We had a great meal at Red. And although it is officially a "steakhouse," we both had meatless pasta dishes that were fabulous. I have felt confident recommending Red to a several people since dining there.
BEST steak I have ever had in my life!! Other food was great as well. They charged for some stupid things that should just be included, like $5 for broiled garlic on top of your steak.. if I’m paying $50+ for a steak, they should just throw in the tablespoon of garlic. Server was nice and friendly. Would go back for sure
Our salads were excellent, our ribeye steaks were tasty, but tough, and our truffle whipped potatoes were good, but only lukewarm in temperature. Our server, Mark, was terrific...on top of everything! We were celebrating my husband’s birthday, but with many of the restaurant’s clientele wearing jeans, t-shirts, shorts, and baseball caps, it certainly didn’t feel like a special occasion type of restaurant, although the prices certainly did!
The Manager refused to honor a $50 gift certificate that we had purchased through Cleveland Independents and which doesn’t expire until January 23, 2024, saying they are no longer involved with that organization. When I checked with Cleveland Independents, they said that Red Downtown had signed an agreement saying they would accept all gift certificates issued when they were members. Red chose not to honor their obligation.
For many years, Red was our go-to place for a good steak and nice ambiance. The last time we had dinner there was for New Year’s Eve 2019, and unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience that night, and were reluctant to return. After this past year with the Pandemic, we wanted to give it another try. I’m glad we did, but we won’t be back!
Had 7pm reservations on a Saturday for my boyfriend's birthday. We were in an upstairs dining room, which was disappointing. Only 4 tables, social distancing. However, there was no ambiance. No art or decor or anything to look at, I felt like I was at a cheap banquet table and chair.
Waited about 20 min for a drink, appetizers followed quickly. Then 50 minutes later our steaks arrived. The food was delicious but service slow and impersonal. The waitress was kind and comped us a drink for our wait but it was not nearly nearly 5 star experience I expected from a steakhouse like Red. I appreciate the covid response but really think that service could've been better. And maybe a prix frix menu to lessen the blow of the bill. Should've gotten it to go.
Great service. Mark was very attentive but also gave us time to chat and enjoy the meal.
My date had the veal which was okay. I had the lobster with risotto, which was great!
All in all, not bad at all....a little expensive for the experience.
Took server about a half hour to come over and great us. Then took forever to get a bottle of wine. Other then that I’d say dinner was good.
Always great food, great service. Great before the Indians game.
Service and food was outstanding. Seated promptly wait staff extremely accommodating and total experience was great. Our family wIll be back
Very nice meal- filet was seasoned well and cooked to my desired temp.
Wedge was crisp and cold (would leave croutons off next time)
Sides were huge and very good- brussel sprouts, mashed potato
Not being seated in the main restaraunt was a major disapointment, especially when we were celebrating my wifes 60th and moms 82nd b-days. (reservation was made well in adavance wit no mention of this set up). We were seated upstairs in what I would call a baquet or meeting room that was stark white. It felt like we were seated at a wedding or sports award baquet versus one of the coolest reatauruants in town. It was my moms forst vist and she was pleased with the food and service as we all were, but for the rest of us we were looking forward to a great meal and sitting in the main dining room, such a cool space. we had a great meal and Chase provided great service, jus a bummer to be seated where we were.
We made the reservation late and that was part of the issue. We were seated in a private party room upstairs and it seemed strange with only 4 tables in it. The service was good and the food seemed to be okay. I’d definitely try it again, but make sure I was seated in the lower dining area.
Awesome sauce
Enjoyed our dinner, the waitress was excellent. The hostess was also very helpful as she assisted my friend who was with me who is legally blind and handicapped and she waited until I was able to bring my car back around to the restaurant to pick him up. I thought that a little bit of garnish on the plate of the steak would have made it look better. I ordered the pasta (I know it's a steak house) but I was a little disappointed in that entree. Overall though everything was good. The restaurant is still a little noisy but not as much as last time I was there.
Prime filet mignon, lobster tail, crab cakes...all delicious!
Expensive but worth it. We got the prime steaks and they were amazing.
Greeted when I walked in, excellent service, and steaks were good. Coming from a larger city, Chicago, I feel the one thing that this place could benefit from were more cuts of beef: wagyu cut or even different types of bone-in like a tomahawk. My meal was very small for $300 price tag, that was including the tip. This menu needs a revamping. The menu was very traditional steakhouse along with the dessert menu. Overall satisfied with the entire meal and would return.
