Red Rocks Cafe - Charlotte
The food was delicious, the server was very attentive, but it was SO noisy, we couldn’t carry on a normal voice conversation. If you want a nice, relaxing, quiet evening, this is not the place to go for dinner.
I've been twice since the refurbishment and I have to say I'm a little disappointed. It's dark and unwelcoming, industrial looking and the noise from the overhead music was so loud, we had to raise our voices to be heard. Menu is the same in those dirty folders. Won't return if I don't have to
Pleasant ambiance good service amazing food diverse menu good quiet evening only downside the restaurant lighting at our table was dark otherwise moderately priced restaurant will definitely return
We’ve been to the location in Birkdale Village and really enjoyed it. We had been waiting for the reopening to go in for the lobster linguine and salad with buffalo chicken and of course their coconut cake. The only thing that didn’t disappoint was the cake. Service was very slow and then the first bad news- no lobster linguine. Finally decided on the four cheese penne after a warning from the server about how cheesy it was, which was more like a selling point to us! Husband ordered a salad with the buffalo fried chicken and daughter ordered the Black ended shocker croissant.
About 15 min later the server comes out to say they have no croissants. He did not bring a menu just offered white or rye bread. She chose white but was bummed. At this time I asked if they could still try to make the lobster pasta but with angel hair pasta instead of linguine since I saw on the menu that they still had both lobster and angel hair pasta. After a long wait the server came back to say that no that couldn’t because they don’t have lobster or linguine. Even though they have two other dishes on the menu with lobster and angel hair pasta o just dropped it. But was annoyed. Then the food came- there was NO cheese in my cheese sauce, only the light sprinkle of cheese on top. Disappointing. The buffalo sauce on my husband’s salad was SWEET. Another bummer.
The worst though was when the bill came and I was upcharged $2 for shrimp and husband $1 for buffalo sauce. However if were nickel and diming- o credit for my daughter’s missing croissant! Another dish had a $1 upcharge for shrimp so it seemed odd to be overcharged for the same. And then to charge for buffalo sauce? That just came across very cheap.
We’ll definitely give this place plenty of time for the new staff to get up to speed before returning or maybe just forego this location altogether and go to birkdale village instead.
Waited for the renovations to be completed. Went for my mothers 95th birthday and they made it special!
I always get the chicken saltimboca and it wasn't quite as before, Maybe they changed the chef, the recipe but I will still go back and try another dish!
Great restaurant. The service was quick and very efficient, the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious!! I asked for extra crispy bacon on my sandwich and they did it just right. Got tater tots on the side w/ ranch dressing and they were excellent. Brought my side if ranch out with my meal, didn't have to ask for it again b/c they remembered to bring it with the meal. The ambiance, service, and food were all excellent. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Red Rocks continues to be the best, most consistent restaurant in the area, they always have great food and smiling people, my kids even ask to come here
Just had an appetizer and dessert. I had the best carrot cake I have ever eaten! The brusetta was very good to.
I have been dining at this restaurant since 2004. I love it, and have always had good service. The only reason I gave it before was because this was the first time my server was not engaging. It seemed as if he didn’t want to be there and I’ve never experienced this before in the 14 years that I have been a patron
I had the salmon with dill sauce. This is the 2nd time I've been to this restaurant and the salmon wasn't quite as good as the last time....not enough flavor to the sauce but still a very good dish. They will be closing next week for some renovations, I think for a week. Hopefully they won't change the ambiance, since it's a very charming place. They have been at the same location for 26 years! I understand the whole shopping center will be closing for a period of time to redo the driveways, etc. So check before you go. They will also be opening a location in Indian Land in August. Hope it's just as good AND with the same decor.
I have been to Red Rock on several occasions and I have yet to disappointed. The menu is extensive with all the different choices you could want. I usually get a seafood dish and the Chet Snow Salmon is my favorite. The desert choices are decadent with large portions that can be shared. The food is delicious and the appetizers are great.
Friends were in from out of town to celebrate their wedding anniversary and Red Rocks is always our first restaurant to introduce friends to. As always food, atmosphere and service was awesome!
Red Rocks has been at this location for many years. It has a good variety of dishes very well prepared. And the value is good. There is nothing that is a negative; no wait, the parking lot is sometimes quite full. They now take reservations which is nice if you drive across town to visit. A favorite of ours.
