Food was amazing. Service just fine, just wish the price were lower so I could come more often! It’s worth it!
Great food! Really enjoyed the atmosphere.
Great food. Fish was fantastic. Robert the host was awesome!
Splurched and went for the Blue Gill Fried fish lent special. I am glad I ordered this tasty fried fish. I am sure the walleye and cod are excellent too, but the blue gill has that very satisfying flavor that is a pan fish lover’s delight! Thanks!!!
My salad and the chip appetizer were delicious! Great location for a Business lunch.
We had the “cheap date” special which was either spaghetti with lamb meatballs or veggie lasagna. These came with a bottle of Cabernet or Sauvignon Blanc and a molten chocolate cake. We had the smelt fries as an appetizer and it was all quite good. We both really liked the smoked catsup dip that went with the fries. Our server was warm and timely with food and drink and a quick smile.
We requested a table away from the bar and kitchen and were seated at a window table that was both. Parking is always a challenge but we expect it and something usually opens up after a pass or two around the block.
The restaurant was too loud, and the seating was cramped. The food and service were great, but the ambiance was stressful.
This was our first time to Red Stagg Supper Club. For three days after, we were talking about how great the food is and began planning the next time to go. We also want to try brunch and maybe some of the specials you have during other days of the week.
The food is always delicious, but the price range is more fitting for a once-in-a-while treat or special occasion. It can get pretty loud, yet the setting feels cozy. When it's busy, the wait staff can seem distant, but they do a great job and knowledgeably answer questions regarding the menus and drinks lists.
Bread pudding was the highlight of the overall excellent meal!
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Server made good recommendations.
Literally, terrible - Every dish. Serive was poor including 2 people fighting over who was the server for our table. Drink weren’t good either and took 20 mins to get to our table.
Wonderful food. Awesome ambiance!
Outstanding. Menu was diverse, creative, and yet simple and familiar.
Service was excellent.
Food was delicious.
We love brunch here
Loved the environment! Great food and impeccable dinner service!
High quality food flavors. Menu options are familiar but premium design. Excellent for a casual date night. Can get noisy later at night, though.
If nothing else the creme brulee is unpassable. Seriously...can I get like a monthly supply of this?
While the restaurant only had a few groups, we waited 1 1/2 hours for our food. Only I ordered the restaurant week prix fix special. The vegetables were scorched, the beans were hard, the dish was represented as a stew but there was no blending of flavors as it was all cooked separately. The lamb component was delicious and tender but unfortunately not enough to carry the entree. The lobster macaroni and cheese was good, the Prime rib for 2 was cold and fatty. The server did her best but the kitchen failed.
Our food was good but the service was not. It took a long time for anyone to take our drink order, a long time for our drinks to arrive, a long time before our food order was taken, a long time before our salads came (they were sitting on the kitchen counter for quite a while), and so on. The restaurant wasn't crowded and this was my first (and last) visit, so I'm not sure if our experience was par for the course or not.
Went to celebrate a birthday and have brunch on Sunday. We arrived and they seated us right away. The server was attentive and got us coffee and the busser brought out the mini bites of coffeecake (a nice touch) to enjoy while we waited for a couple others to arrive. We order the Eggs Benedict (4 of us) and 1 ordered an omelet. The hash browns were nice and crispy and the Benedicts flavor was excellent, but unfortunately they were not hot enough. Seemed like it was left on the pass too long. If it had been hotter, I would have given 5 stars, it tasted that good. I would go back as this was not my first time there and I have not run into this issue before.
Our server took over 30 min just to take our order for apps. I ordered the special of pecan crusted snapper. For $32 I expected more then 3 pieces of white asparagus and 2 over cooked sweet potatoes that were about a finger big. The fish itself was about a 4 oz serving. Very underwhelming. Red stag lists itself as a supper club and yet there is NOTHING supper club about it. No bread. No salad. No friendly smiles. I do not ever need to return to them.
