Food was very tasty. We were seated earlier than expected and the service was phenomenal. A really great experience
Great sazerac - thought I was in New Orleans! We had a wonderful meal and our guests, whom we introduced to Red Stag, liked it also.
We were there on a Sat. night and, somewhat as expected, it was slightly noisy for conversation.
Red Stag has long been one of our favorites - keep it up!!!
Awesome food and atmosphere. Love the Saturday morning MPR Classical Brunch. We didn't know about it until we got there and it was great!
This is my fifth time visiting Red Stag, but my first time having dinner. We usually have a great experience when visiting for brunch or drinks, and the outdoor seating is lovely in the warmer weather. During this most recent visit, my three guests and I had a great time, but there were a few bummers throughout the evening:
- We were a party of four and seated at a very large round table that could easily have collapsed to a small square table, which would have been more appropriate for a party of 4. I do not mind noisy restaurants (I usually quite enjoy the energy), but with the noise level and it was hard to communicate across such a huge table.
- We ordered a starter to share, and two of us ordered a side of brussel sprouts to accompany our main dishes. The brussel sprouts came out with the starter, well before our main course arrived. I guess we could have specified that we wanted it with the main course, but that seems standard to me.
- We ordered a burger to be cooked medium, and it was most definitely well done. It was a delicious burger otherwise, but there was no hint of pink to be seen.
- It took forever to get our food. They did bring a basket of complimentary house-made chips since the food was taking so long, but the chips were super oily and cold.
My experiences having brunch and drinks at Red Stag have been wonderful and we will definitely return. A few notes on brunch:
- The chicken and waffles is delicious!
- The brunch service has always been quick, and the servers are wonderful.
- The noise level has been a bit more quiet during brunch.
Always enjoy the fine service and great food! This is first time I ever ate ferns!
The food was wonderful, but the usually impeccable service was merely okay on this visit. The table was sticky from the varnish coming undone. It was too loud to carry on a conversation.
The service was incredibly slow.
The service was slow, it took over an hour to get our food, but once it came it was superb. We had theater tickets so were concerned about be late. Without another engagement, it would have been fine. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive.
Always an excellent place for a hearty, full Midwestern meal. Great place to bring family and friends to introduce them to the best of supper clubs. Love the bar, the cocktails and great local taps.
Food always good. Like the gluten free options. Last visit, service was poor. 15 minutes after seating to get a drink order, then another 10 min wait. Wait staff seemed tired and really disinterested.
Unfortunate, we have had better service in the past. That can make a difference in choice to return. We also found it odd that the bill had a 3% add-on charge to cover health insurance of staff. So, cost is more than menu prices because the 3% is not an option.
My wife and I went to Red Stag to celebrate an occasion - we'd never been there before but it sounded great. Turns out, Tuesday night is date night at Red Stag. Really reasonable prices!
We tried a pork dish featured on their date night menu, and it was horribly bland, terrible. The worst part about it, the pork was WAY undercooked. I like my hamburgers rare or medium rare - this pork was nearly ice cold in the middle. The potatoes and broccolini were under seasoned (something I could easily whip up at home). The chow chow was good though.
We enjoyed the beer selection, and the dessert was decent as well.
One of my very favorite places. Though my husband's steak was well done when he asked for medium, everything else was as good as it always is.
Fabulous food, great service, wonderful atmosphere—all at a good price. Will definitely be back
This was our second visit and Red Stag is now our go-to for special occasions when family are visiting. Excellent food, great veg options. Laid back “old school” atmosphere. Not cheap, but worth it.
Brunch was very busy and filled with family’s of 8 or more. Kids running around everywhere running into my chair. I believe the food quality lacked because of these large tables. Was very slapped together.
Sorry but service was very slow and food was not that great. We were there for brunch on a Sunday late morning. We have had good luck with dinners there but won’t be back for brunch.
I’m a sucker for fried blue gill and Red Stag didn’t disappoint. Love the supperclub ambiance and they also do a pretty mean Old Fashion.
We went to get the fish fry. The smelt fries were excellent. I got the bluegill and she got the cod. The dinners came and my wife got walleye and I got the bluegill. The waiter could not tell the dishes apart when we questioned what we received our meals. He took them back and refired the meals. It was by far not the best fish fry. The table next to us also sent back their steak for being tough and over cooked.
The ambiance was the only thing we truly loved.
They have a 3% health insurance add on fee. This according to research began July of 2017.
I disagree with separate fees but at least they are transparent about it...
Tuesday date night is a great deal with two special entrees, a bottle of wine and dessert for an very reasonable price. The food is excellent and the setting, pleasant and casual. Service is always superb. Recommended.
Cozy atmosphere and delicious food.
Food was amazing. Service just fine, just wish the price were lower so I could come more often! It’s worth it!
Great food! Really enjoyed the atmosphere.
Great food. Fish was fantastic. Robert the host was awesome!
Splurched and went for the Blue Gill Fried fish lent special. I am glad I ordered this tasty fried fish. I am sure the walleye and cod are excellent too, but the blue gill has that very satisfying flavor that is a pan fish lover’s delight! Thanks!!!
My salad and the chip appetizer were delicious! Great location for a Business lunch.
We had the “cheap date” special which was either spaghetti with lamb meatballs or veggie lasagna. These came with a bottle of Cabernet or Sauvignon Blanc and a molten chocolate cake. We had the smelt fries as an appetizer and it was all quite good. We both really liked the smoked catsup dip that went with the fries. Our server was warm and timely with food and drink and a quick smile.
We requested a table away from the bar and kitchen and were seated at a window table that was both. Parking is always a challenge but we expect it and something usually opens up after a pass or two around the block.
The bartender has satanic tattoos and was very rude when I asked about it. It made me very uncomfortable
The restaurant was too loud, and the seating was cramped. The food and service were great, but the ambiance was stressful.
This was our first time to Red Stagg Supper Club. For three days after, we were talking about how great the food is and began planning the next time to go. We also want to try brunch and maybe some of the specials you have during other days of the week.
The food is always delicious, but the price range is more fitting for a once-in-a-while treat or special occasion. It can get pretty loud, yet the setting feels cozy. When it's busy, the wait staff can seem distant, but they do a great job and knowledgeably answer questions regarding the menus and drinks lists.
Bread pudding was the highlight of the overall excellent meal!
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Server made good recommendations.
Literally, terrible - Every dish. Serive was poor including 2 people fighting over who was the server for our table. Drink weren’t good either and took 20 mins to get to our table.
Wonderful food. Awesome ambiance!
Outstanding. Menu was diverse, creative, and yet simple and familiar.
Service was excellent.
Food was delicious.
We love brunch here
Loved the environment! Great food and impeccable dinner service!
High quality food flavors. Menu options are familiar but premium design. Excellent for a casual date night. Can get noisy later at night, though.
If nothing else the creme brulee is unpassable. Seriously...can I get like a monthly supply of this?
While the restaurant only had a few groups, we waited 1 1/2 hours for our food. Only I ordered the restaurant week prix fix special. The vegetables were scorched, the beans were hard, the dish was represented as a stew but there was no blending of flavors as it was all cooked separately. The lamb component was delicious and tender but unfortunately not enough to carry the entree. The lobster macaroni and cheese was good, the Prime rib for 2 was cold and fatty. The server did her best but the kitchen failed.