The meal was awesome! Our waitress was attentive and had great recommendations. We arrived early for our reservation and they were able to accommodate us immediately. The manager stopped by our table twice to make sure everything was going well. Food was prepared perfectly, as usual. Definitely a great place! We’ll be back soon!
We are relatively new to N.C. and just learned about red rocks! We tried the huntersville location first and were ecstatic to learn there is also a Charlotte location!!! We went just for dessert this time because we’d actually already eaten somewhere else when we found out about the Charlotte location! We were so excited we went for dessert! It was worth rolling out of there beyond stuffed. Our favorite is the coconut cake which is absolutely amazing and we also tried the red velvet which was excellent as well. They are going through a remodel and we’re excited to make this a frequent stop in the future. We’re already thinking of that coconut cake!!!!!!
Always a good go-to option. Wide variety of offerings on menu, and the food and service are always friendly and good.
We really enjoyed our dining experience. It was a very comfortable and quiet setting. Also impressed on how attentive our waitress was. Food was delicious.
Loved our dining experience at Red Rocks! Food, service and atmosphere were great. It was a little dark in there, so maybe some candles on the table would be in order?
Great as always!
Food was good and service great
Food, Pasta Primo and Crab Cake were outstnding. Service was very attentive and good. Ron
Second time here. Food was great, service was good. I ordered twin petite filets, medium, I would suggest medium rare next time.
Overall a great experience and a great menu. Don’t forget to get dessert which is awesome.
Great place to hang out outside Charlotte
One of the best waitresses I’ve ever had.
I was a little upset that the kitchen runner brought the cesear salad & she-crab soup to wrong table then walked up to the waitress to confirm delivery. The waitress informed runner that it was wrong table the runner picked up the food and brought it to our table for US to eat. NOT Happy they did not even offer to replace the food!!! Then entrees tasted like frozen peas & carrots with overcooked filet. Very disappointed.
Went to Red Rocks, one of our favorite places, to celebrate Mother’s Day a week late, because RR had a very pricey fixed price menu on Mother’s Day.
First, we (party of 6) we’re stuck in a back room along with a VERY large party (15 or 16 people) as the only other table. Excuse me for making a reservation.
Then, two of our orders were wrong—a pasta dish that was supposed to have shrimp had chicken instead, and something ordered as a sandwich arrived as a salad. Also, I had the blackened chicken croissant sandwich, and the bottom half of the croissant was completely soggy.
The service was very slow, and we waited and waited for drink refills, for which we had to flag down our waitress. Then we waited and waited for our check, which, when it arrived, still had the seafood pasta dish on it, though our friend had agreed to settle for the less expensive chicken version. Got the corrected bill fairly quickly, then waited and waited again to pay it. One of us finally got up and went to find someone to take our payment.
Too bad, because we have loved this place in the past.
Good selection of lunch items. Nathan was our server. Took care of us well while we visited for quite a while.
Red Rocks never disappoints. Menu is large enough to please everyone and food is always great. Service is fantastic.
Came for bookclub and had a great dinner and discussion
We love Red Rocks. It’s probably our favorite restaurant in town. The service is always great and Sunday night was no exception. Jenny was attentive but not overbearing. Great dinner.
The Reuben and Chicken saltimboca were very good, but my wife's chicken tenders/fingers were pretty awful because they were so heavily breaded. I took a good-sized bite and got only fried bread, no chicken. Tell RR to lighten up on the breading. Otherwise the service was great and RR lives up to its reputation as a good neighborhood venue for our family special occasions.
Great Mothers Day Dinner.
This has become my favorite place to eat in Charlotte.
Food wass great and service is always excellent!
Mother’s Day brunch was very good. The restaurant was very busy and the staff handled it well. The food on the pre fixed menu was excellent. Only disappointment was that at 12:30 pm they were out of cheese cake. That said I highly recommend Red Rocks
We made a reservation for Mother's Day after checking their website only to get there and find out it was affixed menu for $35-$40-per head. NO mention of a fixed menu on their website. Total Bait and switch and very pricey and limited for lunch with our kids! If they were going to have a fixed menu , we should have known. Very disappointed. I won't be recommending this place to anyone. Sad too because their regular menu looked great.

We had a very nice Mother’s Day brunch.
Mother’s Day weekend
Great food options, dress was relatively casual (many in shorts and polos) despite the prices being a little higher.