We picked Red Stag because we heard they had a great Friday night fish fry. We were very pleased to see a choice of types of fish (Cod, Walleye, Bluegill). For starters we had the cheese curds which I would highly recommend. For our main course, three of us had Bluegill and one had Walleye. Unfortunately, they were all over cooked and over battered. Had high expectations but were disappointed. Heard several other people around us with similar complaints. Ordered the brussel sprouts as a side and those were very good.
We went for the fish fry, took my Mom who is 87, my sister, husband and my daughter, son in law and 2 year old, very fun night. Service was great, we all loved the fish, esp the chips!
Last minute reservation. We were seated in a timely manner. Ambiance was fine given the occasion. Food was ok. Great server who was very attentive. Would go again!
We sat at the bar while we waited for our table. The bartenders were very nice and the wine was great. Getting to our table we were greeted quickly and the waitress was very attentive. The food came out quickly and it was very good. We got a flank steak and half chicken. Yummy!
We sat near the open kitchen which we loved. The mussels were a delicious appetizer. Our entrees were shrimp scampi and the evening special, red snapper. The whole experience was wonderful with good service and great food.
If you’re going for the food, you’re fine! Not super fancy, can be loud, but decent beer selection and DELICIOUS food.
We have eaten their several times, however we had to ask for the usual crumb cakes, both vegetable hash dishes were cold because we seen them sitting on the server counter for a long time, my waffle and chicken plate had hardly any chicken. I seen others who ordered and they had chicken on the side , this plate as well was somewhat cold. Waiter was not very attentive. Bummer of a visit!
Do not recommend! Party of 4. Once we were seated it was about 10 minutes before a server approached our table. This was definitely the first indication that our experience at Red Stag wasn’t going to be great. When we asked the server what the soup of the day was, she said she didn’t know. She was going to check and come back to let us know. That never happened. It took another 10 minutes to get the cocktails that were ordered. The restaurant was not even very busy as our reservation was at 5:45pm. We then ordered macaroni & cheese and cheese curds as appetizers. Those were both pretty good (the only decent food we had there). We didn’t get our main courses until 7:20pm or so, it took forever! Were the main entrees worth the wait? Not even close. We ordered shrimp scampi, the red snapper special, and two burgers. These entrees tasted like they should’ve been $9.99, not $20-30. Food was terrible. Cold, burnt, and lacking flavor. Overall we just wanted to get our checks and get the hell out of there. Terrible service, food, and dining experience. We will never return to Red Stag.
We came for the Friday fish fry and ate our way to a spectacular desert (chocolate Carmel bread pudding with banana creme). Beer selection was good and the staff was attentive. We’ll be back...
Food was disappointing. We have been to this restaurant many times and tonight was a miss on most items. The soup and chicken were very good.
It took a very long time to get attention from the waitperson. Food was very good but also took a very long time to get. The result was we spent about 1/2 hour or more more than we expected to.
We waited 20 minutes for a table even though there were tables open and we had a reservation. The soup was cold, the beef stroganoff was inedible and their signature cocktails were less that two ounces. An overpriced night out.
Very cozy restaurant/bar. Food is varied and above average. Service has always been great when I have visited. A place for all ages.
Had brunch with my wife, son, daughter in law and grandkids. Fantastic service. Huge portions. Could not have been better.
Red Stag was very nice people were friendly and accommodating. Great drink selection food was very good, not great. Prices are reasonable but a bit on the high end. Not an every weekend kind of place. I will visit again for sure.
I ordered the blue gill fish fry and it was more fry than fish. Didn’t taste like fish at all just the deep fried oil. The cheese curds and smelt were great and the others liked their entré but skip the fish fry.
Red Stag is one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities and probably my favorite brunch spot. Their coffee is amazing, I would go just to get the coffee. The food is great, service is always excellent and the ambiance is lovely.
Red Stag is one of my favorite places in Mpls. I’ve always had great food and outstanding service. Admittedly, this time the food was just as good but the service was lacking. We were celebrating our anniversary and were stuck at a tiny table that was very close to two other couples. It felt like we were dining with strangers. Our waitress was no where to be found most of the time we were there and she didn’t seem very happy to be working.
Out of the many times I’ve been there, this is the first time I’ve left feeling a bit disappointed, so I’ll certainly be back.
