza followed shortly and it was perfect as well. All the flavors were balanced perfectly. We tried to get in for dinner but they were already booked solid (it was a perfect weather weekend in the Napa Valley, after all.) We'd absolutely go there again. Great service and great food.
I always try to visit Redd Wood on my visits to the Valley. I cannot express enough how delighted I was with my most recent experience. It was the complete VIP treatment. The service was impeccable, the food was absolutely fresh and delicious, and the team was first class. Do not miss this restaurant! You will regret it.
We came here on vacation for a nice dinner but did not have a reservation; the hostess was very kind and asked us if we wanted to sit outside, which we did and we were able to be seated right away. The server was amazing and took very good care of us! The food was great, and portions were generous. The drink menu was extensive, from cocktails to wines to interesting beers, and we enjoyed them all. Prices were rather high, but of course you will see that throughout the region. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
food was bland and boring. server was obnoxious. pizza margherita was limp, soggy and tasteless. no texture to the crust. peach gazpacho was thick like pudding and had no flavor.
One of the worst meals we had in a long time. and very unusual for the Napa area.
A few people had recommended Redd Wood as a more affordable option with great food in Yountville, so we were really looking forward to it and the menu looked great.
Unfortunately it did not live up to its reputation. The menu was overpriced for pasta and pizza and we were told the pizza could take up to 30-40 mins as they had a big group ordering pizza. Pizza in a pizza oven should take a few minutes.
The burrata starter was tiny and mostly bread (again, way overpriced).
The pizza (when it arrived) was nice, but nothing to write home about.
The chilli pasta with chicken was soggy and made me sick the next day.
Whilst the staff were friendly and the ambience was nice, the food was a real let down and it was not good value by any stretch of the imagination.
Save your money for some of the more upmarket places and if you want a pizza, you'd be better off ordering in.
Very disappointed about our dining experience on 8/6/17. My wife and I were staying at the hotel and made reservations well in advance at this restaurant. We had dined here before and had a really great time. This time was just the opposite. The service was way off. Our server didn't tell us about any of the specials that night and we only found out about them as we finished our dinner when the table next to us was sat and overheard what was being offered. Our pasta was horrible. My wife got sick the next day because we think they served her gluten pasta instead of gluten-free pasta which she very clearly noted when ordering. When we received the check it listed her pasta as "kids". My pasta which was their regular bucatini pasta was too al dente and just this bland sauce, no flavor whatsoever. I ordered for it without cheese and meat and they unfortunately brought it out with plenty of cheese. They then brought out a random salad as a holder until the pasta could be remade but it was horribly salty. I couldn't even eat it.
It may have just been an off night but we were there for our anniversary and it could not have turned out worse. The previous visit was far better. Too bad. I don't think we would eat there again.
My car was keyed on Saturday, August 5th as my family and I dined at Redd Wood. My vehicle was parked in a designated parking spot for Redd Wood and Hotel patrons.
I didn’t notice the damage until the next day because it was dark after we finished dinner. I called Redd Wood and spoke to the manager about the issue, which he said was not the first time a car was vandalized at the restaurant. According to him, in the six months that he's been
working at Redd Wood, this was the third car to get vandalized. The manager stated he would look into the matter and call me back that evening or the next day. I did not get a return call. I telephoned again and left a message but still no call back. I expected management to take the matter seriously and at least, look into the matter especially since this was not the first time something like this occurred at Redd Wood.
I think it’s a huge failure on Redd Wood for not placing cameras in the parking lot or taking some action to protect people who dine at the restaurant once this happened more than once. It is disappointing because I use to be a big fan of the restaurant.
