We made a reservation at Red Pump to specifically have the heir signature meatball dish. We arrived at 6:30 and was told no meatballs because chef decided to use ingredients to make bolognase sauce - Disappointing. We left and did not eat at restaurant

We went very early, so as to avoid noise. Drinks, appetizers and (split) 10” pizza. All food was excellent, as was the service. We will go again!

We had a fabulous dinner at Red Pump last Thursday. The food is always excellent and the service was exceptional. This continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in C'ville. Using OpenTable makes it so easy to reserve a table. If you enjoy Italian food, I highly recommend you give Red Pump a try.

We had a delightful meal and experience. Our server Clay was outstanding - knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. The entire staff was customer oriented and welcoming. The food was fresh and well prepared, the menu creative.

This review pertains to the summer 2019 Restaurant Week menu, which was 3 courses priced at $39. The first course options we had were both very good. I had a main of branzino served with greens and cherry tomatoes, which was very good. My dining partner had the tagliatelle with lamb ragu, which he said was 'okay'. We were both put off by the noise level, which was ear-splitting, the frequent and excessive stops by waitstaff to ask if we liked the food, and the too frequent water-glass fill-ups, where it was assumed if a glass was half full or less more water was needed (without asking). Finally, I had been looking forward to the house-made gelato for dessert. The other option was blueberry panna cotta (the tiramisu of the 2010s IMO). At an early dinnertime, we found the only gelato was a dairy-free chocolate made with coconut milk and they were out of the fruit sorbet that would have been a great alternative. I wanted to like this place more; but I don't think it was very good value for $. Had we been able to sit outside (it was 90+ degrees out) that might have taken care of the noise problem but the noise colors the whole experience. I may try again outside of Restaurant Week.

Staff is very accommodating and engaging. Food is excellent, the pizza's are delicious! Wine selection could be better as far as pricing, the up sale of them is a bit high. Not enough options to pick a low price wine, they all range from $48-$52. The ambiance is the best, the front of the restaurant allows for the window to be open which gives you the outside feel but are inside. I try to go here every time we are in town to visit. I am excited to try their various restaurants in Charleston, SC next!

We had close to a perfect meal experience. Our server (Hector I think) was wonderful. Suggested great wine pairings. The sugar snap pea salad was fantastic. Our entrees (Bianca pizza and the ragu) were also both fantastic. A fabulous experience.

The only thing we were a bit disappointed with was the bar service. We ordered drinks that included olives. After waiting quite awhile for the drinks, we were told that the bartender had to go see if they had more olives, which they did not. Many apologies from our server. A restaurant such as this should not run out of olives for drinks! Doesn't make a good first impression. However, the food was delicious and the service was also excellent.

We have eaten dinner here quite a bit and always enjoy it. We went this weekend for a friend’s birthday and while it was noisy we had a nice time. We had a few appetizers including the carbonara pizza which was really delicious. The kale salad was quite large and my husband and I could easily have split it had we known. It was good but not exceptional. I had the home made cavatelli with local mushrooms which we all agreed was the best dish of the night. Local wines were good and the waitress was attentive but not overwhelming. We wish they still served lunch but will definitely be back for dinner.

Server Alex was an outstanding and gracious host. It was a fixed price Mother’s Day Brunch, the food quality was phenomenal, so fresh it was like eating straight out of the garden. Kitchen was surprisingly slow.

Wine flight was great! Our service was a little slow, and some things we asked for were forgotten. This may have been because our waiter was on his second day. Overall, it was delicious. We ordered Brussels sprouts & meatballs as appetizers and I would highly recommend. We were also there celebrating my friends bachelorette, and they brought out a complimentary champagne for her which was a nice touch.
