We would like to thank everyone that made our celebratory experience special. A very special thanks to Elanore, Gary and Big Daddy Dane for their exemplary professionalism. A our compliments to the Chef that made lamb chops and Black pepper salmon to die for. The Red Salt Room is a culinary delight that you must experience.

Our sons 19th birthday. The attention to detail was perfect. The entire staff was inviting and personable.
Christine waited on us and she was spectacular! She recommended every dish we each had and was on point with everything!

Steven also took care of our drinks and that too was perfect.

Thanks for the great experience!
We will absolutely be back. I’ve already sent the feedback to many of my friends.

The service was outstanding! The wait staff was so attentive and thoughtful. The food was excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or even just a nice night out with friends.

They didn't tell me that Fridays were buffet only. Ordering off the menu is not an option. We wound up eating in the bar. The food was very good. Service was good. They tried to accommodate us as best they could.

Food was edible but that’s about it..... been there 3 times now and each time I leave I ask myself why would anybody dine at this place except if your staying there and want convenience and don’t mind grossly overpaying for a meal...

Dinner was great! Wine was great! Dessert was amazing! For some reason our server did not tell us what other servers were telling other tables. They explain about their steaks and how they are aged in the salt I think? I just overhead and was a little disappointed in that. I also felt a little rushed when I was finishing my food.

Candied Bacon on a Clothesline is a must-have! It is absolutely delicious and it definitely makes for a memorable dining experience. The service was impeccable throughout the evening and our server, Andres, was helpful and knowledgeable in providing options and information for an allergy restricted diet. All of our meals were spot-on in flavor and presentation (Ginger Pepper Salmon entree, Roasted Eggplant entree, kid's burger and kid's mac & cheese). Magically delicious! Thank you for a fantastic birthday celebration!

You can never go wrong with any restaurant in the Garden City Hotel. They make you feel extremely special, never rush you and are very accommodating.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, although it could be served hotter. Our waiter Steven was terrific. He was warm, pleasant, informative and attentive.

Although there was a couple of small issue the server Steven was fantastic and Michael the manager was a true professional. My steak was definitely over cooked and my daughter filet was cooked unevenly but it didn’t take away from the excellent flavor and quality!!! I would highly recommend this restaurant and will give it another shot.

This is the restaurant I chose to use my open table reward for except they erased my reservation when we checked in. Was treated like I made this up. Food was good not great. But service is terrible for an upscale restaurant. David Burke should stop in and train his staff. A lovely evening was turned into total aggravation
They should be embarrassed.

This was an amazing restaurant from start to finish. Cocktails were delicious and well balanced. Wine list was excellent. Food and food presentation was Manhattan standard. Would go back again!

First review I’ve ever written on any site. Where to start? Booked in advance. Purposely to avoid a terrible vday prix fixe menu. After living in nyc for 20 years before moving to LI and enjoying DB original location, was looking forward to having some of his classic dishes again. Even though our meal occurred 2 days after vday, they imposed the mandatory menu anyway- without letting us know until we got there. Service was bad (took our drinks away before we were halfway done), entrees were minuscule- my wife’s was actually offensive. Had to go out to eat after this dinner. Dessert for two was a throwaway. Totally mailed it in. To top it all off, they added the tip automatically- for a party of two. I actually tipped more (20%) than what they added. Had to call restaurant to remove the second tip. More annoyed with this place than any other time i can remember. Would have easily and gladly spent more on a la carte menu then what we would up spending on the awful set menu. Most poorly conceived and executed prixe fixe I have ever seen- and I have seen many- at all price points. Feel totally taken advantage of but left without talking to manager. Only because i had to call for my tip reimbursement did i say anything to them. Just a complete debacle and a ruined vday. Looking forward to the BS response from the manager offering for us to come back in and give them another try....

What happened?!? We first went to Red Salt Room when it opened last summer and had a delicious dinner, but went back this past Friday 2/15 and it was absolutely awful!!! I can only equate it to a bad hotel banquet dinner - the kind where they are churning out 300 meals of rubber chicken and steak. First of all, even though it was a day after Valentines Day, we were forced to order off of their "special" prix fixe dinner which was a complete rip off - had I known when making my reservation we wouldn't have done it. Anyway, we were there, we had the babysitter, so we stayed since we had such a great meal previously and were excited for the special selections the waiter described. Let me say, the prix fixe was $85pp++, yet we had to split an appetizer, split a dessert, and there was only 1 steak selection as part of the menu - mind you this is a steakhouse!! If you wanted a traditional steak it was an extra $10, and all sides were also an additional $10. Fine, it was pricey, but wouldn't have minded had the food lived up to expectations but it didn't even come close.
We started off with the bacon on a clothesline which is their speciality, however we found it chewy and unappealing. I then ordered their special "Steak Diane" that they were pushing which was a 6oz filet. It was awful! It was gamey and dry like it had been sitting under heat lamps all night. My husband had the rib eye, also ordered medium, and it was charred! The sides of mashed potato and creamed spinach were nothing special. Then for dessert, which we also had to share, we got the strawberry shortcake that the waiter was pushing. It was basically a yellow cake with some kind of buttercream or cream cheese filling with maybe 5 strawberry slices on top. We had a bite each and pushed it away. We told our waiter we were unhappy be he didn't seem concerned and just brought us our bill.
Let me just say, this was the worst $350 meal I've ever had and we will not be going back!!! Such a disappointment.

