Red's Famous Lobster Bisque
Prime Rib-Eye Steak
Everyone enjoyed their meals and the wait staff was very nice and helpful. We had a great quiet table.
I go for the fried chicken and sadly it was overcooked. the outside parts were hard but the inside was fine. Drumsticks cooked perfectly though--I guess the chef left the bigger pieces in a little too long.
They had no crab legs....the one reason I wanted to dine there! Also didn't offer lobster. Oh well.
The best onion rings anywhere. Love all of the food there and the 'old fashioned' steak house feel.
We always have a great meal with great service at Red's!
Overall-an enjoyable experience. Drinks excellent, first time we ordered steak and disappointed-too much gristle.
Sides always good and like their split charge adding another side. Service was excellent.
Meh, What disappointed us the most was how the food was cooked and the cost of the underwhelming food. The prices here are right on par with Ruth Chris Steakhouse, but the quality of the food is way below. I had the Filet Mignon ($62.50) with a side of mushrooms and onions, with a baked potato. I ordered my steak medium, expecting just a little pink on the inside and instead I got charred outside and uncooked, rare on the inside. I decided not to send it back because all the food was on the table and everything else would be ice cold by the time I got the filet back. The mushrooms and onions ($15) were greasy/oily and overcooked, the baked potato was gigantic. I thought all of the items were bland, no seasoning. So, if I'm going to spend a couple of hundred dollars for dinner, I really expect a memorable meal. Red Tracton's didn't deliver.
it's old school. Dark, Booths, Funny locals at the Bar. Excellent Cocktails.
awesome but kind of loud by the piano bar - to be expected but we get it - turn it down to 7 not 11
Great food, great old-fashioned steak house! The wine list was (due to Covid) not impressive, but otherwise all was good. As for a table in the dining room, the added extra room is impersonal and no good
Absolute worst food I’ve ever been served. 5 people- 5 different meals, no one could eat it- $300 bill was comical after sampling the food quality- tasted like perhaps they froze all of their food early in the pandemic last year and now were working through their food storage. On top of the poor food quality, after I parked in their lot I was approached by the valet team who told me they were valet only and I needed to pay him for me to park my own car- there was no signage supporting this, but paid him anyway. Do yourself a huge favor and skip this one.
My wife and I have been going to Red Tracton's for years', and always enjoyed it. We plan on going there next week to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food and service is excellent! If the restaurant was closer, we would be there a lot more. The ambience is very comfortable.
Great food and lots of fun
We had a more than wonderful Easter dinner at Red Tracton’s. This place was so wonderful and still had the old school steak house feel to it! Can’t wait to go back.
Got sat in the bar for a nice birthday dinner party, they had the basketball game on and it was a NOISY ZOO!! Not a good ambiance for a nice expensive dinner. Food was ok, took a really long time and some of it got burnt. Service was also just ok, our server dropped our food off and we never saw her again. Overall a pretty poor experience especially for the price. If I ever go back I will request the actual dining room!
despite the pandemic, still wonderful prime rib cooked to perfection
with fantastic service
still our favorite steak place by far
We made a reservation for 7pm and were told when we arrived that there was still a 30- to 40-minute wait because there were 10 reservations ahead of ours. In 40 years of being a human, I’ve never made a reservation and then not been able to sit down at my table within maybe 5-10 minutes. We were led into the noisy bar area and waited for almost and hour, surrounded by a lot of very drunk middle-age couples with more surgically enhanced everything than we’d ever seen confined in such a small space—and we’re from Scottsdale! It took a kind but assertive complaint to a nearby cocktail server to get seated, and we ended up outside by an electrical closet and storage, sitting by the pathway people walk down to go to the bathroom. The server we had from that point forward was lovely, and we could at least hear each other, but the only part of our meal that was good was the wedge salad. The steak was a poor quality and not worth the money, and the vegetables and rice were edible but also not great given the cost. We expected better—and we decided it was only worth the price of admission to watch drunk surgically enhanced women throw themselves at men twice their age against the backdrop of a lively piano bar. I mean, who needs reality television?
There is no place better than red Tracton's for a classic Meal!
It was nice to be back in Red Tracton's again, though different. The food was good,
not fabulous but decent value. There is not as much seating of course and it was
Sunday night and the bar area was not open.
I’ve had many wonderful meals at Red Traction
The last meal spending close to $600.
