Red Rocks Cafe - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
We used to live near Red Rock, but has been several years since we have dined. The interior visually looks cramped, but we had no issue with noise. The food was good, but a little over priced vs. eating at a place like Sullivan's or other upper end steak house. Service was outstanding and the management staff was very engaged with the customers. Good place for a date night, but you will spend $60-80 for drinks and an entrée.
Not happy, paid $8 for kids buttered noodles, like are you kidding me? They used so much butter to, the noodles were swimming. The serve brunch on Sunday but the kids have no choice. One of my kids wanted french toast and the only option was an adult portion. I asked if they would be able to do a half portion and they just flat out said no. I will not be returning and don't recommend this place. The food is grossly overpriced, especially the kids meals. Completely unsatisfied and very disappointed. :-(
You can usually count on Red Rocks for lovely specials, good food, and great service, but occasionally they disappoint. This was one of those occasions when our waitress just couldn't seem to get things right. The manager attempted, but then one filet mignon came out undercooked and the other overcooked. What do you do?! We were also disappointed to find that the kitchen is "too busy" to split orders, and we had to be our own chefs and servers at the table on account of it. I had expected better of a first class restaurant.
RedRocks is our go-to place for date night, it's dependably good. We almost always get the chef's special, whatever that is. This week the risotto side dish was ok but not great, but everything else was just what you'd want - salmon done perfectly, lovely presentation, great wait staff, good house wines, all within a pleasant ambiance. Making reservations ahead added to the easy-peasy stress-free experience.
WOW- really disappointed in all aspects of this meal. Bruschetta bread so dense felt I was cracking a tooth (we’ve had bruschetta before), mussels okay but not the flavorful broth expected, dressing for spinach salad coagulated and too thick, boiled egg had a gray ring from not being properly chilled. Crab cakes were good- redeeming element of meal. Vegetables underwhelming. Too many good places in Charlotte to eat here again.
This was a get-together for 3 friends. The location was central to our residences. I hadn't been there in a while. The hostess was very helpful with getting my disabled friend to the table, as she had forgotten to have her walker. We had to sit at a table as close as possible to the door. This left us in the bar area which was a little too noisy. our server was very attentive and efficient. My order of the filet mignon sandwich was nothing to rave about. The meat was not very tender and was sliced too thick; which made handling the sandwich messy. The side was just ok. We also ordered dessert ( my slice of chocolate cake was good and huge BUT so was the price !!) I would probably order another entrée if I were to go again. I also think that the dessert prices be printed on the menu rather than just blindly ordering from a dessert tray.
We eat here often and normally the food is great. This time, not so much. Seems like all three items on my plate were just not as good as usual. First of all, the green beans were perfectly awful. I don't even think they were cooked and no seasoning at all. Mashed potatoes were so-so. Salmon was also just so-so. I always get this same meal because I love it. But this time, things were a bit off. Will just see if it's better next time. Will still go back because I don't think one off night is a deal-breaker.
Red Rocks is an old favorite of ours that has never disappointed. The owner, manager, and staff are always friendly and accommodating. The food is consistently very good. Given the popularity of craft beer, their selection is good but not as varied as you'd expect. Too many of the "traditional" options, Yuengling, Sierra, etc. They did have a couple of local brews though.
Ambience was nice and they quickly and happily accommodated our request for a quiet place to eat.
