It breaks my heart to give a bad review to one of Marcus Samuelsson's restaurants, and our prior dining experience there was fantastic. But our experience at last Sunday's Gospel Brunch was such a disappointment. I was embarrassed to have recommended it to our guests. Top complaint is the value: $85 per person (!!) for a plate or two of semi-warm buffet food, slow beverage service, a show that started late, and an overall gimmicky feel made for a very lousy outing.

This restaurant has a welcoming upbeat vibe. The hostess was welcoming and sat us before our reservation time. Our waiter was knowable and very attentive. He also made our dinner fun. We ordered drinks and enjoyed a Harlem Mule and a nice Malbec. The food was excellent. We started will deviled eggs and the recommended cornbread , both were delicious .Our entrees were shrimp and grits, a lobster roll and we shared a large bowl of collard greens. Our other entree was fried chicken which came with mac and greens. Everyone enjoyed there meal. We finished with a fantastic pine apple cake. Overall this was an amazing experience. We would definitely return.

I really feel this restaurant went down since its opening. I felt the menu overly simplistic and even the fried chicken was not memorable. I will not come back.