Celebrating a birthday with friends. The food was good, as always, other than an undercooked steak, which I chose not to send back. Our server Chase did well.
The biggest disappointment was, being seated in a private room. ( understand that may have been only option, do to social distancing requirements) very plain ambiance in this room & extremely loud, with a table of 10 seated nearby.
I will return, but only with a smaller party, for the time being
Soooo good!
Awesome dinner! Food and service were great. They had us socially distanced well.
The food and service was beyond excellent!!! Made my first visit to Cleveland amazing!!
We have dined at Red several times. Food and service has typically been outstanding. This time I (as well as our whole party) noticed a huge shift in attitude from the staff and waitress because we had a baby with us. The baby was very cooporative and quiet the entire evening; which was cut short and felt extremely rushed by our waitress. She was short and borderline rude at some moments. We actually have had this particular waitress before and the previous time, she was quite pleasant. It was very clear that they did not appreciate even the thought that we brought a baby into the restaurant no matter what her behavior was. It's a shame because as much as we used to enjoy dining here, this really put a bad taste in my mouth and will reconsider dining there in the future.

For the price I think you can find better in the Cleveland area. I question whether my 8oz filet was really 8oz. Looked more like 6oz. It was cooked to the perfect temperature, but the flavor didn’t blow me away by any means. I would have been fine if the steak was $35, but the $54 price tag is way too high for what you get.
We had a party of 6, our sever Nicole was very sweet and attentive. The food was ok, I would pass on the risotto since it was not good. It’s an ok place to eat. Pretty pricey.
Great place food amazing tasted great great presentation. everyone is friendly and accomodating .
We waited about 10 minutes before a waitress came to welcome us. Food took longer than expected to cook and my steak was not cooked to medium well. Had to be sent back. I typically wouldn’t do this but at $44 a steak it should be cooked correctly. The gentleman next to us also had to send his back. I’ll take Outback steak I’ve this one any day. Not much flavor.
We’ve been to Red before but this time our server was not very informative when I asked questions and she wasn’t around much, they took some things we liked off of the menu, the portion size of our steaks were so small!!! Any other time they were way bigger!! For the price we paid for the bill I feel we should of gotten more steak, normally we have a good experience but this time it wasn’t good.. & if was my birthday wish I would of enjoyed it.. I don’t know if we’ll be back again
Dinner was amazing I recommend the truffle whipped potatoes the beet salad and the filet!
Always a great experience! keep up the great service Team Red.
Best steak in Cleveland!
Incredible as usual! I would recommend coming here for a great date night.
The food was excellent our server was excellent, it was my birthday and my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. We dined upstairs in one of the room’s.
Fantastic steaks and crab legs! The tuna and calamari appetizers were delicious! Service was adequate.
We had fantastic food & service. Definitely going back!!!!!
Had a great time. Meal awesome from a start to finish. Service was exceptional!
Not worth the price & not great quality food. Way over priced for quality
I brought my friend to Red for her 30th birthday, and I am so glad I did! The food was absolutely amazing. We started our dinner with the charcuterie board and French onion dip, both of which were amazing. For dinner we each had the 16 oz. lobster tail. What a great choice. The lobster was fresh and savory. We had the roasted broccoli and Mac and cheese as sides and both were incredible. Following dinner we had cheesecake and it was also delicious. Our service was great as well. I would definitely recommend Red to my friends and family and I will be back again!
Great food as always. Excellent service!
I could eat here every night! Such a great steak! Sides were delicious! Can’t wait to go back!
We were in town for a surgery at Cleveland clinic and wanted to take my wife gor a nice dinner before I was admitted so I looked on open table for top rated steak houses. This was on the top with Ruth Chris which I have eaten at several times across the US. We absolutely loved RED!
We started with the crab bisque it was probably the best I’ve ever had (although a bit pricey at $24.00 for a bowl).
The salads were dressed perfectly
The prime filet was cooked perfectly it was melt in your mouth tender and perfectly seasoned.
The cauliflower Au gratin was delicious
The lobster tail was sweet and perfectly cooked
The cheese cake with thinly sliced pairs and a pear reduction was moist and creamy!
Overall it was a fantastic meal, the service was excellent and the staff friendly and welcoming. If you are in the Cleveland area and haven’t tried RED you are missing out on a great meal.
