The food and service was great. We both had the Delmonico steaks. Very tender and flavorful. Split a salad, potatoes. Wine list is expansive.

Fantastic dinner as usual. We stopped in before heading to the Hall & Oates concert and had a wonderful experience. Steaks were cooked to perfection and our bartenders (Jenn and Brandon) did a wonderful job. They were engaging, but not intrusive which allowed us to enjoy our meal before the show.

Amazing dinner and service. Best steak I have ever eaten and the green beans are a MUST order. Nice amount of spice and delicious. Fun atmosphere and I know this is strange but I even like the music. Newer pop hits and not too loud.

Service was HORRIBLE! We were seated in the bar area and waited 10 minutes with no server. Went up to hostess station to get a server and waited another 5 minutes. They were clearly understaffed! Server was slow paced, inefficient and unapologetic. Food was good but we won’t go back.

We had a 5:30 reservation on a Friday night before a concert. We were running behind due to traffic and I called to make sure we wouldn’t lose our reservation. When we arrived, there was a table reserved for us; however it was in the bar area and there appeared to only be one server taking care of all the tables in the bar. The service was extremely slow and the server wasn’t as attentive as the ones I’ve had when seated in the main dining room. We did enjoy our food very much but felt that if you’re going to seat that many people in the bar, it needs to be properly staffed so guests don’t feel like second class patrons.

I have not had to write a review on open table of a restaurant which was a suboptimal experience, so this is my first. We were in town for an after work event and Red was suggested since some of our party had been there for lunch and enjoyed it. Dinner apparently is a different experience. You are pushed to order steak a little more than I think is necessary (some of us felt shamed to go with other options). The food, while very good, was not stellar. Worse was the service. They said they worked as a team but I cannot recall being more ignored in a restaurant in recent memory. We hardly saw our lead waiter. Also distressing the ac system was dripping/spewing water droplets all over our table and us. We were moved but the problem persisted and our waitress disappeared. Dinner took 40 minutes to arrive and they kindly offered free dessert for the trouble. Not planning to return for dinner, anyway.

We enjoyed our dinner but the service was very poor. They said they had a team approach, but it was amazing how slow and inattentive the entire team was. Particularly the male who was our lead. The female was better.

It was my wife’s birthday as indicated on the reservation. My wife’s birthday was not recognized until after I requested the check.

I chose this restaurant as an alternative to Capital Grille, I have never been disappointed with CG. I expected based on the dollars spent that I would receive a similar or better experience at Red.

Our reservation was at 7pm, there were 2! tables occupied when we sat down. It was clear this was not a destination for upscale dining.

The waitress barely knew the menu. She struggled quite frequently and offered no recommendations. The appetizers offered were typical chain restaurant offerings, calamari, shrimp, blah blah.

The bread was obviously frozen and reheated, not locally sourced not baked in house, most likely ordered frozen from a distributor.

The steaks were fine, nothing out of the ordinary.

I won’t even mention the deserts. Embarrassing.

Lastly, what irritated me the most was the lack of service. Just a tip for your servers, clean the breadcrumbs off the tablecloth!

Red is nothing more than an overpriced Outback Steakhouse.

We went last minute on a Thursday evening arriving at 830PM. The restaurant was virtually empty except for a few tables. Pittsburgh has several top quality steakhouses with Red being the new kid on the block. Although very good, in my opinion does not match up to the already established steakhouses. When in the mood for an upscale experience in the future I am afraid I would opt for one of them. Waitress was cute, friendly, and helpful but had no passion for the venue or menu. Having said all that I would give it another go hoping for a more special experience.

Went for Mother’s Day dinner. Service was great - everyone said their meals were great. Nice selection of drinks. Calamari appetizer was very good and big portion. Pre-meal salads were very good. I had the 40 day ribeye Pgh Rare which I wouldn’t get again. Wife had chicken parm which was huge and fantastic. Few filet’s ordered - cooked perfectly and delicious per my dad and daughter. Mom ordered the linguini and clams which was huge and looked incredible. Mac and cheese and spinach sides were really good. Great cheesecake and doughnuts for dessert. I will definitely return.

The only real complaint was that it was unusually cold in the restaurant. We were seated directly under an air vent. We brought it to our server’s attention and were promptly moved.

The chicken dish I ate was not very inspiring. It was different from what I was served at a dinner meeting I attended there several weeks earlier. The asparagus was far too buttery once the dish cooled. The salad was not as good as the one served at the dinner meeting. Perhaps, there is a different culinary offering for groups than for individual diners. It is for that reason, I would recommend for groups, added to the fact that the facility seems to be designed to accommodate gatherings. The overhead music did not seem to fit the environment. With the jazzy decorum, it would seem that soft jazz piped in would have been a better selection.

While the food was excellent, it is not an efficient lunch option. We ordered quickly but waited over 40 min for the food to arrive. Our 11:30 reservation was intended to avoid the lunch crowd, which it did as the restaurant was not very busy; however, service was very slow. We asked for the checks to be provided at the time of the meals to hurry things along but that was not done either. It seems if you don’t have 2 hours for lunch then this is not a good option.

Red is a beautiful restaurant and it was pretty empty when we went...but service was really slow and uneven...took forever just to get bread! Ordered lobster pasta (MP) and it was only fair...and the bill for it was $90!!! Steak was good but not good enough for Red to compete with the food and service of their competitors...and there are many! Sides were small and okay! Hope they get it together...we were truly disappointed to the tune of $450 (for four).

