There were so many choices for brunch plus the food was excellent. Also, the atmosphere was excellent for an early morning date. Would definitely go back again.
Everything was perfect- from the service, to the wine, to the food! We will definitely return!!
Recommended by friends and always looking for a new experience. Red Salt Room did not disappoint. It was a week-night but the restaurant was 1/2 full so not noisy and good service. Very expansive menu and everything was delicious. The portions were on the smaller side and prices are on the higher end but the space and the food are great!
Celebrated our 25th anniversary with our kids ! Got married at the Garden City Hotel 25 years afo. The restaurant really made it special for us.
I was looking forward to my birthday dinner here. When I was seated, I was shocked it was so loud.. I could not hear myself. I wanted to leave. JC the waiter read my mind and moved us to a quiet place. He was excellent. great service really great.. I would not return because of the noise level.. the food was good but a bit overrated.. wine list ok, but could have better choices.
I do completely understand that events come up but, our seating was at 9pm and didn't get seated till 9:35 and I had to go to the hostess to push. No manager came by an apology and that was that. The meal was good; bacon app was great as were the steaks but, they were out of the rye I was drinking mid way through the meal and they were out of the desert we ordered. I know this place is new so I'm not going to completely kill the place.
Went to the GC Hotel for a special occasion. The King Bar was very nice and comfortable. Great drinks and good staff. The restaurant was good but not great. The layout/seating were odd and the noise level was insane. I have never been in a restaurant so loud in my life. I could barely hear a word across the table. The food however was mostly good. We liked the dumpling appetizer, fish and steak. The potato was a bit under cooked. Baked Alaska was delicious and fun - flambe table side. Overall we had a good enough time and made no complaints. At the end of the meal the manager came over and apologized for the noise stating he would be changing the layout of the room and making improvements to make it quieter. He urged us to come back and try it again and even comped us the appetizer and dessert. The service was good. We had a nightcap at the Patio bar which was lovely.
Great food - candied bacon on a clothesline and the pretzel crusted crab cake appetizers were outstanding. However, the restaurant is loud. The manager told us that they were "taking care of the issue" - getting new furniture (soft) and other things. I hope they do because it would be a shame that they don't succeed simply because of the noise level.
Food was great!! Service was good.. didnt love the ambience. The room lacked character and warmth.
food great service great sound level overbearing by the time we we got the check we could not wait to leave.
It was very noisy. Seats were not comfortable. Food was good. Short rib dumplings were great as well as the bacon. Steak was very tender but needed some seasoning
Disappointed with the ambience. They had an issue with their chairs, and were using substitute chairs from hotel ballroom. They need to address the acoustics - there is nothing to absorb the sound and it just bounces off the walls. Our server was in the habit of bending down to speak to us from the high noise level (and place was not packed on a Thursday night). Porterhouse for two was tasty, but a little overdone. Overall I had high expectations and it fell a little short.
We enjoyed our meal but the duck was a little salty and did not need so much chutney as it was tasty enough. The wait staff was outstanding. We had David as our waiter. The Béarnaise sauce on my husbands steak was salty too. The couple next to us were having the bacon on a clothesline which I thought was disgusting to look at. (and I am a meat eater). Did not like the décor at all. Did not like the salt hanging nor the chairs. The ubiquity of the chef's name throughout - bar, restaurant and patio bar was a bit too much. All in all it was an okay experience. Did really enjoy the bar and the staff was excellent.
Unreal place. Great food. Awesome atmosphere. One of the best I have been too in my travels in the Northeast
Both the taste and presentation of the food is unusual,
mostly to it’s credit.
The ambiance is akin to high school cafeteria. The decor isn’t. The overall feel is high school cafeteria, circa 1970 The noise level adds to the cafeteria atmosphere especially with the music used to cover the noise.
Great food. Very very noisy, could not hear people at table talk.
We had high hopes for this restaurant. Unfortunately we were disappointed in the food and overall atmosphere. With so many excellent places to dine out on Long Island, this would not be on our list of spots to return to.
This place is a gem. Everyone in Nassau County knows that the Garden City Hotel is just a beautiful venue, but with the addition of Chef David Burke’s touch on the eats it has been elevated to a foodie’s destination. I only experienced the King’s Bar for pre-dinner drinks and The Red Salt Room for dinner and dessert. Used OpenTable to make reservations which did not look like it was necessary mid week but would probably be a must on weekends. Everyone at the host/hostess stands were beyond sweet, interested in helping you. Felt welcomed for sure. The Snozzberry Martini is a must. Thank you for the recommendation at the King’s Bar!
Dinner at The Red Salt Room was just a great experience as well! The menu is limited to some really interesting choices. Our server was so awesome - she gave us some excellent descriptions, recommendations for each course, even wine pairing by the glass as they don’t have a sommelier (I don’t think they do wines by the bottle either) but that’s ok! I have to go back because there are other items on the menu that I just have to try! Perfect for special occasions (we did birthday) and a special night out (date night). Foodie paradise. The flavor of chef’s aged steaks are unparalleled in Nassau County and we’ve hit up most big name/highly recommended steakhouses. Something different, so I can understand why the prices are what they are - worth every penny.
Try the Surf and Turf Dumplings. I’m going back for the Candied bacon appetizer - so creative and smelled amazing! We never felt rushed and the food came at a perfect pace for us. From seating to check we were there for 2.5 hours and enjoyed every minute. Thank you to everyone for a great experience! Highly recommended. Just go!
It's a beautiful Hotel a lot it's been remodeled the food and ambiance it's great the waiters are great (J C )it's a must.