Was the worst experience and meal I ever had
The steam was very tough the wedge salad came out a chopped salad with so many union in it that was all you could taste
I left most of my diner on my plate
I’m hoping due to the pandemic that this will not be the normal
Seated in the bar area due to social distancing. It was a bit chilly but food is always amazing here.
Very very expensive with an almost nonexistent Cabernet choice- Josh! I’ve always liked this place but it is pricing itself out of the market.
First time here, food and service outstanding. The lounge with the piano bar and dancing an added plus.
Large portions, however food of poor quality, presentation and taste.
Quality of food, environment and and presentation do not line up with the price.
Paper menus with food stains and copies slanted. Dishes with spots and food on plates. Brick hard bread and super dry chicken.
Sadly disappointed and concerned that this restaurant would be on Open Table which normally has very good restaurants. Please evaluate.
Required Valet also very interesting as there was no need for one given the restaurant flow.
Odd and unsavory.
31 yrs in San Diego and I have never been before. Not sure why it took me so long to finally go here, but it does not disappoint. CLASSIC old school steak house vibe with horserace theme. Food is top notch and drinks are fantastic. Service was just as good
Things aren’t the same at this local restaurant, prices are not in line with the quality of the food, half the restaurant was quiet and dark, no music, depressed staff and were not in New York...a vodka cranberry or margarita is not $25 to $39 a glass...ask before you order, $100 per person is one thing but a party of 4 paying $625!..Now I understand why 4 tables over a guy yelled out “are you kidding me”!!?? Just before leaving, he must have seen his outrageous bill. Sorry RT after 4 years of coming here, last night was the last. I know Covid is real but so our customers expectations and your new pricing is not in line with any upgrades to your restaurant, your staff, the location, or the quality of your food.
It was a joke. There prices were so jacked up for Valentines’s :Day that we all felt taken advantage of. 5 shrimp were $60! A baked potato was 11.50 as an up charge for a side. They used to be included and then were raised to $4.50 or something. We dined here a lot in the past but never again. They also didn’t mention a special menu foe Valentine’s Day when I made the res on here. I emailed the restaurant and never got a response.
Alway good, but the staff is the glue that has held the place together, an institution in
Over priced and building needs renovation
Always great food and atmosphere. Hope to be back soon.
Food and service excellent as usual. Tables all full on a Friday night. Nice ambiance. Good time. Certainly on expensive side but excellent food.
Red Tracton’s never disappoints ... when you want a classic steak house experience this is the place.
This place is fantastic! A must visit if you’re in Solana Beach.
So happy we chose Red Tractons for date night. Our server was attentive and pleasant. We started with their delicious Lobster Bisque & New England Clam Chowder. I ordered the Scallops, sautéed perfectly and my boyfriend ordered their signature Prime Rib. Both dishes were excellent! 5 stars!
Great live music in the bar.
THE WORST PIECE OF ??PRIME RIB?? I HAVE EVER HAD. VERY SAD FOR A PLACE THAT TOUTS "FAMOUS PRIME RIB". THE MEAT CUT 8OZ WAS TOUGH AND HAD VERY LITTLE FLAVOR. MY "PREMIUM SIDE", LOADED BAKED POTATO WAS BARELY WARM. THE 2 BLACKENED SHRIMP WERE GOOD.
MY WIFE HAD THE 8OZ FILET BUTTERLIED AND SHE WAS HAPPY WITH IT.
THIS RESERVATION WAS MADE AS AN ANNIVERSARY DINNER, BUT NO OFFER OF A SHARED COMPLIMENTARY DESSERT WAS MADE.
ALL IN ALL, A VERY POOR VALUE FOR $150.00
NEEDLESS TO SAY,,, WE EXPECTED BETTER.
BRENT RUFENACHT - 760-212-9707
Food was delicious & plentiful. The service was prompt & friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal.
Certain food items are grossly overpriced.
1. Shrimp cocktail $42 vs $19to $23. same quality
2. Some wines overpriced
Sat at a table in the bar area where I could watch baseball as well as listen to the live musician and piano player. Fantastic meal included lobster bisque, loaded baked potato, and an order of Alaskan King crab legs. All free dishes were delicious and superb. Brought home path of the generous portions in a doggy box. The Krebs were expensive and the best I’ve ever had. Also had cappuccino ice cream for dessert which was very good as well. Friendly and very helpful service I will definitely be returning.
