Red Rocks Cafe - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten at Red Rocks for many years and always enjoy the food but this meal experience was really exceptional especially with the service. We requested a booth and got a nice one in a corner not too noisy. Our waiter, Zach, was wonderful and very friendly. He even brought us bread which was a surprise since we did not realize they had bread there. He was the best! The calamari, salads, entrees, and desserts were all so good. Everything was delicious and the experience was bar none.
3 of the dinners were undercooked. Upon being served raw chicken we had to request for it to be cooked. No taste whatsoever. Ribs were burnt for one person in our party. Spinach artichoke dip was cold and clumped not hot and creamy. We had a terrible experience and this was for my husbands birthday. They corrected the 4 plates but it made a not so pleasant night. Manager came back to check on the new plates but that’s it. Maybe the cooks were new this night or just rushing. Food was tasteless.
I selected Red Rocks for my company Christmas dinner as I wanted a special place that was casual but nice and offered a lot of choices. I had not been to Red Rocks in about 6 months so I was really looking forward to eating there. I must say...I'm disappointed overall in the experience. We had a group of 5 and we started with the special appetizer of the night, Buffalo Chicken dip, and the Shrimp Cocktail. The shrimp was good but the dip was very bland...we all added Tobasco sauce to the dip...not to make it hot but to make it have flavor. The shrimp was fine...nothing over the top about it but nothing bad. For our main course, 4 of the 5 of us ordered beef...3 filets and 1 ribeye and the 5th ordered the nightly special which was Swordfish. My filet (the Jimmy Johnson) came with mashed potatoes that were extremely dry, the asparagus had too much oil on them and the filet was pretty tasteless although it was cooked to my temperature and was tender. I had to add Heinz 57 to the meat to help it which is a real no-no with a quality cut such as a filet. I asked everyone else about their meals and they had the same comment on the filets, the ribeye got a good review and the swordfish was "bland, dry and didn't have much flavor". We did order desserts and those were very good - the chocolate cake, the peppermint cheesecake and a pie that had a few layers of mousse. Our server was excellent and stayed on top of our needs so no complaints there. I just always remember the food being outstanding at Red Rocks and on this night it was completely off. I did not ask to speak with the manager and make a big issue out of it with everyone sitting there as we were all trying to enjoy our night and it was a little embarrassing for me..... this was a special occasion to thank my employees for all their hard work and I didn't want to cloud the moment. My hope is Red Rocks had an off night and that the food will go back to being great.
Our #1 place to dine. Food & service has never disappointed. Servers are always prompt to our table, very attentive without being annoying, and we are amazed how the kitchen has our salads/food/desserts timed perfectly. Managers always in view. We especially enjoy talking to Jeff (Manager) who we met when he was a server. Genuinely personable & attentive.
We have enjoyed dining at Red Rocks-Southpark & seeing familiar staff faces over the years. Try the Halibut (when it is offered) or the Salmon, you will NOT be disappointed.
Server was very attentive and answered any question regarding the menu selection. However, the quality of the food was not as good as it has been in the past. Chicken was cooked well, but the potatoes were a bit bland and almost cold. Price was a little high for the quality.
While the food was good, I was VERY disappointed in the accommodations especially after making specific reservations through OpenTable for a handicapped guest AND after the hostess verbally confirmed my reservation and request. When we arrived I was advised by the hostess we had to wait to be seated for a booth (which is what I requested) and it would be an undetermined amount of time. However, I could have a table now which is what I didn’t want for my handicapped guest. I might add the hostess was quite rude about the matter too. So I guess Red Rocks doesn’t care about making accommodations for the handicapped and the hostess staff doesn’t care either!!!!!! Sadly disappointed in the entire situation!!!!!!!!! While my review states I would recommend to a friend/family I would stress not to go if you require specific accommodations!!!!!!!!!
Red Rocks is a great neighborhood restaurant. While part of a chain, there is no chain feel. The dining experience is obviously very important to the managers. Our food tonight was very good. The chicken saltimbocca was excellent. The "Southern Salad" had some of the best chicken tenders I've ever had. Our service was excellent as well. This is a perfect place for a casual evening meal.
This was our first visit. I was very disappointed with my meal. My husbands meal was very good, he had the special with scallops and shrimp. I ordered the NY strip with Brussels sprouts. The steak was mediocre with very little seasoning. Same with the Brussels sprouts. They were undercooked, almost hard, with very little flavor. We chose Red Rocks based on a recommendation from a friend as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I would potentially go again but would not order a steak again. The service was excellent. We were in and out in 45 minutes.
Are usually eat at the Huntersville location but since it's been closed we decided to try the Charlotte location for my birthday. I was not as impressed with our appetizer of calamari as it was kind of cold and my sides weren't as good as they usually are!!!
It was a visit for my birthday so it was a little disappointing
