I can’t give this place any type of a good review, because the place was closed on the night for which we had reservations! While it had snowed earlier that day, which I suppose was the reason the place was closed, we were never notified of this, not by the restaurant and not by Open Table. We were deeply disappointed and frustrated. Never again.
Great shrimp and grits!
I had a reservation for 2 people at 7:00 and they were closed. There was another couple that showed up with a reservation only to find out they closed
When we got to the restaurant, it was closed!!!
Open table to our reservation but the restaurant was closed!
Excellent food and service! We ordered the fried chicken with biscuit snd sausage sausage gravy. Would order again!
Enjoyed the outdoor entertainment and good food!
High quality entrées appetizers and side dishes! Creative flair , attention to detail & portions are probably the best in the outer banks (not too much or too little). The staff appeared to enjoy what they do and seem to have good interactions with each other and making the atmosphere pleasant. Our waitress was extremely attentive.. The owner was present to ensure everything is being delivered as it should be. Everything seemed to clean and sanitized . Unfortunately we have to leave the restaurant to go to the shared bathroom in the shopping center which was cold and felt ugly.
If you want any sense of intimacy I would suggest asking to sit in back right corner of the restaurant where better lighting and coziness can somewhat be found. Unfortunately with a packed house we had to sit in the front where lighting was VERY bright, tables and chairs were noisy and wobbly and it felt somewhat like a dining hall. Covid has not helped the situation though and maybe when things get “back to normal” this will change. However, the lighting , acoustics and aesthetics (at least in the front part) need a complete overhaul to match the unmatched & superior quality of the cuisine it deserves.
Our first time there and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly service and good food. Would definitely give them another shot!
The food and service were phenomenal!!
Food was awesome , staff is friendly and on top of everything , great place
Our food was excellent as always!
Had a lovely brunch and delicious brunch cocktails. The kitchen did a superb job!
Great wine recommendations! Our food was outstanding. Everyone was super friendly and made our special night perfect!
As always, the ambiance was lovely. Fresh food, great service.
The food was delicious! And the wine choices were good. An attentive waiter with a good sense of humor!
Food was great! Benets yummy. Steak salad and biscuits tasty too. Only disappointment was weak coffee and a waiter who seemed putout by our presence. He was in a rush for us to order and then brought the check without asking if we wanted dessert so we skipped it and left.
I’d give it a second chance for the food.
The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and how the food was prepared. Great suggestions! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxing.
Food was excellent and not overly crowded with Covid-19 escapees. Our waiter Taylor was well versed in wine selections and food. Looking forward to coming back again. Love Duck, our yearly vacay from Williamsburg, Va.
Very nice meal at Red Sky. Good food and we could eat outside. Nice selection of appetizers and entrees. Had the special scallops oscar. Was looking for a bit more of the asparagus-seemed to be in very tiny pieces. Anyway, all else was just fine. When back in OBX,will most likely return.
Spectacular, as always! Best fried oysters on the East Coast!
Food great, drinks great, and service excellent. Look forward to our next visit.
Food was disappointing and average at best. Server was ok, he was nice, but in terms of service it was subpar. Ambiance was ok.
Outstanding choice for casual dining, service was excellent.
The food and craft cocktails were delightful! The staff was lovely and attentive! And get the Oreo cake!!! One of our favorite dining experiences in the Outer Banks.
Awesome as usual! Taylor makes the best cocktails and pays extra attention to our needs with every visit!!!
We go to Red Sky every year; this year because of social distancing there were fewer diners inside and that actually improved the ambiance - a bit less frantic and noisy. Always excellent food, very good service and very easy reservations - when so many restaurants in Duck and the rest of OBX have abandoned online reservations, we appreciate the option to plan ahead.
The waiter took our food order. Delivered our apps, skipped our salad, my son had no fork for his entree, then charged us double entrees for 3 out of 4 meals. Super uncool and super disappointed. We were really looking forward to revisiting Red Skye.
It was nice. We initially were seated inside but it was freezing and the music loud. We were able to move outside and it was much better. The food was very good but service was compromised due to COVID and the small staff. They tried hard.
I thought the food was delicious. I had the tuna and my boyfriend had the duck. We also enjoyed the scallops as an appetizer. The only thing we did not enjoy was the side order of "southern style" grits. They were very congealed. Otherwise, it was a great meal and we will be back the next time we're in Duck.
Waiters did not keep masks on and musicians outside were worse. Understand not wearing a mask when singing but cane over to our table without mask several times.
Very un comfortable
Enjoyed a great dinner here with friends. Made reservations a week in advance. Table was waiting. Delicious tuna bites and scallops casino appetizers. Enjoyed fried seafood platters and the duck. Service and food top notch!!
Everything was great. Only gave 4 stars for ambiance because it was really chilly in the restaurant. Overall, everything was outstanding. Best weekend brunch in Duck. The libations were top notch, as was the Crab Cake Benedict. We will definitely go back, but I'll bring a cardigan next time.
We usually eat here every year. The service this year was rude, the food was unacceptable. When we complained about two of the dinners (ribs were so rubbery and touch we could not cut them with a steak knife), management was also rude. We will never return after years of eating there.
We were surprised by the changes in the atmosphere, but that's not necessarily a negative. Most importantly, the food is still delicious!
great service, great food, dedicated staff! Impressed as before!
Loved it! Always part of our beach trip to obx.
Truffle Fries! Food was delicious. My daughter loved her seafood tacos, my crab cake sandwich was mostly crab and a little cake. Perfect seasoning. And the siracha Bloody Mary was probably the best I've ever had. Great service, and well done despite COVID-19 restrictions.
Red Sky has become my favorite spot in Duck. Consistently good food and service, and they have some very creative dishes that change over time along with old standby's like shrimp and grits. Having been there several times over the past couple years, it seems the food quality is slightly better when it's less crowded, which is understandable and probably true of most restaurants. The artichoke asiago dip they serve before the meal, which is on the house, is fantastic! Prices are reasonable given the quality, imho. I hope they continue to serve up great food for a long time to come!
Red Sky is a long time favorite that never disappoints. The staff is awesome. Our server, Jack was fantastic. (And quite a funny guy) The open kitchen allowed us to see and hear the magic happening. The high quality ingredients show through on every plate. We will continue to return every time we are in the area.
