Red, the Steakhouse - Miami Beach Ratings and Reviews
Red has definitely gone downhill over the last several years.
We listed on Open Table that this was a special occasion but this was essentially ignored so not sure why one would care to list this .
While there is a lot of great food options, for the price you pay, the food quality is unremarkable. More over, the steak should be cooked properly. As any steak lover knows, if a steak cooked much different than ordered, sending it back essentially ruins the steak and affects the overall dining experience. For the price, it should be done right.
Additionally, if you are going to pay $180 for a crab dish as we did, the crab should be prepared with excellence.
Service was great but it seems the location is much emptier as the years have gone on. We’ve been here many times but not likely to return. Very sad about that.
Lousy service. Had to ask twice for bread
Steak was ordered medium got it bleeding rare they took it back upon my complaining and brought exactly as it went to the kitchen
A side dish of sparagus was completely cold also sent back
Will never go back nor recommend this restaurant to anybody
Steaks were excellent as was the truffle mashed potatoes, but onion soup and mac & cheese were mediocre at best, especially for the prices being charged. The impression that I came away with from my dining experience was that the wait staff, at least the waiter we had, seemed to be disinterested unless you were ordering ultra expensive bottles of wine and other very expensive menu items such as raw seafood towers. The bill for my wife, daughter and me was over $300, yet I felt the friendliness and attentiveness was underwhelming.
The food and the service was excellent. My steak was cooked to perfection and it was one of the best I have had. The only problem I had was after we were finished with dinner and had cashed out we struck a conversation with a local. We were asked if we would move from our bar seats because some local regulars wanted our chairs. I know I was cashed out but we had spent $300 and probably would have spent more by sitting at the bar. To me that was bad customer service and would debate on coming back. But overall we were pleased with the dinner.
We love Red & try to go at least once a year. It's expensive but the quality of the meat & wine list is outstanding. If one of the specials interests you, suggest you ask for the price. One of the few places that has good Steak Tartare asan appetizer. Steaks were cooked to perfection.
The only drawback we experienced; a bit little too much salt was sprinkled on the steaks
We had a composition out of the Miami Spice Menu. The quality of the food was good, the meat was tender BUT overall I have to say, that in relation to the price it was not a good experience. We paid over 320$ for 3 people, Service was absolutely not reasonable of the price, the service charge of 20% is automatically included in the bill (what is not so uncommon in places like that). As I have eaten good quality meat around different places in the world, I really have to say that price-performance ratio of this place is in no way not reasonable.
The reputation far exceeds the reality at Red. This steak house is definitely past it’s prime. The bar cocktails are unimaginative and use standard mass-produced brand name sprits such as Bacardi and Absolut.
The service was polite but not particularly attentive every mistake was followed by an immediate apology, there were many. The quality of the meat was very good, but my black and blue steak came out medium rare and happened to be the last of that cut. The replacement was not cooked properly either. The compensation was a dessert, even thought I requested they waive the hefty $35 corkage fee. They did not. A disappointing evening, not worth the price paid. Find another steak house.
First time dining at Red the Steakhouse with my wife and another couple. We had zero complaints with the entire experience. From the reservation, hostess, waiter, food...it was a 10 out of 10. Our waiter was amazing and his recommendations were spot-on. We’ll definitely be back!
Probably the worst meal I have ever had and definitely the worst calamari and lobster ever.
Charged 62 dollars service plus 62 more for gratuity!!!!
Loudest and least cozy establishment I have ever had the misfortune of visiting.
So many good restaurants nearby so avoid this one!!!!
Unfortunately, when a steak house screws up on these two things, its major. “SPECIAL” of the night was burrata...it was sour and tasted like it was left out for days, if it is your “special,” please ensure it is safe to eat! (Later admitted, we were correct - I hope it was discarded of and no other patron had to taste it). Porterhouse ordered medium, came out blue. If your specials are not fresh and you cannot cook a steak to proper temperature, what is the point? Disappointed.
Had an awesome experience out with my wife on our anniversary. Made reservations late but was pleasantly surprised that we weren't rushed when we got there. The greeter was friendly and beautiful. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu options and gave us great service. Food was delicious!
Living next door, I have been to Red a few times. After receiving an email from it where they prominently advertised their new Miami spice menu, we decided going. It's a nicely finished location, usually not full. I asked for a booth table, but given a small, squeezed non booth, the place had lots of empty booths. We ordered drinks, by prior experience, they never have any wines below $100, always run out. The Miami spice menu was not offered and had to be requested. After placing orders, it was clear the lack of interest by the waiter. The food was tasty but common complements like pepper, salt and Parmesan for pasta had to be requested (when we were finally able to get the waiter's attention). Lastly, without asking if we wanted coffee or after dinner drink, that we did, he handed the check as if in a hurry because our table had "only" spent ~$284.00 for 2 people... Resumed: Food and ambiance were good. Service was quite bad.
We love this restaurant but I advise all to avoid the Miami Spice menu. Our meal was absolutely substandard at every level. Most importantly, the steaks were so tiny they could never have been cooked properly and also totally lacking in any discernible flavor. It appears that they failed to season any of the food in fact. Worst of all, none of the staff appeared to be very concerned with any of these inadequacies. Advice - if you go for Spice, stick to items other than the meat at this "Steakhouse."
Very nice place. I did think the lobster Mac was a bit greasy and the bar drink- over priced and not tasty. Loved the apps and the salad dressing was superb. For 2, it was $250. Very high end and I hope they work on the drink specialty menu- blah. Order a steak for sure.
Went for miami spice to try this establishment. Usually have had great experiences with spice menus. Beware. Spice menu offerings are TINY so if you are expecting a representative meal you will be disappointed. The filet mignon was tasty but two bitefuls and appetizer portions are the same. My husband had the grandson diablo lobster which was more like a langoustine
The spice menu portions is really a fraction of normal menu sizes so not as good of a deal as one might think. Service and d dessert was good.
My husband an I love fine dining and treating ourselves after a long week. It had been 4 years since we last went to Red, and we had liked it. We went last Friday and the service was terrible. The food was not great, tasted like something I could have eaten at Outback for 1/4 of the price. Not a good experience. With all the great restaurants in South Florida, going to Red is a waste of money and time. Will not be back.