One of the best steakhouses I have visited this year! Having been to just about every high-end "chain" steakhouse in the county, RED did not disappoint. Loved the decoration with its slightly retro decor -- think "Mad Men". The service was spot on the entire night. Everyone was fully attentive, professional, knowledgable and very personable. The food was top notch. While the rest of the family enjoyed their steaks I decided to give the veal chop Milanese a spin and it was fantastic. The veal chop was pounded just right and was tender while the coating crunchy. Loved the fresh greens on top -- authentic. Good selection of sides, not just the run of the mill steakhouse choices. Try the cauliflower au gratin for sure! There was nothing "run of the mill" about RED. It was a great choice to celebrate a college graduation! When in Pittsburgh we will return!

Had a reservation, got there early, hostess said she’d come get us in the bar...waited, waited, went back out to hostess stand and guess what, table just opened. Waitress came to table and asked if we were ready to order...never asked if we’d been there before, didn’t review the menu, etc. She went and brought us drinks and bread, and again just asked if we were ready to order. Ordered oysters that weren’t terribly fresh. The prime steak was very good but the mushroom/onions had dried out under a heat lamp or some other holding device. Weren’t offered desserts. Paid our bill and were up putting our coats on when they brought two bite size desserts.
We’ll not be back. For the price paid Ruth’s Chris, Morton’s, Hyde park are far better options.

There were quite a few issues during our time at Red. The first being our filets that we ordered. I ordered a medium steak. I received a steak that was rare. It wasn’t even pink. I couldn’t eat it, unfortunately. I did tell our server and he offered a free dessert. My husband asked for his filet to be medium well. It ended up being well. Burnt actually. Surprisingly, the steaks have no flavor. Our friend ordered the crab legs (not shelled). The server brought them out and they were shelled. He received Crab meat only. Our server was definitely not on his A-game. We ordered multiple rounds of cocktails. 20 minutes later we’d get them. He forgot them one time and we had to remind him. I asked for steak sauce and had to remind the server to bring it out. There were 6 of us and so we ordered 6 sides to share. They were just ok. We’ve had better. I would hope that a restaurant that specializes in steaks would be able to cook them properly. Unfortunately, they did not. The prices at Red are about the same at Eddie V’s. Red does not even compare. Eddie V’s steaks and sides are phenomenal as is their service. Eddie V’s is on point. We did discuss all of the above with the server and he offered us 1 free desert. Our bill came to close to $700 for 6 adults. We will not be visiting Red again. The restaurant was not busy at 7:30 on a Saturday night. That should have been a sign. :(

We had dinner with a group of eight prior to a Friday evening Pens game. Service was excellent and they were very mindful of timing. We were in a private dining room so noise level could have been different for our party than others in the main dining room. However the overall experience was great. Food was quite good.

This was my second time to Red the Steakhouse in Pittsburgh, and it won't be the last. Both times, the service has been impeccable! We ordered a bottle of wine (I couldn't decide between two), and both of the wines we wanted were out-of-stock. To make up for it, they gave us a more expensive bottle of wine at the cost of the least expensive we wanted to order. Also, we ordered a dessert, and the waitress came back and told us the chef did not like the way it turned out so they did not have the specific one we ordered, so they comped us a dessert as well. On top of excellent service, the food is fabulous. The steaks were excellent, piping hot, and cooked PERFECTLY. The sides were also great -- risotto of the day was delicious as was the wedge salad. For an aperitif we had the limoncello which was also outstanding. Great meal both times from start to finish. We will be back!

The catch of the day entre I selected was no longer available on the specials at lunch. someone made the decision to prepare and send me a substitute, without asking me what I prefer. While the staff made every concession and apology, and removed the meal from the bill, I guess I expected better customer service from an upscale restaurant. The substitute was awful. Everyone else's meal looked yummy. Food envy.

I made reservations to celebrate my husband's birthday with our son and daughter-in-law and confirmed the special event when the restaurant called to confirm the reservation. I was disappointed that the wait team seemed to have no knowledge of the special occasion. I did not mention it when we were being seated as my husband doesn't like to make a big deal of things. Bottom line, food was good - but pricey in comparison to other restaurants of similar quality. We did order and pay for yummy desserts - but didn't receive a complimentary birthday dessert which most restaurants provide. I know it sounds petty, but I was expecting something small and was disappointed.

Great meal. The salmon was excellent on top of the Greek Salad. I preferred the Caesar dressing to the Greek (bland). Vegetables were fresh and crisp. Will go back for sure.

This was my first visit. It was a two person business lunch. I will definitely go back for lunch, and dinner, as well. The special was "halibut" over vegetables. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The potato-leek soup before dinner was excellent. I skipped the doughnut holes dessert, however, it was a tough choice as they looked fantastic.

I asked for a quiet place for our lunch. What I was given was perfect. Our wait person was attentive and helpful without being intrusive - a fantastic combination.

As this was an end-of-the-week lunch, it was not extremely crowded when I was there. However, the atmosphere, design and spacing cause me to think that even with a more crowded room, something about the ambiance remains inviting and relaxing. The person who was at lunch with me confided he thought Red has the best steak in Pittsburgh, which is saying quite something given all of the choices in the 'Burgh these days.

Had dinner with my son for March Madness. Service and food was great. Had a slight delay waiting for appetizers but they removed the cost from our bill as a goodwill gesture. No complaints!