My partner and I decided to dine at red salt room and it was an amazing experience. From the very first moment we stepped into the restaurant until we left, we were greeted by a genuinely friendly staff that could not do enough to make us feel welcomed. We were called by our names at all times by our server Jasser and the rest of the staff and I have to admit such personable service is not found just anywhere. Jasser was very professional and knowledgeable at the same time he managed not to seem as a soulless robot. With that being said, nothing at Red Salt was better than the food. The pretzel crusted crab cake and the surf and turf dumplings were exceptionally exquisite. Well balanced flavors at all times, well paired with different sauces it was just perfection. Next we ordered the porterhouse for two and we couldn’t get enough of it which lead us to think that was the highlight of the night. At least that’s what we thought, until we ordered dessert. At this point we were perfectly satisfied so we decided to share the fig apple tart. Probably the best decision we’ve made since we decided not to meet each-others family. The experience overall was worth every penny. I would definitely go back sooner than later.
Excellent service and food. Atmosphere was noisy and casual.
Branzino too salty
Could leave out pickled carrots
Nice touch... berries and cookies
Fantastic in every aspect of my experience at this restaurant
expected something much better. the service, however, was outstanding. Steak VERY salty. did not have a whole fish.
Food was outstanding!
Bacon appetizer excellent!
Steak for two excellent!
Baked potato with lobster tail outstanding!
Service top notch. Professional and friendly!
Décor absolutely beautiful as well!
We will definitely be back!
The name David Burke on a restaurant connotes something special, fine dining at the highest level. Sadly the Red Salt Room is not up to the chef's reputation. Imprecise service, a noise level that makes conversation impossible and food that while good fails to wow makes this a restaurant easily passed up.
Food was excellent. As good if not better than any top Manhattan restaurant. Love, love, love the bacon. Will definitely come back
Anticipated a find dining experience. The décor was more cafeteria than upscale restaurant. The food was fair, nothing stood out. Kind of disappointed. Service was good.
Delicious especially the garlic spinach and broccoli. I would have liked a smaller size filet - 12 oz is too much.
Extremely noise and acoustic were horrible. The waiters had to repeat everything to every table. The bar next door (commected) had a horrible singer. The bar patrons walked through the Red Salt Room in crappy shorts, tshirts, and converse. Patrons of The Red Salt Room gentleman had blazers on and women were dressed elegantly. Filet Mignon cooked to order was delicious. Unfortunately, $10.00 for four cut asparagus was ridiculous. Red potato, couscous, brocolli, and a carrot would have been deserving next to a $42.00 entre. Maybe a plain bread added to the two assorted ones. One had cranberry walnut and the other was garlic, ?, and parmesan. I could not hear the ingredients when the server brought itthe table. The waiters walked in between every table which was very zig zag and maze like. Some tables were on a diagonal. FYI Need to rethink movement of service instead of meandering as if a snake in a garden.
We are foodies and we dine out a lot. We are also experienced David Burke devotees, so we looked forward to this dining experience with our friends.
Upon entry, the restaurant is beautiful and very attractive. The salt wall is impressive and suggests an atmosphere that contradicts the welcoming. What le the David king room is attractive at first blush, the overwhelming acoustical problem challenges patrons’ ability to truly enjoy the extraordinary menu and presentation.
As a party and f four we were original nelly seated at a table large enough for eight. We were so far apart that we found ourselves needing to yell across the table to hear each other. Needless to say, we requested a smaller table which was provided after a brief visit to the King Bar, which was equally as noisy, despite a very “light” crowd. It should also be noted that the two women at the podium seemed really thrown and challenged by our request, which may be reflective of their limited experience, but certainly not their lack of resources. It took the assist of Manager Gary to resolve, and we were grateful that he was there.
Cocktails were amazing and cleverly presented as were appetizers, mains, sides and desserts. EVERYTHING we ordered was absolutely delicious. Starting with the toasted bread assortment, which we devoured 3 times over, was truly delectable. The crab cakes were the best we’ve ever had, as were the salads, steak, duck, and angry lobster.
Overall, we would love to return again and again as we are great fans of David Burke, his talents, creativity and artistry. We’ll be happy to do so if/when something is done to douse the extraordinary noise level that makes it nearly impossible to converse with others at your table.
Enjoyed our meal and ambiance at Red Salt Room. The candied bacon on a clothesline is a must try appetizer for bacon lovers! Nice selection of fish options for those who are not meat eaters.
Enjoyed the entire dining experience
Requested a quiet corner and was seated at a table tucked away from most. Pleasant service at a relaxed pace. Interesting apps, surf &turf dumplings - recommended by our server, didn’t disappoint. Steaks were tasty but our different order temps were mixed up / my filet was Med instead of MR and Husb Rib Eye was MR instead of Med... we didn’t send any back but I’m sure we’d have given 5 stars if our orders had come correct.
Fun dessert cheesecake pops - highly recommended!
We’d return for another try.
Chairs need to be updated-other then that the room is Beautiful
Too much noice.
Excellent except the sushi... expected more in relation to other foods, avoid sushi, not better than Whole Foods.
Great brunch with every item you can think of! Have been here several times and are never disappointed. The quality is superior as is the service. We took our friend who is visiting from overseas and she took pics of everything especially the chocolate tower! LOL Can't wait to come back!
Terrible atmosphere. Loud. We were screaming to each other.
Service unbelievable. Waiter used the same glass when tasting wine AND there was still some of the first wine in the glass. Poor.
I have been to many David Burke restaurants and have never been disappointed. Always found his food and atmosphere to be creative with good service. Was excited to try Red Salt since it is so close to home. It was totally underwhelming with poor service and stale decor.
I truly hope it improves and succeeds because LI needs a restaurant that David Burke usually delivers.