If I were to put a tagline to this restaurant it would be, "NYC prices and attitude, without the NYC food and quality to back it up". The only plus here was the service. To start it off, they only offered a $85 prix fix menu because of valentines day. This presented several issues for us. First my wife is allergic to fish and of the four appetizers available, two had fish and one could only be ordered if both people ordered it. So we didn't have a choice of app. we asked to change the beet salad (who only offers one salad and it has beets?) to another salad and despite offering substitutions for allergies and dietary preferences (e.g. vegan) we were told no substitutions permitted. Next, all of the steaks on the menu required an up charge of $10 and no sides were included so add another $10 per person there. Not exactly sticking to the concept of prix fix here... Finally, most of the desserts were "for two" once again limiting the actual options. Not the end of the world, but when you couldn't get what you wanted for appetizers or main course, it seemed to be a fitting little final twist. To top it all off, my wife's steak was extremely under cooked and the glass of house red was 6 dollars more than the top shelf martini i had. My steak wasn't bad, but it didn't live up to the presentation. I consider it sacrilegious to use any sauces on a steak, but i found myself needing the crutch to finish mine. We figured we would give this place a shot since we typically frequent Capital Grille or the north shore steakhouses and this is in our backyard (almost literally). Very disappointing. Either they need to step up their game, or start charging prices consistent with the product. We could have gone to our regulars for less and been far more satisfied. Live and Learn.

It was our Anniversary and Valentine’s day celebration. We had an appointment for 9pm but they were overbooked and delayed by 15/20 mins. which was tolerable. The hostess was pleasant enough to find us a seat sooner than that. However..... after we sat, it took the waitress 30mins to take our order. Then they brought out the main course before we even got the appetizers (which were already waiting another 30 mins for). All in all, I spent $386 and 2hrs. (Only 30 mins of dining - took the desert to go) for great food and poor service.

I will think twice before dining here again.

This us a disgrace to David Burke's name. Horrible service. Didn't give us plates for bread. Didn't offer water for my husband. Pre fix menu that was prepared probably yesterday. No a la carte options. My dish 'lobster and scallops' had 3 tiny scallops and a piece of lobster size of a small shrimp. Had to wait half hour each time we asked for something. They added themselves gratuity which we argued about. No way was gonna leave them 20 % tip.The only good thing was the lolly pop tree desert which we get in all of DB restaurants. We love Fishtale and Town House as well as The Kitchen. This was...I don't know what. I was embarrassed that I brought my husband there. Avoid!!!!

Reservation was for the resturant but they put us in the bar area which was disappointing. Valentines set menu was over priced for quality of food. Food was not hot. Had to return my fish because it was not hot at all. Second time was lukewarm. Side dishes were lukewarm at best. Service was sub-par so different from the first time we went.

We have been to Red Salt several times and have always enjoyed the experience. However, for Valentine's Day when I made the reservation I was unaware that it was Pre Fixe. The portions were small and it was terribly overpriced for what we were served. Our server was excellent and the ambiance etc. was good.

Very unorganized, the staff was pleasant, yet not trained. I blame the manager and chef for not educating wait staff on service and on the food choices. Computer seating was poorly done. Although the place was empty, 6PM reservations, we waited at least 5 min for them to find our reservation and when they finally did we waited again until they figured out where to seat us. They sat us in the bar area, although I made the reservation 5 weeks in advance in the dinning room - they insisted it was all the same menu and service so we settled in the bar dinning area (after we saw the dining room of tiny and cramped tables, so the bar room was actually a better choice).
The food was good, yet not exceptional; we expected to be impressed and were mildly disappointed (good thing my date is beautiful and provided enough distraction).
We sat by the fireplace with romantic lighting, then all of the sudden, someone turned up the lights over our table.
We mentioned it to a waiter who noticed and she said it must have been an accident, she went to the switch and dimmed it again to match the rest of the room. Five minutes later, I noticed a manager by the switch and again he turned it up which made no sense to me why he would want one area brighter than the rest of the room.
When the bill came, it was a little more than I expected, so upon examination I noticed a tip was included. We were only 2 people and didn’t expect that they would include the tip and not advise us it was done. (They lost out because I would have typically tipped more).
So my advice to David Burke is that he should spend some time here to straighten things out.

This was my third time at the Red Salt Room. We went for brunch on Sunday for my sisters Bday. The food selection was amazing! All that was missing was crab legs lol. I would attend brunch there every Sunday if I could. Everyone is helpful to the valet to the host to the waiter and the chefs!! All amazing!!

We were a party of 4 for my husband's birthday. I had made a 9:00 reservation. We were finally seated at 9:50. Upon placing our order we were told that the last order of clothesline candied bacon had been sold.....the PRIMARY reason the restaurant was selected for this particular birthday. Although we were compensated with a complementary dessert the late hour and disappointment about the bacon soured the entire evening.

We were seatEd 45 minutes late for our reservation My biggest issue with this place was not the wAit time, but the poor attitude of the hostess and general manager in handling this situation. When we inquired as to when we would be seated and how they would remedy the situation both responded with a blasé attitude and told us they understood, but we should expect this on a Saturday night. We spent 10 minutes telling them they should comp us in some way to show thy value their patrons and their time with free drinks or apps or some similar gesture until they finally capitulated and got us a round of drinks. When we finally were seated the food was delicious and the service was top notch. To add insult to injury, though, the food and beverage manager came over to us right after our food arrived to argue with us why such a wait should be expected on a Saturday night. We actually had to ask him to leave our table so we could finally enjoy our long overdue meal. We were not the only ones to have this experience. Their was a 70-year-Old man who was speaking to the manager before us. He was there to celebrate his 70th birthday and had to wait and hour. The management and hostess need to be retrained or replaced and this would be a place I would frequent. Otherwise, I can’t recommend this place. Too many other choices...:
